    Mine arrived in Toronto today.

Top notch packing from End of An Ear. Basically a mailer inside another mailer.

Looking forward to playing this tonight.

I got a shipping notification from End of An Ear today. Looks like these are getting sent out a little early.

I got a new job a few months ago which has given me way, way better work-life balance, which means more time for horror movies 🙂

Some of the movies I've watched lately...

The Town that Dreaded Sundown (1976). I really liked this movie. Considering I usually like my slashers with a healthy dose of gore and sleaze, I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one. Really great atmosphere here and for some reason the narration stuck a chord with me too. Allegedly based on a true story, this one is about a mystery killer terrorizing a town at night (hence the title). Hoping to catch the 2014 remake if/when it comes to Canadian Shudder.

Fatal Exam (1990).  I actually watched this twice because I didn't want to be unfair to it but I feel like I deserve a medal for spending 4+ hours of my life with this movie. I once thought "Don't Panic" was the worst horror movie I've ever seen but this might just be the worst movie I've ever seen - period. It's a haunted house/possession movie but it's so amateurish, badly written, badly acted, and badly recorded (yes, even the sound is noticeably bad) that it crosses from "so bad it's good" to just really, really bad. It isn't scary and it's far too long.

Scare Package (2020). I can see how people would like this movie but it was a little too self-aware and meta for me. It's a horror comedy anthology that pokes fun at horror tropes.  Joe Bob Briggs has a cameo, which I enjoyed, but overall it winks at the audience a little too much for my taste.

A Bay of Blood (1971). A slasher with sleaze and gore - my favourite! Really dug this one. Had never really heard of it before but it was part of my journey through slasher history. Some good kills in this movie and now I see the "inspiration" for some of the F13 kills. Glad I stumbled across this movie.

If anybody else missed out on the DA exclusive splatter variant, there are some "warehouse finds" available for RSD:

No unfortunately it's sold out at that link now.

It's been in my want list since then too. If I see one, I'll post it for you!

Is the link you ordered from still active?

I'd prefer to get it local (or at least Canadian)  but if it comes down to spending an extra $20 vs. missing out, then I guess I'll spend the money. This has been on my want list since RSD 2014.

I've wanted this album for ages since I missed out on the RSD drop back in the day. Saw this tour when they came through Toronto. I've seen Death Cab at least ten times, this show with the Magik Magik Orchestra was brilliant!

    Indie exclusive limited to 2000

Onky link I can find so far for this.

Square Enix is pressing the Chrono Cross: Radical Dreamers edition soundtrack.

Currently up for preorder with an estimated ship date of late June 2022.

Heads up, shipping cost (at least to Canada) is kinda crazy and if you order anything else with the PO, they will split the orders and you have to pay shipping twice.

That is a great movie. I don't know how many times I watched it before I realized Gary Oldman was Dracula.

I've finally had some time to get back to horror stuff again and have been kinda aimlessly picking things on Shudder.

In the past few weeks I watched...

Castle Freak (1995). Spooky naked goblin lives in a castle (duh) and terrorizes occupants. Pretty straightforward story but I enjoyed it. Didn't pick up on the cast/director connection with Reanimator until afterwards.

Castle Freak (2020). Didn't enjoy it as much as the original. Started off thinking it was a note-for-note remake and then it took a weird left turn into (incestuous?) sex cults. The plot felt kind of forced into being overly complicated and all of the characters were unlikeable.

Hellmaster (1992). I picked this at random and ended up really liking it. Scratched an itch for the vibe of a late 80's/early 90's horror movie with gross monsters, a mad scientist and dumb students who get killed.

I also finished watching the Deadhouse Dark series. Like any anthology, it's a little hit and miss but it has some good episodes. The episodes are short (less than 20 minutes) and there's only six so it's a pretty easy watch.

I watched Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) for the first time last night.  I really enjoyed it!  Cool visuals, great monster design and a fair amount of gore.  I was expecting it to be a more conventional film and was pleasantly surprised with how stylized it was.

I can wholly relate to what your going through and dealing with. I'm going through a very similar mental health crisis. Working from home has long-lost its novelty and my family are driving me crazy. Even more so as of late as my parents (both elderly & live with me & my father going through cancer treatment) have almost become different people in their attituded and characters. It feels like I'm in the middle of a divorcing couple and I'm the kid stuck in the middle of it all. It's been a lot of stress. Especially when I'm the one carrying the greatest load of the household in a lot of things. It's exhausting.

Plus the added pressure of a Latino household doesn't help either.

Hang in there, brother. You're not alone. And it's a step in the right direction of self-care to go see a professional.

I might give it a second chance.

I just found that it got off to a slow start and the weirdness seemed so unexplained up until the last 20 minutes or so, and even then it's sort of left to the audience to try to make sense of it all.

Eh, I can't figure out how to hide spoilers on the specific plot points that I got hung up on.

It was definitely a thought provoking movie but different strokes for different folks 🙂

Watched episode 6 of Midnight Mass last night. I found the last twenty minutes or so extremely intense, even as someone pretty well accustomed to horror.

Hamish Linklater deserves an award for this series. So charismatic, intense and sinister all at once. Absolutely fantastic performance.

Planning to watch the finale tonight.

I'm on episode 4 of Midnight Mass. Couldn't figure out if I liked it or where it was going after the first two episodes but it really picked up at the third. Glad I stuck with it! I'm hoping to finish it off this week. Need to catch up on new Creepshow episodes too.

I've been in a very busy period at work lately and haven't had much time for movies, but things have lightened up in the past few days.

I watched Rituals (1977). Really enjoyed this one. Good atmosphere, acting and pacing. It's a Boogeyman-stalker-in-the-woods movie that plays out kind of predictably but I liked it.

I also watched Spookies. I think I need to watch it again though. Not because it was good but because I couldn't follow most of it. It was just a bunch of stuff that happened. I got more entertainment reading about how infamously bad this movie is than watching the actual movie. I think Joe Bob Briggs had this one on last season so I'd be really interested to watch it again with his commentary.

Also jumping on the Fear Street bandwagon. Fun movies but 1666 was a little weak.

I have no idea how to post photos on this board anymore, but check out this awesome record they were selling at Joe Bob's Jamboree this weekend! It has the songs from the first 3 seasons, plus a few extras. John, the guy who does all the songs on the show, obviously recorded it, but he had a pretty solid back up band as well. I think it was a guy from Rob Zombie's band, a guy from My Chemical Romance, and a couple others.
