For anyone unfamiliar with Tycho – say, salty VCreepers who prefer anthemic radio buttrock – this probably isn't going to be for you.  Just wanted to give a fair warning.  It'll be heavily instrumental and leaning on the chill side of the spectrum, for sure.  Perfect for driving around in sunny weather and not hating your life so much that you need to seethe in the shadows of message boards.

I still think Awake is the best thing they've released; 2016's Epoch has some incredible moments but doesn't feel quite as consistent with its staying power.  I'm really enjoying the direction of this first single, though.  At this point in the game, Tycho can afford to push their horizons a bit... and that's what I'm hoping for with LP5.

To anyone still reading this thread today, for reasons beyond me; do you imagine Baroness will go down a completely different path after they conclude the color series?  There’s still plenty of colors they could theme a record off, or name an album after... it seems pretty deliberate that they’re opting to make G&G their last.  I suspect they’re not done making music though.

I don’t think you really get to question anyone’s originality when “likewise, my friend” is the only rebuttal you’re bringing to a VC tire fire.  After years of being a shit tier troll I would hope you’d maybe start to figure that out.
 
I think you need to chill out and kick back with some Foo and a cold one.

They’re an embarassing fanbase.  I love the band but their hugeness and cult status has bred some psychos.   I’ve collected their show posters for twenty years and i constantly have to leave their message board for months at a time because i can't handle these people and their meltdowns. 
 
Go to a Vedder show.  In between songs it’s nothing but 40 yr old men and women screaming about the Cubs or whatever Eddie likes.   They also like to read into the most trivial things and freak out that the band is over.    Again, i love that band but i only have one friend from that entire hardcore fanbase.

I’ve thought about this post a fair bit and I still don’t really get it.  What’s wrong with this thread again?  Differing opinions sparking discussion?  (Discussion is not the same as debate, in case anyone is unclear.)  I feel like too many people still haven’t figured out the ebb and flow to threads at VC.  Or they rely on them to pertain strictly to pre-order information and nothing else.  To me, that’s boring as hell.  To those individuals I would suggest Reddit as something a bit more streamlined and pertinent.

AKA, the “Please don’t pretend you know how to identify a gourmet burger from fast food until you’ve become a reputable chef, thanks” argument.

I’m just trying to connect some dots on a correlation here, and determine if a debate is even worth it.  Because there’s absolutely no point in either of us discussing the value or embarrassment of “radio rock” if you’re the type of mouth-breather who says “uh well Papa Roach get plenty of playtime today so clearly they’re doing something right.  Popular music = good music!”
 
If you truly didn’t give a damn about naysayers, you wouldn’t need to advise them to “go away”... you do know that, right?  Like Zero, I plunked down $40 on this thing against what is probably better judgement – I have a horse in this race.  I get to have an opinion on the singles released.  And I get to write that opinion out even if it’s not positively gushing.  This shit’s not rocket science.  Instructing negative opinions to cease just snuffs out potential discussion and funnels the thread into one giant circle-jerk.  Knock it off.
 
Much like you “don’t care” what naysayers may be posting, I don’t care that “thousands of other people have bought this” and may adore the singles so far.  In fact, I hope they do.  I am cool with seeing the band do well – I have nothing against them.  If the album isn’t my cup of tea despite being loved by everyone else and reviewed favorably, I’ll have no problem selling my copy at cost and moving on with my life.  My involvement in this thread would likely cease after I’ve said my peace, and that’s that.
 
In the mean time I have just as much of a right to post an opinion in this thread as you, Disturbed enthusiasts, and anyone else interested in hearing new Baroness tunes... for better or worse.  Sorry / not sorry.

Don’t give a damn  about the naysayers… I’m excited for this record and if anyone is surprised about the direction that Baroness has taken - that’s their own fault. The band has continuously moved away from their earlier sound and are now into more of a progressive territory. If you don’t like it, go away.  Thousands of other people have bought this one and it will likely keep selling, keep getting press and ultimately be a good addition to their catalog. There are still 15 songs to hear and I’m looking forward to each one.

Also, I can't seem to grasp that a single's technical riff  ≠ complex or interesting songwriting ('Birthing' for example).  The production is kinda' balls, but at least the new female guitarist shreds.  Bring on the hate.
