The 2nd LP of my AEnima boot had some pretty gnarly surface noise that completely ruined it, which sucked cause listening to the first LP I thought, yeah, this was money well spent and then was gutted by how terrible the 2nd LP sounded. Took it back to my shop and they swapped just that LP out for me with the last copy they had in the back. We tested it and that one plays and sounds fine. So definitely a wide variety of experiences to be had with unofficial products like these, but I also have that gold translucent pressing and would recommend it as well.

That's a great price on the AEnima boot, I got that one at my local for like $50? $55? And 10,000 Days was $45 I believe. I'm with you, they're not perfect, but they will do.

I have the 10,000 days boot in red and the pressing is horribly noisy. The audio itself sounds quite good when it IS quite however totally ruined by near constant noise. Might try find a blue then!

First winner is an unemployed truck driver that seems strangely familiar.

I think if it's worth 35 dollars or not depends on if the LP is of one of your favorite bands. If you're a hardcore STP fan, then yeah this is probably worth the money to have another record to play on the turntable; but if you are okay with digital files I'm sure you can find just as solid of shows on the net.

I've been wondering about the Pumpkins ones as well. Are they worth $35 a piece?
I also saw an STP MTV Unplugged boot going around recently. I'm tempted.

Technically from what I understand these aren't bootlegs. This company obtains the rights to various recordings outside of the United States through various radio stations. To me they sound like really good radio broadcasts, probably soundboards... I have the Smashing Pumpkins one (and a few others), they sounds okay, but aren't great. The packaging is good, and the pressing looks solid; at least the ones that I have.

I've heard a rip of the 10,000 days. Not bad but definitely a bootleg.
I have owned a real Ænima and a boot. The boot sucked. Kept 24/96 needledrops of the original, but not the boot.
I'm curious how people like the Lollapalooza boot? I have cd flac of it and it sounds ace, does the vinyl boot sound any better? Is the bootleg the edited audio?

I do have this show. I am headed to work, when I get home this afternoon I will have my Dropbox set up and then drop the links. I think the files are converted to wav. but I'll get you the show, or at least what I have when I get off around 3-4pm.

That Kalamazoo show was the second time I ever saw Tool and it was fucking unreal. That bootleg is the best sounding live Tool I've ever heard.

Every RSD I hope we'll hear the Bernie cut of AEnima for Classic will be released by Tool.
No friggin' way I can afford $400+ for a test pressing, but have thought about it a few times! My Classic cuts of Zeppelin and Peter Gabriel are so good.

I can't find a definitive answer anywhere.
Does anyone have ANY of the Lateralus boots? I have the pic discs, but would like to add a Lat boot to my collection. I'm wondering which one sounds the best.
I don't understand how so many people have an issue with poor quality on the Lateralus pic discs. Did you guys clean the records using DISTILLED water? I bought mine about 6 years ago. Took it home, washed it in my Spin Clean and it has sounded fantastic ever since.
The discs were not made like normal pic discs. The image is underneath a different material than the normal pic disc

Hi all, found this thread after googling about Tool vinyl.
I have a sealed test pressing of Aenima, the 2nd press. It came with with back and front cover sleeve, and two white cardoboard sleeves that contain the pressings. Funnily enough the white cardboard sleeves don't fit inside the cover - they're too big.
Here's some photos - the last photo is of the centre label of another test pressing I tracked down, as mine is still sealed.
I purchased the pressing off ebay seller themusic24 in around 2004ish.
