I actually was 100% expecting a track like this. I assume there's no way we get pure heavy blitz non-stop for 16 songs, so songs similar to "Revival Mode", "It Remembers" etc. had to show up eventually. And typically ETID does music videos for their most 'accessible' stuff. I will agree it's my least favorite of the 4 now released, but thats not saying much. Still enjoyed it alot and I have a feeling it'll be a grower. I also feel like the new 'twist' for ETID sound this album is a kind of punk-rock/indie feel to some of Keith's vocal melodies/phrasing. I'm kinda digging it.

Same! The only reservation I have now is that UO also is releasing a new album prior to that tour...in January 2022. I almost feel like that being the big tour for ETID, may point toward a super late Dec 2021/January 2022 release date for the new album. Which is fine, it's just been so damn long

Agreed. Was my exact thoughts - the drumming and drum mix was so much better this album. They sound HUGE. There was one song though where the drum timing sounds super off. Like everything else is straight 4/4 time in the song yet the drums almost have a swing feel, it’s super weird and kinda distracting. Am I the only one who noticed that?

I get this for sure. Like was said before, confidence sets in, and my brain runs wild sometimes 😝 I feel like I may have overused the “AOTY” term too much too. In reality, even if this is Turnstiles BEST album to date, how can I truly judge how it stacks up against other albums this year, if I haven’t listened to everything so far. Also, is “AOTY” subjective based on genre? Or are we putting for example/and hypothetically a new ETID album against Leon Bridges new record from last month? IMO, you do, but wondering what other think.

Agreed. Honestly, i feel like it's whether ETID actually releases the album this year or not that determines AOTY. If they do, I just have a feeling it's going to be their heaviest yet. Though, this new stuff from turnstile is absolutely fire

This is the classic instance where someone who is completely unaware of a band, becomes aware at a time where coincidentally said band decides to shift their sound and polarize their fanbase. And typically that someone ends up enjoying the band a lot. That someone, is me. Bye, bye 👋

Agreed! I get it, many people have moved on from these guys and rightfully so, but this next album really seems like a true possible return-to-form. I fee like most everyone here though is super scared to like this new stuff for whatever reason. After that snippet though, count me ALL THE WAY IN. Hype! Need an announcement now!

My wife is from New Braunfels, TX (45 min south of Austin), I can attest that it is actually a living hell in Austin June-October. A wet, sticky, humid mess. But god damn do they have one of the best music scenes in the country as well as THE best Tex-Mex and BBQ imo. So, makes up for it a bit.

What's a bit odd too, is some of the members getting VERY defensive on socials about peoples asking about it. I mean, I get it, it's none of our business, but really whats the harm even if the release date is a few months away, of just announcing it? Like you said, when they go out and say "soon"/"next week"/etc, that kinda gets expectations up lol Which again, makes me think something happened that was possibly real personal and led to a small delay. And now when people ask, members get defensive knowing they dont want to divulge the personal matter that was the reason behind the delay. All in all - im just so freaking ready to spend all my moneys on all the variants lolololololol

3+ months later with still no announcement or anymore new songs yet i feel like some stuff was going down with Keith possibly or maybe some prior commitments with wrestling that Andy had to do. They also had to cancel a show last minute too. 😔 Any way, per the band and some of the guys IG stories over the last few days, looks like they may be shooting a music video? If so, I'm going to assume we get an announcement along with a music video for a new single pretty soon. Have heard rumblings it's coming out in October/November which makes sense for an August announcement.

Just as an added point, while I enjoyed "Coloratura", I haven't considered myself a Coldplay fan since "Viva La Vida". That was their last album I could actually listen to, front to back.
