Desert Sessions 11 &12 October 25th
faaip de oiad replied to faaip de oiad's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
So just found this on the nytimes: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/12/arts/music/fall-music-pop-jazz-calendar.html I'll save you the pain of clicking: THE DESERT SESSIONS Between 1997 and 2003, the Queens of the Stone Age leader Joshua Homme released a series of 10-inch records and CDs documenting “the Desert Sessions” — a series of shaggy yet propulsive songwriting collaborations with his Rolodex of alt- and stoner-rock luminaries, recorded in Joshua Tree, Calif. Homme returned to the desert late last year for “Volumes 11 & 12,” eight songs that feature one of the project’s most impressive lineup of players, including the ZZ Top vocalist and guitarist Billy Gibbons, the Primus leader Les Claypool, the Jack White drummer Carla Azar, the Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa, the Scissor Sisters’ frontman Jake Shears and more. (Matador; October.) — C.W. So looks like we're gonna see something in October according to this? Extreme Metal Releases and Pre-orders
faaip de oiad replied to faaip de oiad's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
https://willowtip.bandcamp.com/album/willowtip-sampler-2018 Willowtip grab bag: Ok, fans of the grab bags we have offered keep asking for us to offer vinyl - well here it is. In this grab bag you are guaranteed to receive at least 3 vinyl 12" LPs with full packaging and 5 loose brand new CDs (these are loose cd's only with no artwork or cases included). Of course you may also get buttons, stickers, who knows what else included as well but nothing more is guaranteed other than 3 vinyl LPs and 5 loose CDs that may come from the distro or Willowtip releases stock. Do not expect to get brand new releases but older releases from the Willowtip catalog or distro items that are overstocked. This is a way for us to clear out some inventory and to get fans some good records at a cheap price. We have approx 50 of these available and the max you can order is ONE to get different titles. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE ALL YOUR VINYL IN PERFECT MINT CONDITION There is nothing wrong with this vinyl but some items have been in stock for many many years and may have normal wear. There could be a nicked corner, there could be a slight split in the cover but that would be very rare. There could be limited edition items that have slight corner or cover damage that we have no replacements for thus can't sell new. The majority of the vinyl should be perfect, but we are not accepting returns for a nicked corner or condition issues for these grab bags. ALL SALES ARE FINAL there are no returns for this item Includes unlimited streaming of Willowtip Sampler 2018 via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.- 3,567 replies

Tool Vinyl BUYING GUIDE (Original/Boots, etc.)

Fuck. FI is creeping up in the ranks again...🧰💉🥴 I'm getting that feeling that I get everytime a new TOOL album is released. That "this my favorite TOOL album", feeling... I know, it'll prolly go away the same way my 10k feeling gradually fell away... I do have a small complaint which I think is a bit irrational, but I feel as though this album is missing one more song. This is an extremely long album I understand, but the music doesn't feel that way. Before I know it, an entire hour and a half is passed by and I'm left feeling like it needs another! Is that off the wall? I have a theory on the structure and sounds (including length) of the album. TOOL is undoubtedly a live band. This album feels like they created an album that will play well in their sets. This was strategically thought out for their live shows, IMO. There's no aggressiveness to this album, they already have that in their shows. Maynard does not need to scream or shout incessantly because he does that for many other songs they have in their lineup. Adam Justin and Danny love to just jam during their shows. This way at least their jamming are actual songs. The composition matches that live feeling IMO. It's almost as if these are tension building songs for their stronger more aggressive songs. -

FI has already topped Opiate and Undertow IMO. FI is fighting for second place. Lateralus being number one for obvious reasons. Second is Ænima. FI is a strong third right now. Very consistent album IMO. Strong from the get go. The riffing and rhythms that Adam and Justin conjured up are fantastic! And Danny is a fuckin polyrhythmic God! 10k is in 4th and Undertow is 5th 😔 and Opiate, like you said deserves to be counted albeit in last place. But I love them all. It's just not fair! I can't stress this enough, but Adam really deserves aoty! This is a guitar first album, then drum. It's filled to the gills with riff after riff. And Danny! Ugh I'm repeating myself... -

If you guys have the equipment/DAC, I recommend downloading the hi res files @24 bit/96khz from HDTracks or Qubuz. It's just under $18 but well worth it! This is a phenomenally mastered album! Absolutely blown away! Maynard is at the top of his game(both lyric-wise and singing). Justin, well there's no touching Justin! He's a monster at the bass! Danny has outdone himself... Again! (Mr octopus) breathing polyrhythmic fire ad infinitum! And Mr Jones. Can't say enough about this guy. Thru adversity, Adam has created a masterpiece. One that we'll be able to talk about for many years to come! This thing is so fucking dense, one listen (or even two or ten) will not be sufficient enough to absorb all that is Fear Inoculum. There's just so many layers! This album may have the most cryptic lyrics yet! And the packaging is just beyond belief! Credit to King buzzo's wife Mackie, Adam, Alex Grey and Joyce Su for the artistic direction they took! There's never been anything like this before. Anyway, enough. Gotta plug myself in again!
