  1. There are some super heavy duty popcorn air popper from the 80's that you can modify. I went to several thrift shops and luckily stumbled upon this The reason you want one from the 80's is due to the bottom (where you place beans) being completely made of solid metal (I think steel or brass) vs today's plastic. It allows you to hit really high temps without messing up your roasting session. I figured out how to rewire it so I could control the fan and the heat separately while also installing a high end thermometer so I could monitor the heat throughout the roasting process. here is a good list of poppers to look out for http://www.sweetmarias.com/airpop/airpopmethod.php For what I use it for and the feedback I have gotten from people who have ask for the coffee I roast I would probably need to plunk down about a grand for a machine to step up my roasting to get a better product. My favorite part of roasting is controlling how dark you take your beans and sometimes I will make a blend where I take one bean (yemen mocha) close to french roast while leaving another in the medium roast (usually la minta) to compliment each other in the blend.
  2. I would check out Seaworth Coffee. I have had their stuff and it is awesome. I would recommend looking at how they brew theirs. I have replicated their formula with a ton of success.
  3. Taught myself how to roast my own coffee in small batches (usually about a pound during a session. The best coffee I have is La Minita out of Costa Rica. Luckily my local shop carries it and I can get in green beans (normally $7.5/lb vs $18/lb roasted) Guess the family that owns La Minita are super selective about who they sell it too as well. Also if you ever want to try Jamaican Blue Mountain I would recommend going to a Starbucks that has a Clover Machine, it cost $4.5 a cup which is cheaper (by the cup) then if you bought a lb of it there and took it home. They typically get the JBM during the fall so keep an eye out. Also all this talk of Kona has me craving some... gotta hit my local shop to grab some geen beans...
  4. The day you find the Mars Volta entry on MOV's online catalog is the day the chance of a MOV repress of Frances the Mute ticks above 0%.
  5. Such an amazing band and had a big influence on my life. This was an easy buy. $30 for the LP and 7 inch isn't bad pricing at all, especially with the free shipping and no tax.
  6. That is crazy... I would love to hear the back story on how this individual got their hands on all of those.
  7. Saw several folks on instagram posting pics of their copies within the last 24 hours. Really hoping to find this on my porch after work today.
  8. I got a shipping notice from Bullmoose yesterday that my preorder had been boxed and was ready to go out with the next shipping pick up. i am just crossing my fingers that they also got the orange as well.
  9. Come on! I'll bet that you maxed out at $175. What would reallllllllllly suck is if No Sleep see's all the cash they made off this test pressing and puts up another test pressing of '68 and that one goes for $80.
  10. Congrats, so may I ask what was the maximum amount that you actually put in?
  11. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Let Love In - 1994 Germany press for $25 bucks at my local record store. Literally the only album by them I wanted and it was mint condition.
  12. I was sitting there at $70 and then the storm hit with 2 seconds left. So where you the lucky individual to pay the sweet total of $132.50?
  13. hahaha i can't wait for the details of this whole fiasco with mov and tmv to come out.... some people on the deloused thread will be eating crow.... and it appears for once the crazy ranting lunatic (cedric) was actually telling the truth the whole time...
  14. Looking to pick this up on vinyl, PM if you would be willing to sell this at a reasonable price.Prefer to buy it from someone in the US vs overseas to save on shipping.
  15. I am ok admitting to buying Pokemon cards because I was 10-12, but Yugioh cards is a whole different matter... I will deny it to this day that I collected these at the ripe age of 15... I actually had blocked it out until I read this post... damn...
  16. Any and all people trying to dump their Manchester Orchestra stuff at inflated prices since the represses have come out.
  17. This was an easy choice, one of my favorite bands of all time. Also some of the coolest dudes ever, talked to them at show and they where amazing. Plus they use to occasionally do these blog entries that where amazing... here is an example... http://www.whattodoabout.com/2008/04/10/what-to-do-about-cats/ there are two others that I know, one about filling in for ETID to play drums and the other was about meeting fans at shows. Also quick random question here, but I know that T&N's catalog is with Christian Capital Music Group, but what if the He is Legend gang wanted to press some of their old records to sell on tour, could they do that? It would seem weird that the artist couldn't press their own music.... but I am not an expert in this matter.
  18. Snagged this for $75 off eBay earlier this month and it was still sealed, and I would argue the pressing sounds great;. I compared it to the 7 inch that they put out in 2002 with mewithoutyou and the sound was pretty much exactly the same.It appears that BTMAKTC was cut a lot hotter then the other two, but if you push the volume on the latter two all the details pop with awesome clarity. I would easily prefer to listen to these albums on vinyl vs cd any day of the week.
  19. Please site your source where it says black was limited to 1500.
  20. I want to know why they won't be carrying De-Loused anymore?? It didn't seem like the black would be a one and done pressing. Using the mosaic theory, it leads me to believe that MOV/Universal Europe unintentionally or intentionally screwed up and is getting squeezed by the Mars Volta's legal team. I am betting Frances the Mute is not going to happen (unless it comes out through Nadie) and MOV will end up paying out a settlement to TMV.
  21. It's all pretty weird, though I am glad that I jumped on a copy of Frances the Mute at a good price when people where anticipating MOV would also be repressing it.
  22. Hey so it looks like the Mars Volta catalog has been taken off of the Music on Vinyl website... Does anybody have any insight into what may have happened? This link is no longer working... http://www.musiconvinyl.com/catalog/the-mars-volta/de-loused-in-the-comatorium#.U5hm-_ldXwo
  23. sweet, thank you very much and I will be careful not to repeat your mistake!
  24. Stupid noob question here but how are you able to check the inventory levels on merchnow and such?
