  1. lastfm is essentially dead. still works for scrobbling, sort of. http://www.last.fm/user/nateyomat3y
  2. i think grey'd be cool, too. especially if it's opaque. http://shop.paperbagrecords.com/products/love-streams
  3. grabbed the silver. hoping it's lovely. either way, it's essentially the same price posted to the US as the standard black, and i sure do enjoy some colored vinyl. and some tim hecker.
  4. he may be dissuading us from thinking it's a "box set" – his use of the word medium might not refer to the medium for playing music but the way it's all advertised/packaged. it may just be a series of individual LP represses. makes sense to my mind, as T&N could likely profit more off of folks paying full price for each LP, plus snag people only wanting to add one or two titles (folks like me). i'd love Cities and NTFP and would call it a day thereafter. *edit* yeah, what chuck was saying. this is what happens when you start a post, leave it sit to make some grilled cheese, and then finish your train of thought.
  5. oh my crap, did this charming bon vivant just tell us to "educate ourselves?" amazing.
  6. silver wilkinson was such a killer record; hoping he's indulging in more of that soft, silky production for this one. tracks up on warp sound fabulous!
  7. so are folks buying from Birdtapes because of the nostalgia associated with the name, or is he still putting out great underground stuff? i feel like there's a cultish attachment to labels like his and Orchid Tapes; the quality of the music is a distant second.
  8. i mean, i'm not bothered that they selected Caspian at all. a bit surprised, perhaps. i would've expected them to take along some staple T&N/Solid State act that many UØ fans already enjoy (Norma Jean, August Burns Red haha, why not), or some up-and-coming metal/post-hardcore whose LPs you see floating around these forums. personally speaking, well... most of the bands i'd love to see paired with UØ are defunct
  9. ugh that Juno record. both Juno records, really <3 also, pretty sure Mare Vitalis 180g black is /150. that's what Ryan said when he put them up for preorder. (not looking to buy, just a free bump)
  10. i can definitely see them being more interesting live, as is often the case with sprawling, multi-level post rock artists. but having heard their first few studio albums back in the day, they seem even more complacent and formulaic than bands like Mogwai or Godspeed. haven't heard their latest LP, though, but honestly, i doubt they've made it this far, only to change up their sound a decade later. it seems more likely that, since they execute the post-rock formula very well, they're supported in that by their fanbase, and i can't blame them! either way, this opener choice seems like Underoath returning a favor or helping friends out (which is totally ok!). but Caspian is neither a breakout band nor a consensus underground/mid-level indie classic.
  11. maybe i've just lost total interest in "post-rock" these days (talking here about bands that sound less like OG post-rock i.e. Slint and more like some exercise in turning soft plucky melodies into powerchord sludge fests), but i never thought highly of Caspian in the context of their peers such as EITS/Godspeed/etc.
  12. grabbed this from Sears' marketplace, $31 ppd. and most likely on black. there seems to have been only copy available. who knew Sears had a marketplace?? anyone trying to score a cheaper copy might want to check up on that in a day or two; maybe the seller will restock it.
  13. aside from the CT extras, the Newbury pressing is essentially the same as the CT one. LP1 is blue + red splatter for both, while CT offers LP2 as a pink splatter and Newbury, a yellow splatter. might as well get Newbury's variant and enjoy a more exclusive colorway. as someone who preordered from CT pretty early on, i'm a bit disappointed. maybe it's just that Newbury and VMP have stolen CT's thunder, but i remember other CT special editions seeming a lot cooler (especially thinking of Craft Spells' latest).
  14. you're right! damn. the initial page said this "delivery to germany = free", but the second page is charging me for delivery. liars!
  15. just realized i can grab it when i'm in Germany in a few months, and with Domino's free shipping in Germany, I'll save 5 or 6 bucks in the process. delayed gratification
  16. looks like the colored version is limited to 350 in the US and sold out at Domino too holding out for a tour press and/or retail distro, cuz Domino has horrid shipping rates. new track "Be Apart" is fire: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/17908-porches-be-apart/
  17. i really want to see mwY again, but i don't want to pay Say Anything (who i don't care about/for) ticket prices... *edit* nvm i'll be out of town when they hit NC. and speaking of NC, y'all should dig Museum Mouth (who are also on the bill). a buddy of mine is mixing their Rory debut release, and it sounds prime.
  18. Crying in Public is that classic Chairlift sound (sophistipop revival as it were), but the other two singles have been oddly straightforward and, while fun, I'm not sure I'd listen to them a second time.
  19. fine by me! i'll hit you up privately once i'm ready to send this thing, probably later next week. anyone else wants to swap, lemme know. i've got 3-4 dub-able cassettes lying around.
  20. i'm down for this! gonna mix up an ambient c-90 – that kinda music sounds even better on cassette. so, if anyone wants one, lemme know. would love a mix in return, but doesn't have to be.
