Minus The Bear Vinyl help.
xjustinxschwierx replied to minusthebeartpc's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Seeing the word "vinyl" is the literary equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. Please just refer to them as LPs or records. Sorry...that drives me insane. -
i love the ska song on the Tuesday demo.

Aaron said i should post this: ok...so possible disaster turns into something even better than before. so I find out about 8 hours before the show tonight, that my friend John's mom, who bought the tickets and reserved them for us while on the phone not 4 days ago, gave away my(and two other friends') tickets for the Springsteen show...some misunderstanding...they're going to a aunt/uncle/cousin...so John's 3 friends totally shafted. it sucks we were going to be in one of the swanky skybox seats or whatever they're called...catered, free drinks...etc...(I don't drink, but whatever...) so I'm bummed, but he's playing tomorrow so I start looking online to see what I can find and I'm waiting hours to hear back from John to see if he wants these $70 general admission tickets that you can only buy two at a time...so eventually that option disappears and I'm pissed because how expensive is this going to get? So I'm looking on this one site and I find another general admission ticket i can buy for $39 by itself! so I bought it(it's $66 after taxes and fees...but now only $1 over face value...hahahaha!)! I'm going to see the Boss from the floor...which I will fight my way to the front. This is gonna rule.

Yeah seriously, i wasn't a fan of this band and i used to see them all the time because they'd always play with bands i liked. I'd watch them and be like well...Chuck is fucking intense and the rest of the band was just up there. Jason showing off and posing half the time...great. you can play your instrument. i get it. Chris was always drunk and George was always...well he's a drummer and didn't see him too much or didn't pay attention enough. I really like 'a Flight and a Crash' because it sounds like a lost Pegboy album....i have several HWM records..i didn't dislike them i just never "got it". Seeing the Draft is just kind of sad because the only thing I ever found worthwhile watching HWM isn't there...and the songs bore me too...but that's beside the point. Chuck's solo stuff is a little repetetive, but there's a certain amount of charm that goes with what he does and I think it works for him. He's such a intense guy once he starts singing that I just get locked in and can't look away.

Albums that play inside out
xjustinxschwierx replied to chunkrock's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I have a Mushuganas split 7" with the Volatiles where each side has 2 sets of grooves. the 2 separate grooves play different songs...one song is an original and i think both bands do GG Allin covers. The Just A Fire 7" on Asian Man is one song split onto 2 sides and the end of side a is a locked groove so it'll loop the last part until you switch the side where it picks up right there...kinda cool. these are just random things that are possible but no one utilizes them too much, that's all. -

i like Chuck Solo more than HWM. the Draft kinda suck too...excpet Todd, he's pretty awesome....but the Draft is boring at their worst and "eh" at their best. I know I'm alone on this...but yeah....just my opinion.

yeah..seriously, this band was never good. -
why buy 2 copies of the same record?
xjustinxschwierx replied to andrews's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
i don't so this...the only doubles of records i have, i bought on accident...forgetting i had them already. and there's like 2 I bought to give to people who'd want them if they needed, then i'd just have an extra. That's how i ended up with multiples of the x JUD JUD x records i have and that just sort of turned into a personal inside joke....that's the only reason i started buying multiples of their stuff was because i decided if I was going to collect one bands shit, then it'd be the most ridiculous band ever. I don't like the idea of punk rock records being defined as collectibles. ...i try not to play into that too much with the label releases. but it happens from time to time. -

Help me! Record storage ideas
xjustinxschwierx replied to jhulud's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
there's a place called the Container Store that is probably a national chain....but surely has a website...they have these stackable linkable metal 12.5" square open boxes that are for records so you can essentially build them to whatever configuration you'd need. look into that...little bit better looking than boxes and crates on the floor -
Uk record store reccomendations
xjustinxschwierx replied to mynameistom's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
i believe there is a reckless records store in london. -
Douglas Ward maximummac.com Not a "name-brand mastering guy" but cheaper and does a fucking great job. Doug was in Fourth Rotor, V.Reverse. Bill Henderson www.myspace.com/azimuthmastering Bill was in Thursday and is in Between the Wars, the Procedure and x ONE WAY x. great guy, super fast turnaround and a quality job. then from there i can recommend Bob Weston from Shellac, but he'll be expensive...or more so than the others. www.chicagomasteringservice.com

What Bands Sell Vinyl at Concerts?
xjustinxschwierx replied to corbet's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
used to be almost everybody. i'm willing to guess that the bigger then band the less likely...and Thrice is at that level...usually the stadium/giganto room rock bands don't want to haul all that weight around.
