  1. In addition, Mastodon will help celebrate Record Store Day, April 16th, by releasing two limited-edition vinyl pressings. First will be the version of MASTODON: LIVE AT THE ARAGON, pressed onto 180 gram audiophile weight vinyl and will also contain the DVD of the live show, plus "Crack the Skye: The Movie". Secondly, an exclusive split 7" vinyl single of the ZZ Top classic, "Just Got Paid," with Mastodon's version on one side backed with the original ZZ Top version on the flip, housed in a clear plastic slipcase. Mastodon's version of the track originally appeared on the album, Covered, A Revolution In Sound, commemorating 50 years of Warner Bros. Records. 2. Just talked with a friend who was out in Arizona for the Association of Independent Music Stores conference, where they talked about some of the releases. Right now, about 300 releases are targeted for RSD (which is in line with last year). Things he could remember: REM 7" Soundgarden 7" Built to Spill 7" Flaming Lips Box is limited to 5000 copies Blitzen Trapper 7" Lots of cool stuff from both Sub Pop and Matador One thing he said to look out for was a Daft Punk 12" featuring 2 songs from the Tron soundtrack and 2 unreleased tracks. Supposed to be really nice packaging, vinyl will be glow in the dark and look like the tron disc (similar to the 12" released for the video game apparently). Limited to around 450/500 copies though, so it will go fast. We'll see what else gets announced, but sounds like we have a shitload of releases to wade through again.

  6. Actually, Best Buy was the national retailer for the Ten Super Deluxe Box (versus Target, etc.---this does not include indie record stores). One weekend, they had it advertised less than the $150 price it was for sell for on PJ's website, so you could actually get it cheaper. Not sure if Best Buy will be the national retailer again for this set, but if they offer it for less than $150, I'll be happy.
  7. "The First Supper” b/w “Boner X-Ray” (Original Version) 7” which was limited to 500 copies. 200 were included in the first 200 pre-orders on Hydra Head’s online store and the remaining 300 were sent out to record stores for Black Friday through the folks that do Record Store Day. 8. I had pre-ordered 2 copies of this on the first day it was announced through ORG's mailing list and was only sent 1 from Insound. When I told them what had happened, they told me that they had already gone through their allocation and I could get a credit or refund. Yeah, that's great and all, but how does a store like Insound not have an inventory system that can count how many records are sold? Are they using MS Access over there? I mean really. There are mom and pop stores with more advanced systems than what Insound is apparently using. You can't start at 500 copies and deduct the number of purchases. The fact that they are out, and the website lists the item now as "backordered" means that they oversold the record and took more than 500 orders. What a clusterfuck. I hope they aren't the "exclusive" retailer for the next Sonic Youth ORG release, Bad Moon Rising. Just had to vent. Hope this hasn't happened to you from ordering through Insound.
  9. From the QOTSA facebook page, annouced an hour ago: The QOTSA S/T debut album will now be released by Domino Records on 3/1 in the US and 3/7 in the UK. So now it is March, but at least it is coming out.
  10. There are 2 versions of this release. The standard and Deluxe. The standard was on 140g vinyl in standard sleeves, etc. Cost was approximately $40. The Deluxe version was on 180g heavyweight vinyl and was called the "Deluxe Art Edition". It retailed for about $100 and featured: • 4 180-gram High Performance Vinyl LPs • Plating and Pressing at R.T.I. • Packaged in a Shiny Metallic box • Includes two 16-page books for Jupiter and Mars • Discs are housed in individual sleeves, printed on special paper Elusive Disc still has the deluxe version in stock. I have that version and have had no problems and nothing was warped. So you may want to look for that version. You can tell the difference between the 2, based on the UPC/Label Code: The standard edition is: WEALP44391 The deluxe edition is: WEALP49996 Hope that helps.
  11. From the Pearl Jam website: Happy PJ20 Ten Club! 01.05.11 2011 will be a yearlong celebration of Pearl Jam’s twenty-year history. The anniversary festivities kick off in a few weeks with the release of Live on Ten Legs. A hint of what more to expect in the months ahead: - A spring reissue of Vs. and Vitalogy in new, deluxe formats; - The release of Cameron Crowe’s film, Pearl Jam Twenty, along with an accompanying book and soundtrack album; - A 20th anniversary destination weekend bash sometime in late summer; - Plus a number of special events and new, unexpected releases! Stay tuned here for the latest news. Should be interesting.
  12. That made me laugh.....hah. Yep, I love the 90's, can't help it. Would really love the Lost Highway soundtrack done again, since it was only available originally through Simply Vinyl and they made limited quanitites to begin with. Bowie, Lou Reed, NIN, Smashing Pumpkins (only appearance of "eye" on vinyl), etc.
  13. * Smashing Pumpkins Gish in a 180g Remastered Audiophile Version * Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie & Infinite Sadness--originally released as UK 3LP numbered edition, would like a new version of this * Lost Highway Soundtrack, featuring NIN, SP, etc. * Singles Soundtrack--Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc. * Crow Soundtrack * NIN--The Fragile 3LP * U2 Achtung Baby * Pearl Jam--Vs. or Vitalogy (with them celebrating 2011 with a 20th anniversary festival, we may see a lot of stuff from them, who knows) * Temple of the Dog--S/T LP * DMB--Under the Table and Dreaming * probably some others.
  14. Black Vinyl version out January 11th and the link to pre-order through Amazon is here: http://www.amazon.com/Entreat-Plus-Cure/dp/B004BTS8FU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1292274423&sr=8-1
  15. This set is *not* available to be shipped to North America (if you add it to your cart and select US, it tells you it can't be shipped). So fans who want this in Canada, Mexico, US, etc. are out of luck and will have to get the 2LP regular BLACK VINYL version. Guessing this has to do with record label ownership and music rights, so there you go. But I'd really like to have about 3 of these.
  16. Went on sale at midnight CST/1:00am EST and was sold out by 7:00am EST. Majority of people who got it are overseas (UK, Australia, etc.) Few in the US got it, due to the announcement at about 10pm that it was going on sale in 2 hours. No e-mail was sent to Vault members, etc. Just the post on the modlife page.
  17. Link is up: http://www.sonymusicdigital.com/editors/details/5705033 $114.86 US + shipping....not horrible.
  18. From the Editors website: "We’ve been picking through the archive recently, looking back at our 3 records, many many b-sides and some material that has never seen the light of day. It’s been addictive. We can’t leave it alone, much like picking a scab, and we’ve decided to package it all together and share it with our fans, officially. We’ve raided the vaults, searched through old CD-Rs, cassettes and photo albums and gathered it all together. We’d like you to have this music on any and every format we can produce and also share some photos and memories of the last 6 years in a volume that you can keep forever. So that’s what we’ve done; coming in Feb 2011 is Editors, the complete collection. Unedited, if you like. Seven 12” heavy weight vinyl, seven CD’s, a download of everything in high quality 320kbps mp3 format and a book of photos and words. It’s gonna be sexy. Hope you’re all keeping well, Tom xxx - The boxset will be made available to pre-order from editorsofficial.com early on the 2nd December. - The First 200 pre orders will receive a special personalised surprise from Tom"
  19. Pearl Jam annouced yesterday that their new live album, Live on Ten Legs is available for pre-order in the US through the Ten Club ($18.00 for the 2LP if I recall). 20. I agree, but I am sure there are some items that fans will want to get. I am just surprised they'd do one close the holidays when people are usually strapped for cash doing Xmas shopping for family. I can see the quote now: "Sorry Timmy, you would have gotten that new Tron cycle for Christmas, but daddy needed a limited edition Gaslight Anthem 7", Soundgarden 7", and Metallica 10". Maybe Santa will make it up to you next year." 21. In other news, slicing up eyeballs reports that U2 will release a new limited-edition, vinyl-only live EP next month called Wide Awake in Europe on November 26th. The 12″ will feature live versions of No Line on the Horizon’s “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight” and “Moment of Surrender”, as well as “Mercy”, a track which was recorded during the How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb sessions. The band has been playing it live since September. The release will be limited to just 5,000 individually numbered copies and will be released through independent record shops in the U.S. as a Record Store Day-like promotion on the “Black Friday”. Wide Awake in Europe Tracklist: SIDE A 01. “Mercy” (Live) [Recorded in Brussels, 9/21/10] SIDE B 01. “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight” (Live) [Recorded in Dublin, 7/27/09] 02. “Moment of Surrender” (Live) [Recorded in Paris, 9/18/10] According to online retailer The Ideal Copy, the limited-edition EP is a “special release put together by the people who do Record Store Day.
