  1. I wouldn't classify them as dumb, I gladly paid $100 for this album because it is one of my favorite albums and was a must have on my list when I recently started collecting vinyl. Regardless of what my economic situation is, I don't view my records as investments. In my eyes I will gladly pay a premium, even a steep premium if it means I can have a physical copy of an album so I can play it on my favorite format. Albums are all priced by supply and demand but those prices are all inflated by emotional attachment, you may think it is dumb to pay X amount for a record, but for me there are quite a few that I would not mind paying well above the original asking price because of what they mean to me. The Always Open Mouth was one of them, Art Damage wasn't. So I choose to wait on the latter and waited to find it in my price range, but that doesn't always happen. With The Always Open Mouth I didn't want to take that chance so I paid up, and I have no regrets.
  2. Got my first test press ever and it arrived yesterday, purchased The Fall of Troy's Manipulator off a very nice fellow on the Trade/Sale board a week or two ago. Super pumped and plan to spin it a ton, none of this buy it and store it away junk.
  3. I am very new to VC, but I have to say checking this message board constantly at work and catching gems like this make it all worth while. I had been on the hunt for this album for a while and couldn't justify paying eBay prices but jumped on this without a second thought. Haven't got such a huge adrenaline rush from a deal like this one in a while.
  4. Just got my order in... probably only a few left
  5. My dad bought my brother and I a XM radio for Christmas one year, while listening to it I heard a Underoath song that I enjoyed (at the time was into hip hop). A couple days later I went to wal-mart (the only place in town to get cds) and stumbled across they're only chasing safety, decided "what the heck" bought it without hearing any of their other stuff. Came home, put it on my cd players... and instantly thought " my goodness I have made a terrible mistake" it was just too brutal for my virgin ears at the time. Yet, instead of throwing it out I kept listening to it cause i spend $14 dollars, which was 70% of my disposable income at the time. It grew on me and eventually became my favorite album... from there I discovered tooth and nail records and solidstate. Came across a band called Norma Jean, listened to one song, thought "I should buy this" had to go to Media Play to O God, the Aftermath. Got in the car put in on my handheld cd player, and 15 seconds into the first song I thought to myself "my goodness i have made a terrible mistake" and the cycle repeated itself... From that experiance I learned to never judge an album on the first few spins and that if i spend money on an album i will make myself listen to it enough times until i like it..
  6. Good Fight respond to my tweet just now saying that the vinyl is coming.
  7. I am with you... I will now proceed to spend the rest of my work day refreshing until the vinyl appears.
  8. That would be insanely awesome.... I am also loving that poster. Hopefully they'll have it all up soon.
  9. Hey I am looking for the 4 song single of this album that was released on vinyl. It was pressed on white vinyl and has 4 songs on side A and the instrumentals on those songs on side B. If you have this and are willing to sell it to me I would be forever grateful. Thanks in advance.
  10. Yeah, for some reason the Norma Jean Test Press had normal labels.
  11. This is the most absurd thing I've seen on Ebay so far... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Norma-Jean-4x-LP-Box-Set-Test-Press-20-The-Chariot-Zao-Underoath-/380916788044?&_trksid=p2056016.m2516.l5255 He want's $400 for the Norma Jean Boxset Test Press
  12. Hi, I am trying to find a copy of The Growlers - Gay Thoughts, either the 7" or 10". It is a gift for my brother who just graduated from grad school. Would greatly appreciate any help! PM if you got a copy and are willing to part with it. Thanks!
  13. Ordered it, and picked up FBTMOF Odd How People Shake while I was at it. Saw tweet from Good Fight stating that a PO for '68 full length will be going up soon.
  14. Tried PMing and said you couldn't receive any new messages. I am interested in the Art Damage. Will try PMing later.
  15. I second the Chiodos and Maylene picks! Also Sunset Rubdown's "Shut Up I am Dreaming" should also be pressed. Also all of Showbread's and Emery's stuff as well.
  16. What are peoples opinion on the Simple Math tour vinyl? Will it be available online after the tour? Would kill to get my hands on a copy.. Couldn't go to the Buffalo show on account of studying for the CFA exam but it seems like it should be available soon, but correct me if I am wrong.
  17. So I did the test, which had to be cut short due to my buddy needing to get somewhere. We listened to the last two tracks. It went OP GSL disc 2 side B and then MOV Gold disc 2 side B (He insisted on listening to Televators). Sadly we didn't have as much time to test other songs, but the results came up with him favoring the MOV version slightly because he felt it was more even/balanced. Surprisingly though the MOV had more surface noise then the OP GSL. I actually prefer the OP GSL, but I am probably biased. The MOV imo is very detailed and very good, but the OP GSL has a smidgen more depth and an infectious boogie to it. After the test though my buddy (who only listened to Volta in high school) asked if they still had any copies and said he would be picking up a black version of the MOV pressing. In case you where wondering about the set up the system ran as such. A VPI HW-19 Jr with a Dynavector 10X5 on a VPI 10.5i Memorial Arm into a Lehmann Black Cube into a Planar SR2040 (think 70's Marantz) into Acoustic Research 28B Speakers.
  18. Thanks, yeah there was a small warp, but nothing a record clamp couldn't handle. I played it real quick last night and it sounded quite amazing. My buddy is coming over after work so I should have the results up latter tonight. It will be interesting to see if he can notice a difference at all.
