  1. nice. we are well on our way to matching and exceeding the brand new devil and god thread. In fact, if we're not at least twice as ridiculous, then we have failed the mars volta and our new vinyl overlord, deloused in the comatorium.
  2. With MOV's history of doing great presses with excellent sound quality, this new more limited release will likely be the desired press, especially because the old silver picture discs sounded like crap (and still commanded a 300 dollar premium in mint condition).
  3. lets get real here. The original had a 10000 print run and has been scarcely available. 3500 and even 1500 is a pretty small amount, especially if you consider that the Mars volta probably has over 15000 fans who would likely want to buy the album. This is going to sell out and prices will remain elevated for the foreseeable future until another repress, especially with the recent resurgence of vinyl. If you want this album, especially in a limited color, you should probably pre order it.
  4. this album sounds phenomenal from a sound quality point of view. the mix and clarity of the instruments and vocals are just superb. I've spun it at least 5x since it's come in
  5. welp. soundstage direct has sold out of the 3500 copies apparently.
  6. high fidelity! introduced me to the beta band all those years ago...
  7. got a pink copy. white is just too generic. thanks SRC for pressing the greatest album
  8. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind I heart Huckabees Synecdoche New York (essentially any and all Jon Brion soundtracks) Garden State
  9. check out drums not dead. IMHO their best album.
  10. anyone get their copies from banquet yet? also - how is the sound quality?
  11. it's like walking into a store and finding a copy of Sea Change on the shelves. You just gotta do it.
  12. bought without hesitation. who wants to pay 200 on ebay? Thanks for saving me a lot of RSD anxiety.
  13. so I successfully managed to extract the record while leaving the package mostly intact. what I did was a small 1 inch vertical cut near top right edge, which removed the vacuum seal from the record side only. then I just cut along the inside jacket to create a top opening without removing any material. the LPs are able to be easily slid in and out through the top slit opening, and packaging looks intact when I replace the LPs. fwiw the vinyl sounds excellent.
  14. Mine came in too and I have similar concerns. Packaging looks amazing and it appears that the records have clear sleeves with the track listing and info screened onto the clear sleeve. Just need to figure out a way to get the records out without mangling the package and a place to store this gargantuan thing.. Edit : I think a top opening makes the most sense for the package
  15. picked up one of the banquet copies, thanks so much for the heads up. a classic soundtrack
  16. bought this after listening - absolutely fantastic tracks. actually contemplating buying several to give to some friends. I wouldn't describe it as ambient - it's much more cinematic, sort of a collection of interludes between key scenes in a movie.
  17. the wixiw deluxe version when sold averages around 125 on discogs, no way this one was gonna last long. especially when it looks even cooler than the wax dip.
  18. eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, lost in translation repress, or royal tenenbaums for me. thanks in advance RSD
  19. wow those 7s are great. picked them up, thanks for the find!
  20. i'm guessing between 500-1000. There were a limited number that were sold in person at Gershwin theatre in October 2013, and both those and the online orders were sold out in several days. Now it pops back up online several months later and apparently there's less than 100 to go around.
