  1. I feel you. I don't know, maybe I'm just in the minority there then. After hearing Keith's interview with Jesse Leach about the story behind Low Teens lyrics/theme, that album just started to really get personal. Every time I hear those songs I put myself in those shoes and how horrible it would all be. I also fell in love with the production. Will's ability to make the drums sound BIGGER than any ETID record to that point had me hooked (I'm a drummer, so that's where my bias comes in 🤭).
  2. Also, I think I've read about 10 of the album reviews out there so far and I gotta say, the consensus is: this may very well be, even given how monumental Low Teens was, ETID's best work to date. I haven't been excited about an album like this since, well, ever. May just start buying CD copies anywhere I go to give to strangers. Because everyone deserves to enjoy something this great.
  3. I really wish they would've sold the alt screen-printed cover outside of a bundle. Because I'm worried possible supply chain delays with the either the slipmat or pop-socket will hold-up my pre-order 😔
  4. Although I can say I pretty much agree with your first statement about the side-projects, that's just a personal preference thing. As for the second statement, No Closer To Heaven to me is such an epic album. Different? For sure. Nowhere near the classic that The Greatest Generation was? Cant argue that. But man, there are some of my favorite songs on it: The Bluest Things on Earth, You in January, Palm Reader and I wanted So Badly to be Brave are just some awesomely written songs. And then there's the heavy hitters: Stained Glass Ceilings and what will always be a song that makes me cry - - Cigarettes & Saints. The latter being a cathartic crescendo. As a drummer, it's one of my absolute favorite songs to play. My only real gripe with the record is the production. I think that's where they lost a lot of people, even if those people didn't even realize it. The production is sloppy, the drums sound dry and the guitars almost feel void of any clarity throughout. Dan's vocals and lyrics save it all though and help me look past those sonic shortcomings.
  5. Seems to be. Really hoping it's a decent press. I've never heard anything about the OG press, so not sure if they simply used the same stampers or not. I really really really really really want this one. Was one of those seminal albums for me
  6. Grabbed this as well as This Is War which also is getting the 2xLP Remastered 45RPM treatment. Have always wanted both of those
  7. What an awesome moment. Also, the fact that album is that old now just blows my mind. God I'm old. PS: I so regret not making an effort to go to Furnace Fest, from everything I saw online about it, it was absolutely epic. Hoping for another great lineup next year and that I'll be able to go then
  8. 100% agree. I also feel like the whole "3 Acts - The Rise, The Fall & Recognition" thing totally didn't get a properly explored. Would've loved a true concept album where you actually split up the songs, and the storyline throughout details two lovers falling in and tragically out of love. Characters based on a reality but enough generality to allow for listener to interpret and apply to their own lives more. Some of the album was almost too personal and specific to the point it just didn't hit with me. But hey, it probably hit with others and that's just the way music is. 'hookup scene' is essentially what I expected from Kacey. That type of instrumentation and production just resonated with me emotionally way more than anything else on the album.
  9. Independent Record Stores who then lose thousands of dollars on aging stock they can't move..
  10. Yea I honestly just wanted a copy regardless. My local had one copy and it was just sitting behind the counter, I just happen to see it and get it. Stoked! Such an epic album - currently my AOTY. Now let's see what ETID brings with Radical next month 😁
  11. My thoughts too. Side A of Kid A is really close to that maximum, but at least Treefingers isnt a super loud one, maybe the inner groove distortion will be menial
  12. Research I did says at 33 1/3rpm that Optimal side length is 16-20 minutes. Maximum is 25 minutes. Kid A is 47 min 12 sec (Side A = 24 min 27 sec + Side B = 22 min 45 sec) Amnesiac is 43 min 57 sec (Side A = 20 min 59 sec + Side B = 22 min 53 sec)
  13. Same. Also, how is this a half-speed remaster but crammed on 1 disk each? Does "half-speed" cutting not always mean 45rpm? I'll admit I'm a bit ignorant on that kinda stuff...
  14. Does it make any sense? No. Is it pleasant to my brain/ears? No. But would Melonhead give it a dang 10/10 review if it was really a new Weezer album? 100% YES
  15. Bahahahaha exactly what I think of anytime I hear grape soda. “Whats juice!?!??”
  16. Man I could listen to her sing the damn phonebook. Single isn't earth shattering, but I also felt like, with the way she explained the album, that this would be a group of songs better suited as body of work instead of singles here and there. Will hold out for the indie exclusive. Our girl is back!!! 🥰
  17. Not many are talking about that new song, i freaking loved it. I actually got chills like I was listening to *Fin for the first time or something
  18. My personal list: 1. Life Is Not A Waiting Room 2. The Fire 3. ITILIWFY I was a bit late to the SF party - loved "Can't Be Saved" and "Calling All Cars" but had never really listened to anything off Let It Enfold You. LINAWR came out and I loved it front to back. Family Tradition still holds a really special place for me for personal reasons. For that time in my life, I just really related to that entire album and it made me fall in love with SF. Then The Fire came out and it was great. Didn't care for Renacer at all or anything on PTTFYH, but ITILIWFY blew me away (mainly because Dan Trapp was back on drums at least in the studio). Anyways, just my two cents. As for the new song, yea, not my favorite.
  19. Was bummed about this too. Especially considering we have 16 songs to play with here, the fact the decided to go this route was a bit odd. Though, I'll admit, I dont have any idea the cost implications of going the half-speed 45RPM master route vs. typical 33 1/3 RPM with a side D etching. But here's how they could've easily, again taking financials out of the picture, went with the 45RPM config (below). A couple pros I get from going this route: A Colossal Wreck & Desperate Pleasures get together, as they were meant to be 3 of 4 sides are almost right at that 12 minute side optimal length. Even SIDE C at 14 minutes is within the maximum SIDE A 1. Dark Distance 2:54 2. Sly 2:31 3. Planet Shit 3:57 4. Post-Boredom 3:16 SIDE A RUNTIME 12:38 SIDE B 5. A Colossal Wreck 2:28 6. Desperate Pleasures 3:12 7. All This And War 3:11 8. Thing With Feathers 3:38 SIDE B RUNTIME 12:29 SIDE C 9. Hostile Architecture 2:37 10. AWOL 2:11 11. The Whip 2:30 12. White Void 3:35 13. Distress Rehearsal 3:13 SIDE C RUNTIME 14:06 SIDE D 14. sexsexsex 3:28 15. People Verses 3:33 16. We Go Together 5:03 SIDE D RUNTIME 12:04 PS: this took like 30 minutes of my time. For absolutely no reason, dont hate.
  20. Yo @ethereal you gonna update the thread title? My OCD is starting to kick in and bother me... lol 😅
  21. Went with the black alt cover. Dont need any of the other crap, but i really dont enjoy the regular cover, and the black alt cover was my fav
  22. Lol what a travesty - They had to split up "A Colossal Wreck" and "Desperate Pleasures". The latter being the first track on Side B. That transition is so great
