It seems odd calling the original version an alternate version

also less of a hipster comment and more of an old person comment

    The only version that matters.

Well fuck me for mentioning that the acoustic ORIGINAL EP version is on this vinyl press haha. I didn't realize everyone already knew that it wasn't the full band version.

A million apologies to ya'll for using the word "alternate" before

I dunno if it's snarky as much as it was just meant to indicate that the recording you're referencing could quite possibly be the superior version that was released on the "So Impossible EP."

They could've said that then lol. Not that it matters, it just felt like a correction.

Which is fine, just neither here nor there in regards to why I mentioned it being an "alternate" version than the one I had expected (the full band version) and thought it was a nice surprise to own on vinyl

    So the original version

Haha I feel like this is a snarky hipster "I know what the original version of hands down was" response.

I suppose I meant an alternate version than the one that most people know, one of their highest streamed songs, the one that appears on their album, etc. But the reason I mentioned it is because I don't own it on vinyl already, opposed to the full band version. Do you own the "acoustic original" on vinyl outside of this pressing?

  4. I got the galaxy variant in the other day. Instead of cream/black, it's a blue/green swirl and although it doesn't match the artwork as well, it's really cool and I'm stoked to have it. I also saw the indie retail variant is maroon

Also "hands down" is an alternate acoustic version. The combination of alternate live recordings and what not makes this press even cooler and also leaves room for a repress of the earlier vinyl imo.

Oh yeah. Apologies for the accusation. I'll try to swing this back to the topic.

I'm from Indiana too. I live in Los Angeles now but did you go to the bright eyes show back in 2005 at the IU auditorium when David Dondero opened? It was great!

Yeah I was at that show with David Dondero. Definitely incredible

The mockup is most definitely some kind of blue marble, you’re right.  They both look pretty nice, I’d say... I think I’d be happy with either variation.

It def made me happier with my yellow VMP variant after knowing it's just regular sky blue. Plus the VMP is foil stamped / numbered so that's cool too. None of the variant's match the artwork particularly well haha

That's cool. I just think helping out fellow vinyl collectors means not buying more than you need to just cancel. I think it's in poor taste. I'm not calling anyone a terrible person. It's just a fact that when you do this on variants that are super limited (not the case here, not sure why people are teaming up for this) you take stock from other people who just want one copy. Even when it's canceled. The odds of getting a couple restocks are way worse than getting one on pre-order day.

Yeah, I'm not the one worried about getting one before they sell out.

I'm not really that concerned about missing out on something, I don't think anyone here is taking it as serious as you, but I'm down to help on the off chance that there is. And okay, so the cancelling of an order isn't okay, then I'd just say that they'll be sold to someone worthy of receiving a copy who missed out (when this never actually happens)

I just thought I could help some people on here since I have a friend who is working on this release and will give me a heads up on the pre-order drops, I never assumed multiple copies would truly be ordered. Maybe you should just worry about yourself though lol.

Again, Anthony buying a comic for you because you can't is very different than both of you buying two and then just figuring out what to do with the extras later. As far as the spotify example, I don't follow the logic of how that applies here. I appreciate you explaining your perspective but it's still selfish. And if you or Anthony didn't get a comic because people bought more than they needed, I'm sure you'd see my point.

What a headache of a thread.

I agreed to be a part of said "group" of helpers, with the assumption that it'd only be 2-4 people max helping. And I also assumed whatever "extra" records are ordered could just be cancelled and then therefore re-stocked for other people to get. Absolutely nothing wrong with this. Also you're new around here it seems, but people are just trying to help out fellow vinyl collectors on here typically.

  9. Howdy ya'll. Vinyl will be here today and shipping immediately. There's a small amount of the clear w/ black smoke variant remaining! And full disclosure: we do plan on pressing more, but with the schedule of 2020 it probably won't be for a bit if you're wanting a copy sooner than later. The variants/packaging look amazing too, Dog Knights got theirs already and posted some pictures.

Also, we have a few extra Japanese obi strips (the obi strips alone, not the clear/gold vinyl variant they were sold with) that I can spare if you ordered a copy and want to send the $ for one to be included with your order - just message me.

I will travel for this tour. SC gets overlooked a lot and it pisses me off, but ive seen bright eyes/conor live since around 05 and he never fails to put on a good show. The Wide Awake/Digital Ash tour was amazing.

I saw them in 2005 as well in Bloomington, IN. It was post the i'm wide awake tour I think, because it was a wide mix of songs dating back to letting off the happiness and a couple new songs that would later be on Cassadaga. It was actually one of the best concerts I've been to. They had like 13 people on stage, harp and all.

Conor was shit faced and I was a 14 year old in the 4th row losing my mind. (I originally had balcony seats and the venue let me swap mine to sit next to a friend who was buying their ticket and hooked it up)

I just bought the boxset before Christmas.

I've been wanting to pull the trigger on that for way too long (since it came out) but I literally own every single album and have been too lazy to purchase and sell off the others haha. Maybe this new album will motivate me to sooner than later.
