Unfortunately, comedy and art tend to have a liberal bias.

Chris Staples is the man. His last three albums are all pretty awesome. Badlands is more moody and less potent but it's still a fun listen, American Soft is his breakout into full-current-Chris Staples magic, and Golden Age is like a tighter, cleaner version of what he started on American Soft. At this point, it feels like he's in a groove and can write his quirky pop songs effortlessly. Funny guy too (check his Instagram/Facebook).
Speaking of which...I am selling a new/sealed copy of American Soft (Barsuk version, small seam split at top) for $14 shipped. PM me if you're down.

Question for y'all- was one pouch of the double sleeve gatefold supposed to be empty? It seemed weird that the right pouch had the LP and the left pouch was just air.

Maybe he will give 2016 subscribers a 15% off discount on the 2017 subscription.

You make some great points. Give me some time to absorb them and reconsider my positions on immigration, marriage, Planned Parenthood, female reproductive rights, education, and the environment.

Technically, they could deport every illegal immigrant, ban same-sex marriage, ban abortions, defund Planned Parenthood entirely, and teach children that global warming is a dirty lie and it wouldn't affect my life much at all because I'm a straight adult American-born dude but I still feel weird gambling with the quality of other peoples' lives in order to make a personal idealogical statement like "Down with the system!" So, I'm voting for the choice that will keep that slow progressive momentum going. I'll save my "blow it up" and "let's hit rock bottom and start over" urges for the day when I find my old SimCity 2000 CD-ROMs.

He is either 13 years old or he has a personality disorder. Panic buying records and then listing and tweaking those listings seems to give his life a purpose.

Agree with the exclusives. But that's only because you can choose from a couple different ones and most likely find something you like. From what I've seen on the VMP message boards, people are pretty satisfied with the AOTM format and are mainly there to discover something that they might not have heard before. I just signed up in August, mainly to get Z, but I'm going to stick with it for a couple of months and see how it works out. The fact that Glass Animals is this month's AOTM isn't a bad thing either.
I'm really intrigued by how malleable and eager to enjoy new music some of the posters there are. I've been keeping tabs on VMP since near the beginning and only Pinkerton and Z were records I was interested in owning. Conversely, there is a long thread there of people sharing how they've been playing the Glass Animals stream on repeat and they'll keep doing it until they like it or how they've never heard the band, they plan not to listen until the LP arrives in the mail, and they're super excited just to own it.

Every time I see a CYLS sale on here, I get reminded of the scrapped new Kind of Like Spitting album they were supposed to put out and I get bummed/annoyed that there was never any update or acknowledgement about it being canceled.

He's lucky he only got banned for 48 hours. Starting in November, if all goes well, all users who down-vote Trump posts or complain about cassette bootlegs will be permanently banned and placed on a list, which we'll give to our people to look at. We'll have great people taking a look at this list.

^ This is why some people view these kinds of violent/extreme ideas unhelpful to a cause. They give people the opportunity to deflect and shift focus away from the issues and toward a "us vs. them" argument like "See! The left are more violent than the right!" "So much for being tolerant!" etc etc.. In reality, you're one dude making t-shirts in Photoshop because you're upset about Trump but, in their mind, you now represent the Left and the Left's hatred and violence and hypocrisy. I'm sure you'll now be a reference or counter-point anytime the topic of extremism or violence on the right comes up in the non-music discussion forum ("You are offended that Trump suggested someone assassinate Clinton?! There are liberals on this board selling violent anti-Trump assassination shirts!").

It's being sold as an "art piece", not as a commercial piece of physical music, so the laws and ethics of pricing a 12" record do not apply.

I'd like to request the ability to search for short words, like, let's say, REM or R.E.M.
-
It's a band with a large following of people who are in the second half of their lives and have more disposable income and nostalgia. It's also being packaged as a box set I believe, so there may be more thought/cost going into the packaging.
I've paid $40 for a single LP of REM demos and bootleg live recordings so $70 for Out of Time plus 2 LPs of demos seems doable for me.

Not that I wanted to pay $100 for this but I'm curious why I didn't receive an email about it. I signed up for VIP about 3 weeks ago.

Import CDs has the Hong Kong/import version for like $25 I think? It was either them or Deepdiscount.com.

They didn't give a date.

So I preordered Odelay through Sound Stage for $19.99. Currently it is listed as "discontinued" but SoundStage never refunded my paypal account. Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this? Is it happening and if so, when?
They were asked by the label to stop taking orders for the $19.99 version but SoundStage said that they are going to fulfill those orders and that the $19.99 listing would go back up eventually.
