In your same argument, stop being the opinion police. Am I not allowed to have my opinion that selling that record for $600 is a dick move from a band member?
Sorry officer.

STOP TRYING TO BE THE VINYL POLICE. Jesus fucking Christ, what a stupid argument. Dude should give it away because he was in the band? What a clueless remark. You have no idea what his financial situation is. He has every right to sell that record for whatever the fuck he wants. Do you get this up in arms when record label people sell old test presses and stuff on eBay too? What about when Kris Roe sold his Ataris gold record on eBay? Was that okay, because it's not a playable record?

A consumers only purpose is not to keep a business afloat. Also, a company needs to earn your business, they arent entitled to it. If I buy a Ford and have nothing but issues with it and the dealership dicks me around, I am not going to buy another Ford. If I preorder a record and the label takes forever to put it out, misses repeated deadlines without informing me as to why it is late, and puts out a sub par product, they arent getting my money again. It isnt my job to make sure they dont fail, they should stop overextending themselves to the point that they are going to fail if they dont scam people out of money.
Look at Suburban Home/Vinyl Collective. Virgil had a small label going for close to fifteen years, then when vinyl started getting huge again, he started overextending himself, licensing expensive stuff, overstaffing his company, missing deadlines, moving to more expensive rent place, etc etc. Soon enough, he started to bleed money and would do anything to stay afloat. Not my issue that he made bad business choices while chasing more money and he deserved to fail because of how he ended up screwing bands and customers out of money.

If you cant afford to press it, dont press it. It is a slap in the face of the consumer when you take their money months in advance, dont tell them anything when it gets delayed/you havent finished the layout/havent approved the inserts/etc etc, not to mention not putting it out at all and just keeping the money.
As a consumer, it is not my job to keep your business afloat, that is your job, and one of the risks of being a small label is that you may lose money on some releases.

2014 then will be the year of n00bs bitching and moaning (more so than usual) on why their precious vinylz are taking to long to receive.

Hey so I bought the record like the first week it was out at my local newbury comics and the vinyl came on translucent orange which I have looked up and it seems was only available at their record release shows but for whatever reason I have it. Was the red out of 3000 actually like this or has something very weird happened? I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this happen because I'm just trying to figure out what I have! hahaha

Fantastic Planet was very readily available for quite a while.

I thought this was pretty silly TBH. I totally see where Ken is coming from but there's not really a need to demonize ORG here. They did what they had to do to attain the rights and materials needed to press an album that had never been available on vinyl before. I feel like any anger should be directed towards Rhino/Warner. I would really be surprised if the omissions on the vinyl were ORG's decision since they normally do great work.
Ken was probably just upset he didn't get a check from this. If he cared so much they could have gotten Comfort (which ORG also did) and Magnified pressed and made Fantastic Planet more available than the limited release that's now impossible for fans to get for under $100.
But oh well.. here's to a widely available, officially-sanctioned vinyl boxset sometime in the next year (hopefully).

Will Yip produced records from Pity Sex, Daylight, Citizen, Koji, Balance and Composure, and Polar Bear Club (to name a few) - yes all those records sound the same good job good effort.

kurt reacted to parkinglot in OUT NOW: La Dispute - Rooms of the House
Why is every band in the scene using Will Yip? You can deny it all you want but most the records he produced this year have very similar sounds, from bands who didn't sound similar "pre-Yip".
I don't like la dispute at all but I'll probably end up giving this a listen. Who knows, maybe it won't be annoying and wordy as hell.

It's awesome that they have they're own label now. Will Yip producing it though.... iffy on that.

I don't know or care how much he charges... But It seems you may have missed where he said "he does top notch work" -
kurt reacted to runforcover in OUT NOW: La Dispute - Rooms of the House
Hmmm. How many records has he done where you're aware of how much they cost?
I would go as far as saying not one band that he's recorded an LP for this year went with him because of how low he charged them.

Wow, I can't believe the overall pretentiousness and douchebaggery I've seen here.
I don't have any info for OP, I just hope the trolls in this thread are at home fapping to their superior knowledge of English within the realm of vinyl collecting.

Now how exactly do you know there isn't 1 billion copies? You said yourself you didn't know how many were pressed!
-
kurt reacted to NoFxpunkguy in Blink-182 Cheshire Cat 1st Pressing
My info is a lot more useful than saying "1 billion". It at least lets the op know only 1 pressing has the red eye variant.

Ignore the fools / trolls with no useful info. Seems like a bunch of them but you can find polite members with plenty of knowledge ready to be shared
