PO: Paramore - Paramore (Self-Titled)
tape replied to gmoney's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
AWKIF is a really good album, an excellent debut album, and really a pretty incredible debut album for a band of what were essentially children at the time (Hayley was 16, Josh was 17, and Zac had just barely turned 15 on the release date). But is it a better album, as a whole, than either Riot or BNE? No. Are there some individual songs that might be better than some individual songs on the other albums? Sure. But Riot is more mature, more powerful, and showcases better songwriting and arrangement than AWKIF, and the same can be said of BNE. I love AWKIF, but I think it's silly to say that it's a better complete album than either of the albums that followed. [edit: ready to feel old? Zac Farro was born in the 90s. the FUCKING 90s. ] -
The Postal Service - Give Up, 3 Different Presses?
tape replied to ivoryplum's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Basically, anyone I knew at the time who was into Death Cab (which is a lot of people) was into the Postal Service record. It's good pop music, with just enough of an electronic edge to appeal to bleepheads. I was literally the only person I knew who came at it from the other direction: I mean I liked Death Cab well enough, but I had been listening to that Dntel record almost nonstop for about 6 months, so I heard about the Postal Service record and my reaction was "holy shit, a whole album of The Dream of Evan and Chan!" -

I just can't make myself pull the trigger on $55 for the box. (especially after I just dropped $40 on the Singles Box which has 4 one-song 7"s, and I really only did that because I really like all of those songs and damn the records are gorgeous.) $22.43 on Amazon right now for the plain old regular vinyl. That's not bad. -

Best/Worst Customer Service from a Distro/Label?
tape replied to silentgods's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I just went through a giant fucking hassle with Fueled By Ramen myself. It took me literally 3 weeks to even contact anyone there. No one ever answers their phone number (and I tried 3x/day or more for 3 weeks), I sent at least 12 emails and none were responded to. Real nice customer service, you assfucks. I finally got someone ("Dan") to respond by including every FBR Twitter handle I could find on a tweet about my situation, and even then it took 4 tweets to get a response - and once I did, I still had to badger Dan at every step to make the process go forward. It's funny, I've ordered 3-4 times from them. The others all went by without incident, but this one time I had a problem, they could not have possibly been more frustratingly unresponsive or useless. I'm going to echo the recent statement that Polyvinyl is really great. Polyvinyl is really great. -
at least it was kind of feasible with the original CD version. you could wrangle up enough of your friends that had boomboxes to get it done. the only reasonable way I could see this getting listened to on vinyl is if you're a DJ with two decks, you have a DJ friend with two decks, and one of you brings your rig to the other. also, I hadn't thought of this until just now, but flipping the records and synchronizing a second start halfway through. sheesh.

I've tried every link to everything. this is what I get when I go to any (ANY) product's page on SRC: I've tried three browsers, clearing cookies, everything. it's simply not working at all on this computer, and I have no idea why. like I said, I can get to it on my iPhone so I'm just gonna do the order from that.

I'm getting both. I don't really do the variant collecting thing on the regular (I think there's maybe two other bands for which I've intentionally bought multiple colorways of a record), but I'd do it for Hum, and especially when it concerns the album that is the single most important album of my life. I'm not shelling out for that stupid subscription though - I'm not getting extorted into buying an album I don't want at an inflated price (still don't understand how they're charging MORE for the subscriptions) just to get one more color. If it were Hum, Quicksand and a third band I actually gave a shit about, I'd actually consider it, but I honestly could give a fuck about Silverchair.

Victory Records New Years Discount Codes

Don't bother, that record sounds like someone shit on a lathe. Probably the worst-sounding record I've ever heard.
