  1. Looks great. Hoping to get it soon.
  2. Hmm. I am not sure whether you could say Chapterhouse aren't shoegazer, but some of your other suggestions are...but to be honest, I am going off definitions when the records came out. I am not 100% how history views these and it's always a but fuzzy. Some decent suggestions otherwise. Lush's early stuff is shoegaze, but they went a bit indie rock later on. I had a massive crush on Miki! I still pull out the early Ride EPs. They look great and still sound good to me.
  3. I think so. The way it's worded means it be interpreted one of two ways, and given how many have been sold, and the price. I would go for copies.
  4. Yeah, I agree about the definition. I don't have any more white whale records. However a three years ago I just missed a rare edition of a book I want. Only about 100 released, can't see one anywhere and I have contacted all the people who I know own a copy. Nobody is selling. I would pay twice maybe three times the amount the last one sold for. That's a white whale for me.
  5. I got mine this week, and I am in the UK.
  6. I think he's taken the most extreme case to make a point...which is not uncommon of course. I am a collector, but for me that means if there is an album I love, then a nicely pressed LP edition with extras, poster or some such additional material then I am really quite happy. If I love a band, then getting hold of *very* different versions is desirable, but not the be all and end all. Rather 50 pounds went on another release by another band completely, as opposed to something 99% the same as what I own. And I say all this as a vinyl lover and life-long collector.
  7. Let me explain my feelings on this. I spoke about Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth. Now I love that album. Mudhoney/SY/Nirvana were the soundtrack to my teenage years. I had the rare vinyl signed poster first press edition. Before I got this, I had it on CD as well. (I still do). I can listen to it on CD at any point in time. For albums I love, having a nice edition, with some connection to the past/the band and a piece of history is important. (Kind of why I like signed copies of my favourite books). For Mudhoney, I have the picture disk of EGBDF. and also the fudge coloured edition. I sold the Sonic Youth vinyl just to make room and at that time thought that I could easily pick it up again if I really, really wanted it. I sold it for not much money at all, in the 2000s as nobody was interested in vinyl, well a few die-hards were. What has happened in recent years is that vinyl has become very 'cool' again. Which for people like me who have been buying it for 25 years is strange, but nice to observe. The side effect of this is that should I ever want to get a copy back, it will cost a large amount of money. I can always listen to it on CD if I want. But that connection I had isn't there. Does this make sense?
  8. I can remember very clearly looking at the original Trainspotting 2xLP soundtrack the week it came out and thinking, nah. I will pick it up soon and never did. It was a numbered copy as well, I can even now picture that detail.
  9. I didn't think I was getting out of vinyl but having been buying since about '88, in the mid 2000s I felt the same as you. The prices were going down, and I had a lot of records just taking up room. I didn't sell loads and loads, but some rare ones for not much. Off the top of my head, FSOL white label test pressing of one of their LPs. And Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation original press with signed poster. Also a rare clear or coloured vinyl Depeche Mode LP. I am sure I will remember more, but they are the painful ones.
  10. I will pick this up. I am still kicking myself for selling the original press with signed poster for very little money (when nobody was buying vinyl quite a while ago). So this might make up for it.
  11. As title says. Would ideally like to buy both from a single seller to save on postage fees etc. UK/Euro preferred, but I suspect I will need to get from the US. Thanks in advance!
  12. The 'issue' is that it's not especially friendly, having to stay up till that time just to buy them? Granted I don't 'have' to stay up, but given they are based in the UK, something like 10am or something would have been nice. I buy from all over the world, and due to drops in timezones, have spent 6-7 times this last year setting my alarm for 2am and having to go for releases.
  13. I don't know why it should annoy me that Norman are starting at such a UK unfriendly time, but it does...
  14. The EPs were available over here in the UK for a while. Now I see them listed RSD here. I am officially confused.
  15. This may sound like stating the obvious, but does the runout groove have any kind of markings? 95% of records will have the cat number on there. I've had to use this and google to track pressings (white labels) down.
  16. My coloured vinyl arrived yesterday, but haven't even had chance to open the packaging yet.
  17. Yeah, I think it was almost hours they went in. The fact the blood cost only slightly more than the other meant most people went for that version.
  18. Ah, OK thanks. I either got the newsletter and binned it, or it was in my Spam folder...
  19. Released on the 24th feb, so...I wouldn't expect to see it yet?
  20. Yep. I used to work on Shaftesbury avenue so was 30s seconds from Berwick Street. MVE shops are good if you have time to dig through the bargain sections at times. I've picked up some decent white labels. But there is a lot to sift through.
