  1. Nice! I was hooked the moment I first heard the Flashing Lights cover and I can't stand Kanye West,
  2. Hell yes. Picking up the Flashing Lights single at a local record store is what got me into these guys. Insanely talented kids. Haha I've been trying not to spend money but fuck it for BBNG. Agreed on BBNG1 needing to be pressed!
  3. Very true about the 1200's but you know never know. I'd at least say keep an eye out for one. And before it's said 20 more times, stay away from anything Crosley or similiar. Also try to avoid any turntables with USB ports or built-in phono pre-amps.
  4. There's a million topics on this already but personally I've gotta recommend the older stuff. Takes a bit more work and luck to find good equipment but you can save a bunch going that route. I recommend any of the 1200 series turntables from Technics (make sure you don't buy one from a DJ), Pioneer/Marantz circa 1970's and as for speakers...whatever sounds good to you!
  5. No experience but I haven't heard good things about Rhino and their vinyl reissues. Then again I seem to only hear bad about MOV and I love 'em. 2 cents.
  6. Agreed on the 2xLP. I haven't had a bad experience with MOV and knew they pressed this but it was always too pricey for me, even for a black copy. Apparently they're going to be pressing Tiny Music next month too so I'll go for that and maybe snatch their pressings of Core and Purple when I have the extra cash.
  7. I haven't thought about AC in a minute! Yes they were and so do I.
  8. Relatively but I've been following this thread since it started, Maybe I missed the memo on people not being able to voice any negative opinions about something that's perfectly reasonable to be a little upset about.
  9. Picked up the HT copy. I was happy to have this for less than 50 bucks but I agree with people saying it's lacking. I'll give it some more listens but my first impression was that is sounded a little weak. Definitely too much music per side.
  10. Why are people downvoting any comments like this? I understand the store doesn't owe us their lives or anything and we're getting refunded etc. but what happened with the majority of peoples' orders is unacceptable for any store. You have a right as a customer to be upset. Just sayin'.
  11. Missed out on the KS so absolutely no signed copies for me. But in positive news I am loving this album! I was sorta underwhelmed when I first listened to the Pandora stream but it's growing on me fast. The HT and Baby Blue variants both look crazy badass, I can't wait the put the kanji tat on my face and rock my ass off with James in KC. Hurry up February!
  12. Got the whaleship mat in the mail today! Looks even more awesome in person. Ever thought about putting it on a shirt?
  13. Really. Thanks for getting back to me quickly, Mark! Much appreciated. And in regard to my last post: who can honestly disagree with me that the whole mix-up deal with orders wasn't at least a little bit frustrating? Oldies is awesome for putting on such a great sale to begin with though and Mark is doing great by keeping us all in the loop.
  14. Not vinyl but today I bought a copy of Saosin's Translating The Name on CD in great shape for $3 at a local second-hand shop. 3 BUCKS!
  15. Pretty sure this is the only record store in the vastly underwhelming metropolis that is Topeka, Kansas: Time Machine Records & More 1501 SW 21st St # 108 Topeka, KS 66604 (785) 286-7718 https://www.facebook.com/TimeMachineRecords Located in the Washburn View Shopping Center right off the southeast corner of the Washburn University campus. Not a bad place at all for LP's (all genres) spanning from the 60's-80's, Location is pretty small but the prices are fair and the selection is good with rarer stuff that comes in here and there. Plus the store always has neat vintage memorabilia, turntables, amps, speakers and other audio equipment on display or for sale. (they had a gorgeous Dual 1019 there that I wanted forever) The dudes who the run the store are pretty nice and love chatting about anything to do with vinyl. Swing by if you ever find yourself in the area!
  16. I had a decent enough experience and stayed away from the tacky crap they had on the west side of the shop. We had a hotel nearby so I was able to walk there but I can see parking being a pain. Also that Drastic Plastic place down the street was pretty lame IMO. Awesome! I'll add their pages ASAP. Found the location for Record Benders. I can't wait to get a chance to head up there again. Thanks!
  17. I listened to the Pandora stream yesterday morning and it had a thank you track performed by Common Denominator at the end so I'm guessing every version will have it. Then again, I've been wrong before. I'll need to listen to the album a few more times but it didn't blow me away on the first listen. Definitely can't wait for the tour w/ Dads though. Hopefully Reggie keeps kicking after all the hype and the tour. James has to know there's a demand out there for him.
  18. Names/websites for them? I went to Omaha for the first time a little while back and was blown away by Homer's. I've got a buddy living up there now who I need to visit soon. I'd love to hit up that place up again as well as scope out these new shops.
  19. Placed my order (#537151) on the 12th and it's still processing. Not gonna get too torn up about it but I'm just assuming now that none of the Owen albums I ordered will be showing up. Mark is awesome for keeping people informed on this but it was still pretty shitty of Oldies to let all of the orders get mixed up like they did. Screwed a bunch of people who were early to the game over I'm sure.
