  1. counter-anecdote – saw 10 copies at Amoeba in Berkeley yesterday. at any rate, hopefully this sells out and it's reprinted on (fewer!) 12" records haha
  2. there's only so much mileage to get out of Rocketship-y organ patches and power chords. however, Charmer has like 3-4 great songs that make me excited enough for this record to probably buy it sound unheard.
  3. on the topic of referral codes, if anyone wants to DM me theirs... gonna sign up when my plane lands.
  4. Two questions, if the board will indulge a newcomer to VMP. Does the crate option no longer exist? Tried the link someone posted on page 1 and then drifted around the site to no avail. Secondly, if I join with the monthly option, doesn't that entitle me to one free "record of the month?" And do I know in advance what the record of the month is? Is it the National record mentioned a few posts earlier?
  5. so Alt-J went from super slick, corporate album art on the last one to niche electronic underground aesthetic? someone will have to write glitch and vaporwave's obituaries soon, i shouldn't wonder
  6. you're right – 1k on blue according to discogs. so i imagine similar pressing numbers for this one then. it's nice copies of the special edt. Beach Music LP can still be found, but i do remember that selling out before the street date last time.
  7. not sure where you're seeing that (maybe you're in Europe?), but no American sellers seem to have it in stock and the cheapest US discogs copy is $50. moot point for me since i have the colored edition already, but it's certainly going to sell out quickly as it is likely no more than 3-500 copies.
  8. yeah, i don't ever recall seeing a lot of variants for Domino releases. maybe there will be an EU exclusive at some point, though. and their colored LPs sell out fast. i had to scramble to track down a colored version of Pool cuz they sold out well in advance of the release date.
  9. AOTY, it's already clear tempted to pay Domino's lousy shipping twice to get a random tape and a red webstore one (on top of the LP version). i really shouldn't be doing that though...
  10. oh way cool, hope you dig it that particular release was meant to be paired with a Lost Trail record as a split 12" that release never came to fruition, so we released our tracks separately. however, we did spearhead this particular project together with some local friends – https://shimmeringmoodsrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-lost-trail-orchestra really grimy / gaze-y lo-fi stuff. live improv.
  11. oh hey, i had no idea people on here paid attention to Leaaves! i'm not sure about a repress, but if there's some demand, i'll definitely look into it. for now, Spare No Expanse (www.sparenoexpanse.bandcamp.com) has two other tapes out. and i've got copies of some other Leaaves releases on my bandcamp (www.leaaves.bandcamp.com).
  12. we ruthlessly exploited a demand for our own gain! praise us! also, it's ok cuz we're not as bad as the 3 flippers on discogs!
  13. not my label, but one of this board's members, http://dreamover.limitedrun.com/, did exactly that! though i think the fact that reissues happen constantly and NONE go for $75 should've tipped you off earlier that you are quite likely located somewhere within the Kool-Aid man's pitcher of Kool-Aid. probably in the same condo complex as MM's management team, so there's at least some company!
  14. Exactly, and I'm willing to bet the overlap between the very small number of folks who've splurged for an OG press and those die-hard fans who are eagerly awaiting the $75 price tag is pretty significant. Those who'd love a copy – but at a reasonable price – will likely sit this out, simply because paying more than 30 bucks for a record is a bad financial move or just silly or whatever. Even those who could more easily afford $75 pressings than the $250 OG listings on Discogs will probably hold off on this one too.
  15. and lovedrug was never heard from again! well, aside from the bleeding-heart MMers in that one FB group, i think the genpub is unaware that this might cost anywhere near $75. i'm expecting a lot more of a fuss once people start visiting the store, especially those stayin' up on the east coast. especially if the site crashes.
  16. Savage! But honestly, it may be that a lot of their fans, once v gung-ho on their sound, are now pretty dormant/disinterested, especially given the rather flat release with awkwardly-manifested commercial aspirations that was Vitals. Oh, and the remix album!!! TobyMac from 2003 called, he wants his business strategy back!
  17. also the stockholm syndrome in the MM group (where the MM rep is very active) is REAL haha now featuring open call to chime in the conversation (which is how we got Jenevieve, i believe – welcome, and don't mind us!)
  18. i mean, the pre-emptive allusions by MM's management to flippers suggests they're aware this product will get flipped – they just want a bigger share of the total pie. only way to do that is to charge a higher initial price. which is ironic, because pressing 2-3k and/or charging a REASONABLE price would probably mean flipping would be less successful as more folks would've managed to afford a copy at the outset.
  19. the band currently has 270,000+ fans on facebook, allotting copies for .3% – i know vinyl isn't super popular in the grand scheme of things, but i'm sure MM could easily have moved 2-3k (3k being slightly over copies for 1% of the fanbase) at 1/3 of the current outlandish price.
