I had this problem at my first apartment in Philly. My girlfriend's sister had them at this old ass building in Asbury Park that got shut down and she infested her mother's place and eventually ours. We were able to get rid of the little fuckers with a combination of this spray, then encasing our mattress in one of these , and using these cups at the bed posts so they can't climb up from the floor. We also used a steamer with that solution in the carpet. It is pet friendly too. We didn't want to go the heat or chemical route because our cats and records. Good luck!

Thanks. I was looking at the exact spray plus some diatomaceous earth. That worked well for a friend of mine. No clue where they came from. My wife started to get tore up bad with welts. One was on her eyelid, which she called "Forest Whitaker eye." She was yelling at me for leaving the door open as she assumed they were from mosquitoes. I tore the bed apart last night and found an adult, plus some exuviae. Seems like a low level infestation, want to try it DIY before shelling out the big bucks.  I have not had any sign of bites, but as my wife says "i must be too bitter."

Oh excellent, thanks for the heads up. I still haven't gotten around to their last album - I read about it before release then couldn't get a hold of it anywhere (physical or digital), and finally it showed up on Bandcamp. But, I haven't gotten to it. New single sounds good.

I made a thread for the Institute album yesterday:

The last album is excellent. One of my recent favs. You should be able to pick up a 2nd press copy somewhere. I saw it in a distro recently, i shall try to remember.. Last i knew it was up in Bandcamp as name your price. Worth whatever you pay.

  4. PO is up for the new Seivehead LP. On my phone so not going to type much, but they rule and the last lp was fantastic. If you dig english post-punk get on this.

  5. Prank records has finally released the Life's Blood Discography. Even though they did not have NY Hardcore Pride, Life's Blood were one of the best NY Hardcore bands. period. Plus, they annoyed Ray Cappo, always an added bonus. This should almost everything they recorded - material that was on the 90's era Vermiform CD, plus a bunch of additional live and demo tracks.  There are LPs, CDs and Tapes - plus, some t-shirt combos.

LIFE'S BLOOD were a legendary short lived band from New York City. Formed in 1987, LIFE'S BLOOD Played 20 shows and recorded 2 radio shows, a Demo at Don Fury and one 7" "Defiance" released on Combined Effort Records and appeared on the seminal "NEW BREED" tape comp in 1988. In these short 14 months as band they left an indelible mark on the history of hardcore punk, as their sharp, earnest, and challenging lyrics backed with remarkably sturdy, dissonant and distorted hardcore songs emerged at a time where the focus of Underground hardcore had been blurred by commercialism, crossover and violence.

HARDCORE A.D. 1988 Collects 27 songs from their Defiance EP, demo tape, compilation tracks, their post humous split EP WITH STICKS AND STONES, WFMU and WNYU recordings and Live tracks with new liner notes from Guittarist Adam Nathanson, extensive band notes compiled by Bassist Neil Burke with extensive photos and flyers. Mastered at George Horn mastering, with packaging designed by Jack Barfield at Neolithic Print Cartel. The LP comes in a Stoughton tip on gatefold with a 11x22" insert and download card. The CD version comes with a 16 page booklet.

  6. We stayed out of West Ashville. My buddy was afraid of the lack of parking and high hipster abundance - says the guy who i went beard oil shopping with... His wife got free tickets to the burly beer festival at the Sierra Nevada brewery. They were like $80; i dont drink $80 of beer in a 3 year period, but there were free and upper management wanted to go. So go we went. There was some decent beers and a sweet grilled cheese food truck. Later on we went to see Mac Sabbath, Metalachi and Okilly Dokilly at the Grey Eagle. Okilly Dokilly were just Okilly, no dokilly, but Metalachi (mariachi metal covers) and Mac Sabbath (snack rock tunes set to sabbath) were good. Just getting a look at Slayer McCheese was worth the price of admission alone.

  7. If you are on the mall the Hirshorn and Freer-Sackler are recommended. The Hirshorn is the one shaped like a urinal cake - it's has modern art, with a small permanent collection and often interesting traveling exhibits. If you are lucky there will be a giant wax sculpture of a fat naked man in the basement. The freer-sackler has a nice asian art collection. One of the best monuments is the FDR Memorial - it's a bit out of the way, but worth the walk.

DC has myriad food choices. Not sure of your home town selection, but there is bound to be something new on offer. There are more ethiopian places here than anywhere this side of addis ababa. Plus, Brazilian, Burmese, Dominican, Cuban..... I do love me some cuban food.

  8. Went to 12 Bones, Static Age and Vortex. I highly recommend the tartan shop. Walk in with a friend, then politely excuse yourself and head back outside leaving said friend inside. Be sure to peak in the window every half hour. We spent a good half hour plus, listening to a lady talk while barely taking a breath about "Freak Town", random rich people she knows, and thin veiled racist comments, all while rush limbaugh played lightly in the background. Plus, the store part is blocked off so you cant really look at anything.

  9. I am in Asheville and would appreciate any recommendations - food, record shops, whatever. I already went to a brewpub place with a connected discgolf course and listened to people go on about their kickball league, so you can cross that off the list. I am visiting my friend who dragging me along to his beard trimming appointment tomorrow. So I have plenty of time to kill downtown. I dont think my buddy wants to go look for timber rattlesnakes, but i am determined to go find me a hellbender after the rain clears.

  10. The PO is up for the new Street Eaters LP.  Their last record Blood::Muscles::Bones was great.

    http://nervousintent.bigcartel.com/product/street-eaters-the-envoy-nir-006-lp-preorder

STREET EATERS are a truewave/punk band from Berkeley+Oakland, CA that has drawn a range of sonic comparisons to bands from Wipers to Masshysteri, Autoclave to Drive Like Jehu, Huggy Bear to KARP, Sonic Youth’s Bad Moon Rising to Warsaw. After years of relentless international touring on the heels of their well-received album "Blood::Muscles::Bones" (released on Nervous Intent in the U.S./Contraszt! in Europe), Megan March and John No returned home to troubled times in their immediate bay area underground punk community/family and the world at large. True to form, the band sought to come to terms with this changed landscape by diving deeply into their own recording studio to create a new record with an expansive new vision. This record, "The Envoy", is a concept album based on famed dystopian, gender revolutionary, anti-authoritarian author Ursula K. Le Guin's influential books "The Dispossessed" and "Left Hand of Darkness".

thanks for this. i'm thinking i'll try the canadian border for now, as i think i can pull off the canadian backpacker look. i'll try to make it to seattle (sanctuary city for now) and take my chances there. maybe even drink some vodka with the local vinyl enthusiasts in the area. it might be harder to find young, hip american woman who wants baby immediately, however i could also join a local church to increase my chances. with a combination of the church's good samaritan attitude and the warming embrace of the local vinyl community, this may be easier than i thought. now i just need to find a way to get into canada. can i just show up at airport with russian passport?

i'd really like to avoid the cartels and bad hombres i've heard so much about.

All great ideas. However, between you, me and the KGB, I would scour the vinyl boards for someone from Estonia (from what i understand has a sizable russian speaking population) who bears a striking resemblance to you. Offer to meet them in a dark alley to trade your deja entendu test press for a bunch of blue jeans. Give 'em the old judo chop systema style and steal their passport (you may need to dye your hair pink or something...). Take a booze cruise from Tallin to Stockholm, Swebus it to Copenhagen, and from there you can either fly to the Canada/US after a refreshing multi-day layover in Reykjavik or fly directly to Greenland and swim to Canada. Once here you can pretend to be a travel agent.

myself. the legal channels are costly and cumbersome with extremely long wait times. on top of that, i don't have many (if any) of the specialized skill sets that the USA seems to want when choosing who gets to enter their country legally.

but life in russia is hell. i want to come to USA now, even illegally if i have to, but would like to minimize risk of getting deported. part of my plan was to arrive (through unsecured southern border, before wall) and have child with american woman. the last thing i want is to get deported from USA after all that hard work of entering country and starting family.

You may just be Putin' us on. But just in case not I shall try to answer as best as I can.

From what i gather from all the reputable news sources, the southern US border is pretty open. You should be able to breeze right in like you own the place, but watch out the sketchy hombres. I am sure some are nice, but you know those hombres, always up to mischief. If you are worried that it might not be so easy i would do some research from home.  Born in East LA should show you everything you need to know about getting in the US. I would also watch Moscow on the Hudson to see how you might adjust to life once in the US. Although it's the highest achievement of American cinema, you may want to stay away from Red Dawn (the original, not the crappy remake) - it could be distressing. Now don't discount the  Canadian border. You may already be able to see Alaska from your house. From there its a quick southerly stroll to the American border (see ELF for details), plus all the maple syrup you can fit in your pants. Of all your plans the easiest task will be to impregnate a willing  American woman [There's no border patrol on those southern borders]. Once you politely explain your situation I am sure you'll be golden. There is an unmarried Trump daughter after all.  You may find someone back in Russia who could Putin a good word.
