I ordered on 11/19 as a Christmas gift for my brother (supposed to ship the week after Christmas). I'm so frustrated with how this was handled, makes me look pretty stupid.

I've tried so hard to get into The World Is A Beautiful Place... but I just can't. Everyone said they were amazing live, so I thought maybe seeing them open for IIOI would change my mind. It didn't, they are a terrible band. As noted above, the spoken word stuff was embarrassing, the songs just meander and never really go anywhere for me. There are moments of brilliance, but they are never fully realized. I just don't get why everyone loses their shit over this band.

Having a bank ledger line titled with "Jennifer Miles" is probably really unfortunate for married men with nosy/insecure wives.

Hell, even getting bands permission or blessings to press their stuff comes secondary it seems.

I think it comes from the fact that this board, once upon a time was drastically more geared toward punk and independent releases. Over the last several years it became not much more than a place to pick up rehashed major label licenced stuff. Stuff that's incredibly easy to sell. Everyone has a "label" and feels like it's just a lot easier to licence something that was popular at one time and put it out under a different label name.  One stop shop type labels.  Doesn't look like new bands or punk rock or anything get's represented at all here anymore.
No hate, just an observation, I used to post on here in the first few years until all the Virgil shennanigans started happening, and it ended up being nothing but Hot Topic represses and (no offense) but "nostalgic" pop music.  Complete 180 from what the board once was. Probably a lot of OG people still here, that would actually buy new music, and stuff that isn't a sure bet sell. Labels like this are risk free. Step 1. take cd.
Step 2. send cd to get put onto a record and packaged at the plant in one stop shop style
Step 3. Post it on VC at inflated pricing
    Profit.
No advertising needed, no need to provide tour support, no need to do band statements, send off for reviews, or getting media coverage etc.  I don't think most people consider stuff like ETR as a label, more as a format changing machine. Turn cds into records. Same with SRC. Take cds, put em on a different format=profit.

Most of the hate probably comes from people that have labels that are ran by people with an appreciation for music, as opposed to easy money and less work.

Their first explosion was in 2002 when MTV2 started getting behind the band and playing "Jude Law And A Semester Abroad." The band were also tied to Atticus at the time, too, and pretty nuch anything associated with Atticus in the early 2000s sold like gangbusters. I booked Brand New in November 2001, on their first tour after YFW came out, and 7 people showed up. I next saw them in December 2002 in more or less the same market supporting the Movielife, and the show was completely sold out (500 cap room) and virtually everyone left as soon as Brand New played. This is one of the wildest sets I've ever experienced to this day, btw:

Around this time they started getting a lot of attention from print publications in addition to all the online buzz they were earning. They toured the fuck out of that first record and got some pretty great support slots, then they made a pretty phenomenal record in Deja and MTV2 and Fuse really got behind the singles, so they continued to blow up.

Then, taking two years off (2004-2006) only made people crazier, and their outright refusal to do any part of the traditional major label game with Devil And God only made them bigger (no music video, no interviews, etc.). They created their own myth due to not wanting to do anything besides just play music, and a whole lot of people came along for the ride thinking Jesse Lacey was some sort of demigod who could do no wrong. (If only they knew how big of a scumbag dude really is.)

Then Daisy came out, and it wasn't very good, but they had already gotten to the point where they could play massive rooms, so the ball kept rolling until people realized their live shows were kind of lacking and the crowds were just becoming more and more awful to deal with. I once described seeing Brand New as going to watch a horror movie: It involves a certain level of suspension of disbelief, but once that is shattered—either by someone in the theater yelling, "DON'T GO IN THERE!" or a bunch of idiot bros yelling, "PLAY SEVENTY TIMES SEVENNNNNNNN!" it's impossible to enjoy anymore.

They've managed to maintain their current level of popularity by doing fuck-all, similar to how the Lawrence Arms did nothing for like 5 years and became fucking massive.

9 years ago, when I moved I sold my whole collection, bought a pickup truck, and packed up all my belongings. It was painful. But, I had to sell items to better my situation at the time. It wasn't about flipping for me, it was about doing what I had to do, profit or not. I've purchased items before and down the line sold them for a profit, not for the intention to flip, but to earn money to buy something that came up that I liked more. If people pay it, then why not? Then again, when people buy a dozen of the same product, and sell I can see why some people get upset. My opinion is I really don't care. I will never own everything, I enjoy hunting, and if I get it, great. If not, I will live.

Also, SomethingVinyl was extremely fair with me on a recent trade. In fact, more than reasonable. I wish I had joined this wonderful community sooner in fact, but with teaching, life, a child, it didn't happen. Cool place though, think I will stay for a bit.

That's not what I meant. Typically I can get 1-3 records shipped to me between $10-$15 (No Idea's calculator says around $13 for 2 2xLPs). Some packages I've received have had shipping a bit lower than that posted to it, some have had up to the $20 you were asking. I'm not trying to get someone to take a loss for me, I'm just hopeful that someone is able to find a cheaper option than you found.
If I can get the two records including shipping to me somewhere in the $30-$35 range, I'd be all over it. Your asking price was just a bit too much for me, but would have been a totally fair price for someone in the States.

You did, but shipping put it too far out of my price range (which isn't your fault, it's the postal service). Hoping that someone out there will have a cheaper quote for me. I do still appreciate it though!

If they were smart they would stop taking orders, work to get caught up on the back log and then open back up at full capacity with a more streamlined system where 2-3 month delays dont happen

Guys, the ONLY album that RSD 2014 needs is this.

Capitalize on Nostalgia! Plus, it's a shockingly good album when you get past All Star being the sugar-coated pop single that it is.

Does anyone own a U-Turn Orbit table?  http://uturnaudio.com/

I need a new table and don't have any desire to spend more than $200 so U-Turn looks like an interesting option.  Are they any good?  What is the difference (besides price) between the Basic and the Plus models?

    Thanks for the help.
