Streetlight Manifesto/BOTAR Re-Issues
tonyregret replied to SmikeX13's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Would love to get that BOTAR release but not with the shipping cost -
Literally every season finale of the show except for 9 ended on a cliffhanger. They did it that way because that's how the show works, and because it will be back. I liked this episode. It was a nice throwback to the fans. The CSM/Mulder scene was as tense as any of their previous encounters. For a second I thought that Krycek was back too, but that would not be the case. This was Scully's best episode of the mini series. I thought that the new agents worked better in this episode then the previous. I have no problem if the show decides to keep them around as support, but I don't think i'd want to see the torch passed to them. My problems with the revival. Skinner was completely underutilized. I wish that the show hadn't hyped the return of the lone gunmen and kept it as a surprise, because a lot of people thought the canon would be retconned to have them alive. I also would have liked it if the show made a separate reintroductory/first episode, and made My Struggle 1 + 2 air back to back as the finale. It didn't make sense that Mulder figured out this new conspiracy and it wasn't even mentioned again until 5 episodes later. The writing was ok, the show was in a decline during season 7 and this miniseries felt no different from that point.

So many legit laugh out loud moments in episode 3, it was up there with Jose Chung and Bad Blood. This was the first episode of the revival that I feel would not have been out of place on the show during its heyday.

PO Soon?: Face to Face - Protection
tonyregret replied to regan138's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
grabbed the color variant, these probably won't last long -
Great episode though. Not sure if I believe the new conspiracy theory after the previous nine seasons setup everything so well.

Very sad news, 2016 seems like it will be a big year for Phantasm. The new 4K restoration of the original film is coming out, as well as Ravager. It's a shame that Angus won't be able to be a part of it.

WTB: The Slackers (Looking for 3 Specific ones!)
tonyregret replied to Beardedbotanist's topic in Sale/Trade/Wants
I've also been trying to find the 12" of My Bed Is A Boat, like most Slackers vinyl it is a rarity. I'm also always looking out for Self Medication -
I finally got around to checking out Digging Up The Marrow, mostly because I am hooked on Holliston and wanted more Adam Green stuff to watch. It was ok, I didn't enjoy it as much as Frozen or Hatchet. Ray Wise didn't carry the role as strong as he normally would. The monster effects looked great, I thought that the final half hour of the movie was the best. Tomorrow night I am finally going to see Krampus. I also just got the latest Scream Factory release The Car, so that will be watched at some point this week.

Do you have any Scream Factory releases?

Agreed. I wanted to love this movie, but instead I really liked it. The new cast are great, and welcomed fresh additions to the Star Wars universe. The movie feels like the old Star Wars, the world's and technology felt real...rather than the super polished look of the prequels. It erases much of the stench that the prequels left, and felt like the natural progression from ROTJ. It has its issues, and it definitely plays it safe. But the foundation has been laid for the next two films to build on.

No, that's just dumb. And that's every used record I've ever bought at Princeton record exchange. -
BossToneS vs. Asbestos Records Reissues?

I'm not even saying Flood is in the wrong here. I support his label and have almost all the ska related stuff he put out. This album in particular came out bad and the band is calling him out on it. -

It's not horrible. If the Brand New release came out fucked up and the band spoke out against it, we wouldn't be having this conversation. -

They really sound nothing like that. I can't imagine what the reaction would be if Flood or another similar label licensed...Brand New's Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. And the label changed the artwork and misspelled a bunch of shit, not one or two things but eight or nine. And you paid a lot of money for it, only to find our Brand New didn't want the thing released. This thread would be a completely different vibe. -

Because maybe they wanted their Big Rig label to do these releases and Flood beat them to it. He obviously has a contact at the major that gets these licenses done for him. -

Coughlin's Laws of Vinyl Collective "Anything else is always something better." "Think of the customer as a hurdler thinks of a hurdle: a means to an end. We dazzle him with ice work, we baffle him with bottle work." "There are many ways to fool a customer. The short pour. The long pour. The ice mountain, the spring thaw. The speed-rack shuffle, the hot shot." "Beer is for breakfast around here, drink or be gone." "A bartender is the aristocrat of the working class." "A man will always be judged on the amount of alcohol he can consume. And a woman will be impressed, whether she likes it or not." "Never show surprise, never lose your cool." "There are two kinds of people in this world, the workers and the hustlers. The hustlers never work and the workers never hustle." "The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got." "Bury the dead, they stink up the joint." -
BossToneS vs. Asbestos Records Reissues?
tonyregret replied to jhulud's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
You're talking about a band that hasn't been on a major label since 2001 and only plays a dozen shows a year because all the members have careers outside of being the Bosstones. They don't care about exposure at this point or how many albums are sold. If they needed money, they would be touring half the year. It's also ironic that the dude who runs a ska label (which there are like 5) would have a problem with arguably the biggest ska band in the world. -
tulips on an organ for real though, that album was my jam

Someone else posted about against me not being on board with their New Wave reissue, I had not heard anything to that effect until this Bosstones stuff happened. Does anyone know the story?
