funny you say this, because I am not a big violent femmes fan but I found the compilation fantastic exactly for the reasons you did not. I guess if you're looking for rocking straight forward covers of violent femmes with girl vocals, I would avoid this compilation. if you're into hazy dream pop shoegaze bullshit it is a phenomenal compilation IMHO and definitely worth spinning.

Best: Non Violent Femmes (this compilation rules) Worst: devo/flaming lips side by side could have been a little better.

the trick is clicking it, making sure it is loading and then just letting it sit there. for 10 minutes, eventually it loads and you get in. If you keep refreshing it resets your line in the queue

I own and enjoy this album. It is an excellent pop album IMHO and stands up regardless of the singles, which are admittedly really good as well. Excellent sound quality from the picture disk. The production from Mike Will is fantastic and the songs jump off the record. If you feel like you need to justify your musical choices and purchases to strangers on the internet, that act in itself is probably more emasculating than owning a Miley Cyrus album.

It still seems very low, don't you think? Amoeba got <5 copies and it's one of the most renowned and biggest record stores in the world. This is going to be the largest RSD yet, with tons more people looking to score vinyl than ever before. I understand the deal with limited releases, but this seems a bit absurd. Was the Beck Pink Sea Change similar in distribution when it came out several years ago?

except that Austin, TX is one of the biggest music oriented cities in America, but I digress. San Antonio received no cake box sets at all and it's the 7th largest city in America FWIW

i called all the shops in austin TX. Less than a total of 10 copies of the cake box for the entire city. Paranorman is numbering below 20 copies total as well, and mondo is located in ATX. Going to be a lot of disappointed RSDers tomorrow

wow. most of the biggest stores around me only got 1-2 copies of the cake box set and not much more of some of the other coveted stuff (like 8 Death cab live LPs, etc.) This is going to be a epic disaster for the hundreds of people lining up. I wonder where all the copies went
