  1. I was a DJ at my college for a couple of years. I'm pretty sure we had something set up with CMJ where we had to play at least two songs from a list of albums every hour, and then we could keep getting new music from them. We were encouraged to bring in our own CDs and upload them to the computer to boost the station's library. If we wanted to bring in our computer or mp3 player, that worked too.
  2. Just in case anyone here's after Andrew Jackson Jihad vinyl. I think I'll stay with the ones I already have. Also there's some news on the collection of OOP and b-sides album. From the Asian Man newsletter: "A new pressing of Andrew Jackson Jihad "People Who Eat People" and "Can't Maintain" are now available on the asian man site. Can't Maintain is on OPAQUE WHITE and is limited to 400 copies and People Who Eat People is on CLEAR GOLD and is lmited to 300 copies We have received the actual vinyl for the new ANDREW JACKSON "Candy Cigarettes, Capguns, Issue Problems! and Such", but still no art. Jeff Rosenstock is doing the art, so please feel free to send him a message saying "When will you be finished with AJJ art"? He'll appreciate it. I think this is a first where we got the vinyl before the art, so yay for us."
  3. Does the deluxe set have a shirt? It's not listed in the contents, but it is included in the parentheses... Just wanted to double check.
  4. I don't have any set lists, but I have a broken drumstick from Neil Hennessy from the Lawrence Arms around somewhere. That's about as close as I can get.
  5. I got 12/15...but mostly because I read this thread before taking it. Probably would have got 2 or 3 more wrong had I not. I like how this changed into a conversation about straight edge/ drinking though. I don't mind when people drink around me, unless they're really drunk. But I hate going to shows where people insist upon bringing their overflowing beverage into the crowd and spilling it on everyone...that's not cool.
  6. That doesn't sound like too bad of a business plan for now.
  7. ^Nice Derek Deal prints! I've been thinking of getting one of his prints. Did you see the rhino and piranhas painting from Career Suicide on eBay? Too rich for my blood, but I was definitely tempted... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290476112627#ht_500wt_1154
  8. I love 10" records and these songs! I will wait and see if SRC gets them, I need to order a few other things from them anyways.
  9. adorable! this is joey. he just turned 12 on thursday: this is a picture from when he first came home. He was around 8-10 weeks old and i was 6: Cute. So he must have hair that can change from brown to black and vice/versa too? I know Casey had completely different colorings when we got her.
  10. Is there going to be a full length lp with the songs from the first 10 or so in the series? I remember seeing something to that effect a while ago... or was I imagining that?
  11. I've just started really getting into the one CD I have by The Mr. T Experience, Revenge is Sweet, and So Are You. I've got Love Is Dead on the "not listened to yet" pile. I love Groovie Ghoulies! They are definitely underrated. I'm bummed I only got to see them live once, but at least I got that much. Kepi's solo stuff is good, but I'd rather listen to a Groovie Ghoulies' album most of the time.
  12. pics? my dog is half german shepard/half beagle and no one believes me that such a mix exists! Really? Sweet! I'd love to see pics of yours too!
  13. Real name: Tyler Favorite Bands: I could rattle my brain and come up with a list, but it's easier to just put my last.fm here: http://www.last.fm/user/garrygumguru What's your Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr etc.?: I'm pretty anti-social, so I don't have much need for social networking sites. Hobbies (outside of record collecting): I love watching movies from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. I'm super bummed that I don't get Turner Classic Movies on my TV anymore, but I get a few more things done now...and I don't stay up until odd hours or get up super early to catch a movie anymore which is nice. Play in a band? Run a record label? Link us!: I do not. But a fun fact, my user name comes from middle school/ early high school when I wanted to start a ska band and name it: Garry Gum Guru and Billy the Frog. Not kidding. I just kinda stuck with it for screen names throughout the years. I also had an idea for characters/ logos that would include a wizard blowing a giant bubble (Garry Gum Guru) and then just a normal sized frog (Billy). I love gimmicky things. Side note: I'm super excited for the Ska Is Dead 7" series. Random things you want us to know about you: I'm straight edge. I have a sweet dog that's most likely a German Shepard/ Dachshund mix, and her name is Casey. All of my pet's names have started with "C". And...great faces, great places South Dakota.
  14. Yeah, this happens to me fairly quickly. I have this odd habit of listening to each release at least 10 times. That way when I get it into rotation, it's like an old acquaintance... if that makes sense. I like that feeling of familiarity when I listen to music. Stuff that I haven't listened to in a few years I can put on and still remember a lot of it.
  15. I can relate to a lot of what has been said in this thread. It is so hard to pay attention to some things. I'm glad I'm not the only person that has to reread things. Even if I'm reading a book for enjoyment, my mind will go off on a tangent and I'll realize that I didn't get any of the last page or two and have to go back. Thankfully, I'm covered under my mom's insurance because I'm still a full time student. While I don't take meds for ADD, I do take some for mild depression. It helps out a bit, but could use some fine tuning. Of course it would be better if I was on a regular sleeping schedule so I could take my meds when I'm supposed to. Some days I'll be up around 7:30, others around 11:30. And I'm starting to ramble...so, the end.
  16. This is such a great release. I still don't have a place to put the print that I got with mine, but when I do it'll look sweet.
  17. It's usually up on adultswim.com the day it airs. I know sometimes I missed it because I was working, but I could catch it online when I got home.
  18. This is so weird. I saw it on the news tonight, and it really looks like there's a kid in the street...until you get closer and it gets all elongated... I agree that this could cause more accidents in its attempt to prevent accidents.
  19. Bundle is up now at Asian Man. "2 copies of vinyl (one on clear green and one on clear gold), you will receive a digi pak CD copy of the record, a smoking popes t-shirt(will be on a black shirt, but the design is undecided as of yet), and a button. Both the green and gold are limited to 150 each. After we sell the 80 packages, the rest goes to the band and then we will only be pressing black vinyl in the future."
  20. I had an issue with a VC order. A couple of weeks after I placed the order I got shipping info. After waiting for a month I e-mailed with no reply. A few weeks later I e-mailed again with no reply. About a month after I e-mailed again and got a reply two weeks later. Then my order showed up like 4 days later. All in all, I got like 3 extra lps, 3 extra 7"s, 3 extra shirts, and like 30 more CDs than I thought I would get. So...I would say it was worth waiting for.
  21. Got these today! Wasn't thrilled when I heard what the colors were, but they don't look that bad. Banner Pilot has two streaks on the a-side, and is pretty much spotless on the b-side. No insert in the MFATGG like people have been saying. And Fat doesn't put mp3 download coupons in with their releases, so that's not really surprising. It would be nice if they started doing this in the future though, but I'm not holding my breath.
