  1. Wow! A thread on VC devolves into hate speech and name calling. Now I've seen everything! /sarcasm Can we get this back on track and talk about the records? The Faith No More song is excellent. I'm not sold on the remix on the b-side yet, but the a-side rocks. The quality on the Green Day record is great. Decent song selection too. Too many "ayyy ohhhs" for liking though. I really dig the Morrissey-picked Ramones LP. Also a high-quality release. No new ground, but a cool selection of tunes. The alternate versions of the Jenny Lewis tunes are killer. I didn't care much for the Against Me 7". They're newer stuff isn't my cup of tea. And the Dead Milkmen LP rules. The sound is a bit lower than my OG copy and having Bitchin' Camaro on the a-side to accommodate closing the record with Tugena kind of threw me off, but man is it a great listen. And the addition of the Cd/cassette only tracks was a nice bonus and made me feel better about buying it. I haven't listened to the Joey Ramone 10" yet, but I already know all of the songs on it. Bought it because I'm a total sucker for Ramones-related records. Overall, good stuff. I avoided Husker Du because it was $40 and I thought that was insane. I thought Wu-Tang was too expensive too. I may go back today. My local shop had tons of leftovers as of last night. If anyone is desperate for something (I don't know what Death Grips is, but I know they didn't have it) hit me up and I'll try to accommodate.
  2. If anyone has an OG Big Lizard and is on the fence about buying the reissue today - get it. The repress has the bonus Cassette/CD tracks on it - Gorilla Girl and Tugena. Worth having another copy.
  3. I'm glad there wasn't a separate thread. Typically if this one gets bumped it's for good reason.
  4. Bump for the Decline pic disc in case folks overlooked it.
  5. How was it half-assed? A lot of labels only give one colored vinyl when people ordered two - it's been that way for a while now. It seems like everyone who ordered in time got red.
  6. Good to know. So the EU press of Killers has Twilight Zone. Nice.
  7. I would assume the US and EU pressings would be distinguishable by their track sequence (if they stayed true to the originals).
  8. I haven't seen them live since 2009, and didn't really dig American Slang or Handwritten, so that could have a lot to do with it too.
  9. I saw them at ACL over the weekend. I haven't seen them since shortly after The '59 Sound came out (and I saw them a bunch after Sink or Swim). They were pretty bad. No energy, Brian looked and sounded terrible and they focused way too much on slower tunes. I really dig the new record, but it doesn't translate very well live for me. Maybe they just don't do the big festival thing very well.
  10. I listened to the reissue on black vinyl last night and it sounded great - much better than the original. I was kind of bummed that you have to download to get the extra tracks.
  11. I've been buying records via Mailorder for almost 25 years and have only contacted labels for replacements three times, and its never been about the jacket. Twice was because the records were literally broken and once was from a pressing defect where the record had big gouges in the grooves.
  12. New Swingin Utters up now. http://www.fatwreck....cord/detail/932

  14. I'll have to check mine. A lot of black vinyl from the late 80s/early 90s (especially when pressed on the cheap) looks clear brown in the light. I haven't seen that much with LPs, but a lot of 7"s from that era are like that.
  15. I hated Handwritten and I thought American Slang was pretty bad. Much to my surprise, I LOVE this album. There's so much dispair hidden in there. Yeah, it's a rock record, not a punk record, but it's just terrific.
  16. I never purposely sought one out. I have a cool one of Ramones - Halfway To Sanity (signed by Joey to a guy named Bob) and I have one of the Del Fuegos - Boston, Mass.
  17. This thing just went for $100 on ebay. Shit, maybe I'll sell mine.
  18. In my experience, yes. I've only had three or four, but they're just awful. There's a ton of surface noise and the music is muddled.
  19. Maybe. But glow in the dark records sound absolutely terrible. Worse than the worst picture discs. It's cool - but it's going to sound awful.
  20. Pretty impressive. The demo snippets sound great too.
  21. Yeah, it's expensive. But it's glow in the dark, so it'll sound like shit too!
  22. This thing smoked the $27K goal pretty quickly. Some of the new perks look great, especially the one with the Kill The Musicians test presses (I already have a set, or I'd be all over it). https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/screeching-weasel-baby-fat-act-1/contributions/new?perk_amt=550&perk_id=2189128 https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/screeching-weasel-baby-fat-act-1
