  1. I got a signed copy of the first LP from there, will have to go in myself to take a look
  2. Yep same here, I get charged by customs without fail every time. To try and mitigate it a little I tend to order a few LP's in one order as the initial £8 is only once so one LP will cost say £11, 2 will cost £15 and 3 will cost £19 etc etc. in charges
  3. you might find the compliance of your arm is wrong for your cart so you might not be able to get rid of it but provided it's only slight as ajxd said. just look at it head on at the start, middle and end of a whole side to see how it behaves and to see whether you really have a problem or not
  4. Check to see if it's worse one end or the other of a side, if it is then chances are it is a bias issue. If it gets worse near the centre then it's too much and vice versa at the beginning.
  5. Wood glue it, if that don't get it clean nothing will
  6. The QC seems to vary depending on who they are making them for so they can do it if paid enough
  7. Yup add to that Lenco and a bunch of DJ decks, doesn't make them bad though but I'd want to hear one, they don't look bad and it looks to have all the basics covered, but with all these Chinese made tables I'd be pretty certain I could do a lot better with $200 on a used table or for not that much more a Uturn or Project or better still a Rega Back in the 70's it wasn't hard to make a decent table with Jelco and others OEM arms and plenty of motor options all you had to make was the main bearing, platter and plinth and those could all be bought from the large Japanese companies if needed, but now with all those things made in China the bottom end of that sort of engineering sadly just doesn't feel as good. All the new ones I've heard that were supposed to be good e.g. the Teac just weren't, on the whole they're quite underwhelming for the money when you try them next to a Project or a Rega (we can't get Uturns over here). The only one I haven't heard is the Onkyo (which I don't think is Hanpin based) and although it's not a brand I'm a fan of I really want it to be good because it looks good.
  8. If the powers been off for an hour then the caps will be fine. The worry will be more that whatever you use to clean it has fully dried and evaporated before you put any power back on it. If it has a reasonable value then time to get the rubber gloves and simple green out but if not well I think you know the answer.
  9. He gets it, this a very real problem for Mr Tardcore and what he needs now is our sympathy and consoling advice on this irksome problem
  10. I can hear your bank manager ascending the stairs to the roof now That looks to be anodized rather then painted but my wife would love it, purple is her colour of choice. And another Helius? And those Ikeda arms are a work of art as well.
  11. Yes the AT-60 is able to defeat the phono amp so I expect this is probably where the problem is Look for a switch on the back that says phono/line and make sure it's set to line (make sure the volume is down when you do it)
  12. I've already given you a perfectly good suggestion further up the thread, does it not fit your particular requirements or are there no suppliers local to you?
  13. Yes but are the bank manager suicides it causes along the way worth it. And you know you haven't reached sonic nirvana really, it's one of those mythical unattainable things so give it a couple of months and something else shiny will catch your eye, you know I'm right.
  14. Bugger. Thanks for that. When I went in via the Rough Trade front page the only options I got were CD or standard LP. Oh well my copies going to be in the US on release day although it was cheaper
  15. Good or bad it was a right royal pain in the arse to order from this side of the Atlantic. The United Kingdom isn't an option for Rough Trade US and annoyingly it doesn't show up on Rough Trade UK unless I missed it or there is another different version going to show up here some time soon. Luckily my parents live in the US so I got it shipped there but I had to put my billing address as The Isle Of Man just to get a UK format address and unless they've done a runner as well the Isle Of Man was still part of the Empire last time I checked. All done on my phone and a lot of fun on the way into London on the train this morning with signal dropouts etc. So after all that I expect the album will be utter cack when I finally do get it but thanks to @jackshidt for posting
  16. Think of this one as the outer rim of outer sleeve threads
  17. yard sales in old established moneyed neighbourhoods are always a good bet, generally a better class of crap I find
  18. I expect his bank managers probably still crying at all the money he's taken out of the bank recently and banned him from the premises until he stops doing it
  19. I would think your best bet would be to use brothel grade over sized condoms, that should stop anything getting at your precious outer sleeves
  20. It has a different ASIN to the European version so that's a good sign
