  1. The BBB angle was discussed in the old TOYPAJ thread and I seem to remember it being concluded that they were basically a next to useless organization that has no real power to do anything about bad business practices.
  2. Right. Thanks for posting that. So in essence, it would either be $16 of my money going toward an inferior product from a "shady" label who rips off their customers or $24 of my money going toward a superior product from a "shady" company who doesn't engage in the high moral practice of asking bands whether it's OK to (re-)press their stuff. I'll take the latter (errrr, I would if I could). And once again for the record, I'm not saying SRC's business practices are commendable. I'm just saying that in this situation I'd much rather have their product, and as a customer I should have the right to cancel an unfulfilled order and make the choice I want to make with my money.
  3. Just talked to Capital One because I had to dispute a charge from Soul Temple Records (the Mightier Than Sword of hip-hop) for a Ghostface record I never got, and I threw this scenario at the lady just to see if I could've gotten my money back if I had used my credit card via PayPal rather than using my funds. She said the only way 6131/No Sleep would have the right to deny cancelling an unfulfilled order is if they included a "no cancellation" policy in the original order terms. Of course there was no such thing, so I would encourage those of you who used your credit card or bank account to dispute the charge if you don't want to pay for it. "This aggression will not stand, man." And FWIW, I really don't care about the gatefold; it's the 7" and the sound quality that I know SRC will deliver on. I can't vouch for any of their other releases, but the Hum, Quicksand, Staring Back, and Park records I have bought from them are flawless in terms of quality, from the sound to the packaging. I wish 6131 would address what their sourcing/mastering details are instead of the twitter circus that's apparently going on. And why the fuck didn't they and/or the band think to put those bonus tracks on a 7"? Fuckin' amateurs.
  4. This whole thing is fucked. If only I had used my credit card instead of PayPal funds, I could get out of this horse shit. While overall I can understand them being pissed at SRC, 6131 should be thankful that SRC didn't put this up within the 45-day window from 6131's preorder date. The "fuck you" tone of the communication from 6131 on this is downright shameful. Dude must be a fucking baby. Given that and what happened with the 2011 subscription of theirs, I really hope as many people get refunds through their credit card or bank as possible and that this buries 6131 for good. #GFY6131. If anyone would be willing to buy my gray/400 at cost from me ($20 shipped), I'll eat the cost to ship it to you. Unless somebody can show me proof that the band is getting paid by 6131, I'd much rather have the (almost undoubtedly) superior product from SRC (and I can't justify owning both when there are already 10 records I've had to deny myself this year because I've been living off savings for the past year while an unemployed full-time student). Otherwise, what does the band supposedly endorsing 6131's pressing even mean? Why should 6131 have any more right to press it than SRC?
  5. I can't afford both, so the 7" combined with SRC's outstanding quality on their releases led to me to request a cancellation on my 6131/No Sleep order. I feel bad for those guys ad I truly wish I could justify having both. Maybe if more people bought some stuff from my sale thread (wink wink, nudge nudge), I could afford it.
  6. No problem, dude, and thanks so much for the advice on international shipping. Accordingly, the Apathy record will soon be en route to the Netherlands and is no longer available.
  7. Somehow I ended up with an unscathed B9 copy of the Spooky Action 7". It's really too bad that it took so long to get them and then so many people ended up with fucked up copies. My condolences. That's a great 7", and I can't wait to hear something new from them.
  8. Envy is gone. Prices have been dropped on almost everything. Please make me some offers. It's hard to believe nobody wants those Such Gold records. Given that Misadventures was my favorite album of last year, I can't fathom people not being interested in them anymore, but then again I'm old and out of touch with the kids.
  9. I appreciate the info and level of detail from Jeff. I think my skepticism is warranted based on how loose the parameters for "exclusives" have been in the past for compilations, but if I came off as a needledick then I apologize. But in my experience, a comp with completely all new songs is a true rarity these days. So now that I'm squared away on proper info, I have to face that low cash flow is what will keep me from getting a copy of this, because the lineup is indeed pretty sweet. Plus I love the sentiment of what Mr. Yip is trying to do here.
  10. Until I know that this isn't a bunch of half-assed acoustic and demo versions of songs that already exist or of songs on forthcoming albums, I'm staying away from this. "Exclusive" doesn't mean "completely new and original".
  11. Had to bump this because I saw them this past Saturday in Flint and thought they really killed it. I was able to pick up the third to last copy of the beer/red vinyl that they had with them. I took video of four of the songs from their set. Check it. First is "Up To Speed". "Attention"
  12. I've been digging these guys since I saw their demo posted on a blog a couple years ago, and I think they're getting better and better with every release. I've had an unmastered tour CD-R version of this new EP since I saw them at a house show in Lansing in January. It's very enjoyable for a thirtysomething in the midwest who actually found 90's emo in the 90's (imagine that). I don't have the funds to pre-order this but I hope to pick one up down the road. Here are the videos I shot of their set in January. They are definitely WAY better live. Frankly, they blew me away that night. (apparently it only does embeds for 2 videos per post) And finally, I have an extra copy of their Into Endings 7" if anybody wants it. $11 ppd. PM me.
  13. I'm definitely a Pneuma guy, but there were 3 songs I thoroughly enjoyed on Waves and 5 more that were pretty good. If this sounds nothing like Waves, then it has to be some completely different sound for them from anything previous. Bands almost never go back to the sound of earlier material, especially when it's so loved and revered that they have a huge chance of disappointing people because it can't possibly measure up to what the earlier stuff has become in time to the fans. That said, Greg Dunn seems to have somewhat of a Midas touch (e.g., Athletics) so I hold out hope that it will be close to Pneuma's awesomeness. I must admit, however, that the cover art somehow makes me think the album inside it should sound like 30 Seconds To Mars and I have no idea why.
  14. Hi everybody. Thanks for looking. An unexpectedly long bout of unemployment and a recent spate of steep vet bills for my cats have necessitated expanding the list of stuff I’m willing to part with. I have linked my Discogs inventory for a convenient way for people to see desired prices and conditions. I'm generally sticking to a "US customers only" policy, but as I say in the shipping terms on my Discogs account, I am willing to try to work something out with international board members who are strongly backed as good people who won't try to scam me. Be advised I take video of the condition as well as the packaging process for all my orders. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me here or on Discogs. Please note you do not necessarily have to buy these through Discogs. I am fine with using PM's and PayPal if you're cool with that and have positive feedback. I'd just as soon pay as few fees as possible anyway. I'm well aware that some of these prices are high, and that's why I'm allowing offers on most of them. Also, please keep in mind that by the time Discogs and PayPal take their cuts, I lose about 10% of the price. Anyway, here's the list. I'll do my best to update it daily as things are sold. Please do not PM me about what my asking price is. Click the Discogs link below to see my asking prices. Due to the cut that Discogs takes, offers made via PM here will almost certainly be accepted if they are roughly within 5% to 8% of the asking price on Discogs. http://www.discogs.com/seller/rjbajema# Apathy – Honkey Kong (2xLP, 1st press, black) Basement - I Wish I Could Stay Here (2nd press, black/500) Bridge And Tunnel – Live At Fest 9 (7” that came with Rebuilding Year – not listed on Discogs - $10) Constants - The Foundation, The Ascension, The Machine (3xLP, brown/clear/gray/100) CSTVT (Castevet) - CSTVT (7", gray/100) Crosses (+++) – “Option” b/w “Telepathy” RSD 2012 7” Daggermouth – Stallone (LP, 1st press, “forest” green/200) Daggermouth – Turf Wars (LP, 1st press, black/200) Damu The Fudgemunk – Supply For Demand (LP, black) Empire! 15. It's odd how I never check the Everything Else board, and then the one time I do, I find a thread/request that I might be a great fit for. Check out my hip-hop musings here. http://necessarymeansforanecessarymeans.blogspot.com/2013/01/my-favorite-music-of-2012-another-year.html?m=1 My friends tell me I need to do more writing about music, but I haven't found my own personal volition to do it more than once a year yet. As you'll see there, I'm staunchly opinionated when it comes to what I consider hip-hop and what I consider trash rap, so I might not be as well rounded as what you're looking for. If you're looking for someone else to get in line to suck Kendrick Lamar's dick, I'm not your man, but if you're looking for someone who champions the classic sound and would love to lay verbal waste to bullshit like Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, then maybe we should talk.
