The 3 lyrics in question were always censored on official releases (including the original 1994 ones). Not sure why everyone is worried about that so much. The samples being in tact are a way bigger deal.

I don't think many people really care about the lyric changes that much at all it was def. all about the samples. The world trade lyrics weren't censored on the official release though? The same guy said "World Trade" lyrics are back anyways though so all that's left out is the lyric changes above which are not too big of a deal at all.

Excellent! I have the RSD pressing, which in my opinion is kinda subpar, so I ended up rolling the die and reupping my membership solely for the chance to get UGK later in the month.  Would you happen to know if it has the correct samples for "Ready to Die"?

Yeah, the same guy confirmed that as well so it looks to have everything from the original release sample wise.

Looks like a few lyrics were altered/censored though...

Thanks for confirming the samples. Did you listen for whether or not the original "uncensored" lyrics (not curse words, but the words "blue suits" in MGF and "Pregnant"/"Strangled" in Gimme the Loot) were used.

    blue suits

Bad news, it's replaced by sirens.

Also pregnant and strangled are warped censored.

    :l

I asked him about "World Trade" in Juicy being censored so we'll see about that.

Honestly though I would have much rather had the original lyrics as well but I can live with these changes with all the samples being back in tact at least.

  3. Well, great news on Ready To Die!

It was a roller coaster since someone posted the liner notes from this release first and it did not show several of the samples that had been removed but a few people have listened to there copies and supposedly all the samples are back in tact including the Parliament sample on Machine Gun Funk. So I guess they just used an older liner sheet and forgot to update it for this release? Either way, it got me much more pumped to get this in the mail now. They are also saying it sounds great.

Sounds like SRC, I mean VMP done fucked up I ordered my NoName first day avliable. Not getting one so far. Just bugs me VMP saying "should have ordered sooner" umm how bout you press a few moRe.? Make more money and the fans are happy? Just a thought . I only re-upped for biggie. Better be something like Dr. Lector to get me back

NoName had a vinyl release party where she sold & signed copies while people are also saying she has been hinting on twitter about selling them soon as well so i'm thinking it was a bigger pressing and VMP did not get them all. I would follow her on Twitter if you want a copy because if she does they will probably go fast as well.

  5. Complete must have for sure but sadly, as usual I will not be buying from them because of there ridiculous shipping and almost every album is available for half the price after release all over the place. The only time I even think about it is when they include a pre-order only item I really want.

With the new Evidence album right around the corner I will probably be pre-ordering that from them and hope to see this available for a decent price elsewhere. There is no indication that it is a limited run right?

Some people may have made it off the list, but not more than like 5. Hardly anyone has dropped out.

On the 2nd, we go to charge anyone who is signed up. If they don't have active pay options or they decide to drop when we email to say we're charging them, then there MIGHT be spaces. Not that there WILL, but there MIGHT. At that point, SOME people MIGHT make it in for Noname. I would bet that sometime next week, you'll find out for sure that you did or did not get in for Noname.

Remember for the future that you can't trust anything lasting. If you think you might want something, get on it ASAP.

If they used it on announcement day I'd email them.  Sometimes referrals get messed up on announcement day.  I find if they don't show up the same day they aren't go to show up.

Yeah, that makes sense. I forgot to ever message them on a release 2 months ago because I never got credit as well. They need to do something with the referral system to make it more accurate, I bet they get ridiculous amounts of emails. Thanks for the reply!

So if you use someone's referral code, does that get you $10 off a future purchase?

Yup, I am pretty sure it will take it off the subscription price though if you do it before September 2nd. After September 2nd you get charged immediately so the $10 credit does not get applied towards the membership unless you leave it in your account until your membership ends.

Didn't see anyone mention this but they're also doing a new rap/hip-hop add-on and for their first edition of it the very first pressing of Noname's Telephone.  I'm really excited about that, I'd recommend it if you like soulful or jazzy hip-hop.  https://vinylmeplease.typeform.com/to/XfN2Ub

Hell yeah, I was hoping this would get on vinyl eventually! It is weird because like an hour or two ago I noticed the rap/hip hop add-on and they had it as Commons Electric Circus which I was going to pass on but I will def. sign up now.

For anyone wondering, it is $23 per month for the add-on.

Very true.  But you probably could have said the same exact thing about Demon Days.  Who would have thought.

Yeah, I can see a deal just like the Gorillaz did where it will be an ecxlusive VMP release for now with no guarantee's for the future. Honestly, from a marketing standpoint it would be a great decision as VMP has a very large audience now so it will spread like wildfire and everybody is going to know about it. Probably more then most labels could accomplish these days plus VMP also does the majority of the heavy lifting.

I am just happy to be able to anticipate a supposedly big hip hop release since I was not a huge fan of there other 2 recent "huge releases".

I noticed Big L - Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous is also on the guess list which I do not think is going to be the AOTM but I would love to see the shock and disgust in that thread after seeing the current reaction to Ready To Die haha

You can't buy ready to die on Amazon though. Not at normale prices. Still hope it is ready to die.

    You can, Ready To Die

Bad Boy just butchered the living hell out of the remastered versions from the samples, to removing/censoring some lyrics and also on an aesthetic level, changing the cover. They could have at least done everyone a favor and cut out Puff Daddy so I did not have to still hear him all throughout the album.

I would be SHOCKED if they could pull off Ready to Die with all of the original samples. It's gotta be something else.

Yeah,  I fully don't expect them to actually get all the original samples cleared but if they somehow pulled it off it would be a huge move for them considering it would be another massive release while also going after a whole new audience that might have had no interest in the other big releases. Regardless after reading the clues that have been confirmed so far I am pretty sure I will be reupping for it.

It's funny seeing some of the members acting all disgusted because it is "gangsta rap"

One of VMP employee's left this as well...

our edition of this rap album is remastered for vinyl, and is restoring things that have not been on the full, official vinyl editions of this, ever. You can buy it on Amazon, but you can't buy this version, since it will be only available through us.

along with it being before 1997.

Went ahead and subscribed for a month with a referral link for the 21 savage album. Can record swaps only be done with multi month subs? I'd love to get Pinkerton instead of the national.

You have to at least have the 3 month sub to do any swaps.

I haven't been following next months guess thread too closely but it seems like the majority is thinking it is going to be Biggies Ready To Die which I would gladly reup for but some people took it a step further and said it might have most/all the original samples which if true would make it easily the best AOTM they ever had for me personally.

I'm headed to Cactus Music in Houston here in a bit. There might be some signed copies of this available still. I can grab one (if not sold out) for anyone interested. Not sure of the price.
