You can use any old tape. Just put tape over the tabs and record away.

I keep lists on both deadformat and discogs. I like the one page list of deadformat, and there are a lot of releases I have that are not on discogs. If I am looking for pressing info, I go to discogs every time. Also, keeping a wantlist on discogs and getting the daily emails is great!

If you have a lot of tapes, I find this to be way better than trying to put them all on a shelf. I need to buy like 3 more of them for the rest of my tapes. I just wanted to check out one first to make sure I liked it. Highly recommended!

I picked up a Helmer from Ikea yesterday. Best thing I've found yet for cassette storage! Fits 46 tapes per drawer. Doesn't take up much space either. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40107872/#/60296126

Ordered a color copy of each LP shortly after they went up! Really glad that I passed on buying the recent euro bootlegs of these.

What's your system/deck?
kurtz replied to bluescreenlife's topic in Cassette Collective Message Board
I have had several random thrift store cassette decks over the years, but am currently using a Tascam 102. There was a very noticeable difference when I upgraded from my early 90's JVC deck to this one. This thing plays tapes more clearly than any other deck I have owned. not my picture... -
I agree on the great food... but the city that you live in is better record shopping than Baltimore. (especially if you lump in the relatively short drive to Allentown)

It may be old news to those of you who are more entrenched in the genre... but my most listened to "melodic punk" album of 2015 came out in 2014. The Raging Nathans - Losing It LP https://radgirlfriendrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-raging-nathans-losing-it

Favorite Band(s) you haven't seen live?
kurtz replied to dapeebs's topic in Everything Else Message Board
I listen to their live albums much more often than their studio albums because they play all the songs twice as fast! -

The Ramones Millencolin I'm sure there's more, but those are the first two that come to mind. -
First album I remember buying myself was Weird Al - The TV Album on cassette. Don't really remember past that. First vinyl record was the Mxpx / McRackins 7" in the late 90's.

Holiday Sales Thread (2015)
kurtz replied to distinctlydustin's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Damn... I was wondering where all the Black Friday online sales threads were hiding... I normally do not get involved in threads that start out with "RSD", so I didn't realize that all the normal distro sales where here. -
Yeah, the number of current Star Wars books is business as usual with comics. And business as usual when it comes to Star Wars anything. Hell, there are 3 different versions of the Star Wars mac and cheese boxes!

The reissue you have all been waiting for! Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass Whipped Cream And Other Delights http://www.musicdirect.com/p-362304-herb-alpert-whipped-cream-and-other-delights-180g-vinyl-lp.aspx Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass Whipped Cream And Other Delights on 180g LP Remastered from the Original Master Tapes in Celebration of the Album's 50th Anniversary!Herb Alpert has over five decades of unprecedented breakthroughs as an artist, record executive and philanthropist. 50 years ago, Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass released the iconic album, Whipped Cream & Other Delights. In celebration of its momentous anniversary, this classic of American pop music is once again available on vinyl, remastered from the original master tapes and sounding better than ever on 180-gram LP. Reissue packaging also includes the artwork from the original 1965 release. Whipped Cream & Other Delights was the best-selling album by Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass, spending 8 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Charts and an incredible 41 weeks in the Top 40. It features the #1 single "A Taste Of Honey," which won three Grammy Awards and the title track, which became famous as the theme song for The Dating Game. Not to mention the eye-catching cover, which defined the era as much as the music on Whipped Cream did. A 2006 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Herb Alpert's albums have sold over 72 million copies, he's won nine Grammys and received the 2012 National Medal of Arts from President Obama. Alpert also co-founded A&M Records in 1962 and headed the label for thirty years. In that time he mentored generations of pop icons, from The Carpenters and Cat Stevens to Sting and Janet Jackson. http://www.musicdirect.com/p-362304-herb-alpert-whipped-cream-and-other-delights-180g-vinyl-lp.aspx http://www.musicdirect.com/p-362304-herb-alpert-whipped-cream-and-other-delights-180g-vinyl-lp.aspx http://www.musicdirect.com/p-362304-herb-alpert-whipped-cream-and-other-delights-180g-vinyl-lp.aspx

There have been a lot of $20-$30+ new vinyl releases this year that I passed on and instead opted for a $8-$12 cd version. In the early days of this board I wasn't even considering cds because the vinyl was reasonably priced.

One of my first trades on this board was with ronniethebear. I didn't get burned, but did wait several months for him to send my records.
