And this isn't damaged goods. I like record jackets as much as the next guy but the "good" is NOT particularly damaged when the record itself is still fully functional and undamaged.

that would be incorrect though, the package is a part of it. would you accept a book with the cover torn off? it's not like you're reading the cover. or basically any collector shit, action figures, collector cards, fuckin forget about retaining value of sneakers if you don't have the box or the box is crushed. If record sleeves don't count as "the goods", why even both printing them, just send them out in a generic cardboard slipcover.

If you're paying for something, you're paying for the FULL package, otherwise you shouldn't be paying full price.

  2. I emailed to see what the status was since the last update in early Jan said they expected shipping at the start of the month, got this back:

The boxset assembly process is underway and the pressing plant is telling us that they’re planning to start shipping the completed packages mid-February. They estimated that the it will take approximately 10-12 days to ship everything out, so we’re hoping that everyone’s orders will coming to them before the end of the month.

I'm surprised that Anthology never has been pressed. I feel like there was a Kickstarter or something similar years ago, but I don't think it ever actually happened.

I just did a search, there was a kickstarter for another band that had members of AAF, but I don't see anything specifically for AAF albums. very surprising that it's CD & cassette only and even then discogs doesn't list anything made after 2002

forgive me for dwelling on the details (or lack thereof), and do not mistake me for taking sides, but: if ETID allegedly wanted to move on without keith, why didn't they just... move on without keith. like, if keith is justified in preserving himself and leaving the band, why are the remaining four members agreeing to dissolve everything? it just doesn't make sense to me. i hope it was a misunderstanding but at this point it doesn't really matter if it was or wasn't, and we won't really ever have clarity either given the two sides of this. but it's just not adding up for me. (while my wife keeps telling me "plenty of bands have broken up over misunderstandings" while i go full charlie kelly conspiracy gif)

do you really think fans would accept ETID without keith? highly unlikely. yeah, they could just get someone else, get a new name and write new material, starting from scratch, but theyd have to sound pretty different to get traction IMO (think Prophets of Rage, who wants to listen to that when there’s the original lineup and material?) and if they break out any ETID tracks at shows i think die hard fans might turn on them a bit and it would definitely fuel bad blood with keith.

things don’t really add up on either side, i can’t place this solely on keith. it really seems like he’s not well and needs help, time away to get his shit together, and that letter he posted was definitely a “we want you out of the band” move. we’ll never really know the full story, even if they make up, maybe not to be a band again but just be friends, all the details will never come out. and they shouldn’t, really.

  5. fuck. fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. ETID has been probably top three for me since Logic first dropped. I put off getting a ticket to the Underoath tour because I'm still doubtful of any shows coming to canada anytime soon so I'm glad I didn't get a ticket, and I'm thankful that I got to see the band when I could.

I had a feeling that this was coming but it still sucks that it actually happened.

Yes, they probably got into legal trouble from the Beach Boys which doesn't surprise me given the size and cultural significance of that band. I'm sure its still on the physical copies since the masters were approved a long time ago.  I would assume future pressings will not have it though.

It does suck, its one of the best samples I've ever heard. At least our physical copies are probably fine. This is why I dislike streaming in general, though, since things can be changed so suddenly and you don't own your music

Physical copies aren't available in canada as far as I've found so far, I'm hoping it's not an edit once I can get my hands one at some point. This did prompt me to by the FLAC from their bandcamp though, the sample is still in that release at the moment.

I’m sure everyone who cares gets the emails by now, but Sloan is putting out a collection of their hardcore originals and covers from a little while back (originally a 7” and a digital album):

instant buy, once a year I tweet at the band asking if they're ever going to put this on vinyl and never get a reply.

There are some killer record stores in Van! I'm sure if you asked them to order stuff in for you, they would.

I was actually in Neptune last weekend asking if they would be getting in any Knocked Loose or Turnstile. I'm sure they'll eventually get in some standard black but it sucks to have to skip the limited variants  to skip basically paying double for an album.
