bummed by this but not surprised given his overall dormancy. I bought soooo much shit from him back in the day. wasn't really on board with most of his releases in the last 5-ish years, though.

between him and Halo of Flies closing around the same time, it's brutal.

HoF shutting down hurts my heart, Cory is such a good dude and I bought almost everything he put out for YEARS. I think he joked I had the most HoF releases of anyone on DeadFormat at the time. And DF is dead too. ugh.

I had no idea HOF was closing up too. What a bummer. Seems pretty picked over but going to fill the gap on the label releases i dont have and grab that vile creature.

  2. Looks like after 14 years A389 is officially winding down. Dom had been limiting the releases/represses he did as of the last few years but looks like he is finally hanging it up.

He was always an awesome person to work with and I have spent far too much money supporting this label but they totally deserve it.

Kind of wish he did a final “sale” but makes total sense to just send stuff to distros and call it a day.

And raised there prices on just about everything by $1-$4

Pretty much... i know they obviously buy in smaller amounts but i bought the newest electric wizard at a local shop for 10 bucks cheaper than they are selling it for. I “get” when the imports are somewhat more expensive but when you can go to riding easy records directly and get it for 40% less they will never sell it...

I bought like four Native Sound mystery boxes and the owner sent me new stuff every time and a lot of it was newer and great releases. Lauren Records and Topshelf Records did a mystery box too and I got great stuff from them. All three labels threw in free tapes and test presses and other cool stuff.

This one sucked honestly. And so did the last 7" and 12" bundles that No Idea did. You can tell very clearly when a label is just dumping 3-5 specific titles on everyone and when they're doing a crazy Gideon level bundle with valuable items.

Relapse, deathwish and hydrahead are always a no brainer.  No idea used to be awesome but really fell off, same with K records. I totally understand trying to clear out some old stock (starkweather records) but throwing in some decent stuff will have people coming back for more...

Final verdict on these, for me: 1 keeper, 4 to the sell pile.

    Keeper:

Behind Closed Doors-this is, as the kids are saying these days, a banger.

    Sell Pile:

Mono-would be a keeper but I already own it.

Bonnie Stillwatter-an interesting listen but not something I would seek out on LP considering dwindling rack space

Parlour-a very good listen and their discography will make it to my Amazon digital music queue, but again, not something I would seek out on LP considering dwindling rack space

Howard Hello-a very interesting album instrumentally, but the vocoder vocal gimmick just completely kills it

All in all, no regrets. I'll easily be able to clear the roughly $6 per LP for the sell pile in trade-in value at my local shop.

Would you be willing to sell the mono record or trade for the one I have if you need it?

    My 5:

    Howard Hello - Election Year

    Parlour S/T

Maserati - Pyramid of the Moon

The Books - Music for a French Elevator & Other Oddities

    Steve Moore/Majeure - Brainstorm

Plus posters from Mono, Mogwai, and Inventions.

Pretty stoked about it. I haven't listened to any of these--they must have read my order note <3

That is significantly better than what everyone else got...  those steve moore/majeure and maserati records are killer.

Sale at Magnetic Eye. I don't need anything, but if you haven't picked up the new Summoner, now is the time.

Use sale code “love2018” at checkout for 25% OFF all purchases from MagneticEyeRecords.Bandcamp.Comtoday until 2/23/2018.

I feel like every time I look at their site the cost goes up on records. Where are the good ole days of them having under 20 dollar records...

    Hmmm. My expectations are low.

That behind closed doors is a 3 song 12 one sided EP. easily could have been a 7” as its like 15 minutes long.  The mono is cool but already have it. The bonnie stillwatter  is the one im most interested in and havent heard of the other two.

I was not expecting like 5 grails records but I opened it up and felt underwhelmed.

They're farther than Yellow Eyes, subscribers got a white label version late last year.  I want to say I only have 3-4 releases left to go, I don't remember, haha.  Probably 1 package worth.

I took a look at the original subscriber email.

    looks like there are:

    two yellow eye reissues

    mutilation rites

    pyrolatrous

    Eighenlight

Forn LP (which i think is no longer apart of the package i think but was on the list originally)

Eh, I'm not too worried about it.  I've had nothing, but good experiences with them thus far and I can't imagine they'll be dodgy at any point going forward.  Might not show up on time, but it happens and they've been fairly on top of communicating any issues.

Good point. They have been top notch. I just saw a FB post from them saying a yellow eyes and another record arrived at their shop and went to look at the subscription and was like holy shit those were due in the fall. I just had not been paying attention to where they were in fullfillment of the subscription.

It also looks like that forn record became tbd which is a bummer.

Wish Profound Lore did a subscription. I buy most of their releases and miss out on a lot of the rarer pressings for some reason.

They would be smart to do this. People would pay an extra upcharge to guarentee the rarest pressings. I know i would.
