Royal Mail for 3 pounds to the USA is £17.20 or $24.44, again I'm not saying I like it I just think it's an accurate reflection of the cost they are paying.

Even then, let's say you add on $1 for the price of a mailer and packing per order, it's still about $10 less than what they are charging.

I totally get how overseas shipping can sometimes be crazy expensive, especially being in Canada where it sometimes costs an arm and leg to send something overseas. But something doesn't add with this scenario, especially given the above example, and also the fact that they aren't using the extra $$$ to ship this express or with any tracking, since it's taking a while to get to North America.

To me there's a difference between being eccentric and treating your dedicated fans

like garbage. At the same meet and greet I described earlier there was a guy that flew across the country for this little half-hour acoustic show at Zuzus, brought his Billy Corgan signature Reverend guitar to have autographed, but all he got was "sorry I don't sign guitars." He'd literally given Billy thousands of dollars already, but it was too much for Billy to write his name in return. It just says something about his character.

    What a prick  :o

Care to explain what the differences are, specifically?  Did they play The Sad Mafioso back in the day?  Because that shook the building and left the entire audience exasperated, a few years back – especially with the visual components and climax.  I really don't see how it'd pale to anything.

It's hard to pinpoint one reason why I think it was more powerful back in the day. Probably a few things combined together. They played material solely from the first three releases only, which IMHO, are their crown achievements. Hearing all of F#A# was immense, especially the Dead Flag Blues outro, which is beautiful live. Also, having a cellist back in the day added another layer to the sound, especially for playing the older material. Also, this doesn't take away from the recent shows, but you have to remember that back then, post-rock was still pretty fresh,  so seeing this stuff blasted live was something fairly new to me (and others), which added to the resonance at the time.  Not really trying to take away from their recent performances, which are still very, very good.

  4. I remember seeing these guys live in '99, and 2000 and it was absolutely incredible, especially the 2000 show. Arguably top 3 show of all time for me. I'm glad to see them really active these days,  releasing new music and touring, but the reunion shows that I've seen, while really good, don't really compare to the sheer power of their stuff back in the day.

Top notch release.  The only thing I'm disappointed with is the version of "lift" that's on here is so lifeless compared to the pinkpop live version. Its obviously just a demo but yeah regardless this is a must own release .

I don't know, to me it basically sounds like the same version/arrangement as the Pinkpop version, but done in the studio. I like it, but I can definitely see why they left it off the album/b-sides.

hey what are the chances of a special anniversary edition vinyl for In Rainbow's 10th anniversary this year? im guessing not likely since it took 20 years for OK Computer to get these cool editions but you never know. what do yall think?

As much as I love this band, I really wouldn't want to see another In Rainbows box set, they pretty much nailed it the first time around, and included the b-sides bonus material. No need to rehash it again in a different package. I could see them repressing a few more copies of the original box set though, that I could live with.

Weird that they decided to put out the box set RIGHT before they released a new album that they could have included.

I remember reading an interview where he said that the older albums highlighted a specific era for Gas, and that's why he released a boxset of them. This new album, being 17 years after the last one, is the beginning of a new chapter so to speak, at least to the man himself.

So now that the 24th has come and gone... does anyone have any idea why that Gas box is readily available – as in, good to ship, today – from outlets like Boomkat, but still features zero release date or projected dates on Amazon?  Kind of frustrating.

I vaguely remember from the first press that Amazon got their copies much later than some of the Euro/UK stores like Boomkat. I'm not sure why exactly... but it also seemed to me that Amazon didn't get that many copies for whatever reason.

I have seen radiohead a half dozen times since '97.. they're great.  I have seen TooL a have dozen times since '97, they're great.  I have seen Sigur Ros a half dozen times since around then, they're great... the last time I saw Sigur ros, this most recent stop in Vancouver as a three piece, was THE BEST concert i have ever been to, hands down.

I'd put radiohead and Tool as my two favourite bands, with sigur ros somewhere in the top 5 or 10.

I saw SR a few times pre-Takk when they were a 4-piece, and they were great. But, I can't really imagine them as a live act as a 3-piece. I could be wrong, but doesn't it sound kinda bare and thin without all the keys/organ/synth stuff that Kjartan used to add? I feel like he was such an integral part of that band.
