With the exception of maybe the Bossk record, you sound like the worst type of customer there could be. You emailed over split inner sleeves?! Honestly, that CoL/JC collar was packaged great from IndieMerch...

I am aware of how to get the goods and services back you moron. Gifted payments that aren't taken out of a credit card or bank can't be disputed smart ass. Mine was taken from my PayPal balance. So how's that get disputed? Hmmm right that's what I though.

Yeah this board was fun back then. People weren't as dickish, and there was at least some sort of semblance of unity as far as music went. I thought it was bad in Virgils later days, never thought I'd see so many bad movie soundtracks, and Drive Thru represses.
Anyway, this is my quarterly post.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Seriously, if someone pressed those albums, half the people on this board would pay 25/30 bucks for em. Especially if they were Pirates Press wacky splatters/hazes and neato gatefolds.

Don't feel bad at all OP. There has been so much worse that people get boners over on here.

I think their goal is to ultimately make it super difficult for indies to continue to be a part of the distribution chain. The specs for both the Global Release day Fridays (starting July) and for "vinyl Tuesday" are a pain in the ass, and call for a totally different way of mandatory branding and changes that are incredibly difficult to understand and implement. Seem to be more of a partnership to help move more major label releases, and to help squeeze more independents (that don't have the staff, expertise, and the ability to completely change something out of the blue) Indies never got a heads up about this. All finding out the same time everyone else is.

It's definitely another roadblock to push indies out of the picture.

Also RSD in 2016 you'll see next to no independent releases. RSD has stopped approving most independent releases. And 2016 is anticipated to be almost completely major and major affiliated releases. In hindsight I kind of wonder if this was the goal from the beginning.

I hope that fans of independent music and smaller labels will cease to support both "vinyl Fridays" and RSD in general. It's doubtful as I don't think most consumers care. But I think this is starting to spell out the beginning of the end for indie distributors and labels to be able to get their releases in stores. Independents are going to have to find unconventional ways to distribute product, and doesn't look they'll have much of a chance to be in bigger stores any longer. The specs for vinyl Tuesday are ridiculous. they want to dictate every single aspect going so far as to dictate the proper fonts, color schemes, reporting systems, marketing.  They seem to be on a mission to destroy both indie retail and indie labels.  Mail order direct I think will soon be one of the few ways to actually actually support indies, as they are trying hard to make it as difficult as possible to continue traditional distribution.  Fuck all of this. Majors saw something happening with increased vinyl sales for independents and were quick to hijack it and take it over.  I'd almost guarantee we'll all see prices skyrocket also, to the point where indies won't be able to offer the lower price points, and will be forced eventually to raise pricing to the 25+dollar releases.
Whole thing sucks ass. The end is near!

I liked it better when I was the only record collector. This shit is stupid and really panders to the lowest common denominator in collecting. Im sure the first releases will be colored vinyl releases of Billy Joel's 52nd Street and Fleetwood Mac's Rumors. I can't wait.

A lot of people put forth a ton of effort, sweat, debt, borrowed, begged and have done anything possible to put out releases the feel a kinship to. This guy has no heart, no work ethic, very little ethics at all. And there is no way anyone can feel a passion for effing Good Charlotte, Korn, Starting line, and whatever weird mainstream genreless crap is released. He's in it for the money, and on an independent level, that's a very bad place to be. He's been a jerk since before he put out his first release.  His response when I asked him why he doesn't just put his own stuff was "I tried that once and lost money". What?!  Money grubbing vulture that probably makes 80% of his profit from this board alone.  I don't know the guy, but based on what he post's here, and the releases he puts out, going behind bands backs, and the complete lack of anything even remotely resembling ethics of any kind whatsoever, I don't like him. At all. And as always, VC is either blind, or chooses to be blind because things come out on cool wacky colors, and it's dollar bin stuff you liked in high school or middle school. Seriously, these Korn albums you can find in the dollar bins at any record store on cd. Putting a cd on a 12" plastic slab does nothing except make it more inconvenient.

I don't know him personally no. But  his business practices and the way he comes across on a message board make him seem undesirable.  I'm not ripping anyone ass, especially no one on this board, I don't know hardly any of the people on here.  This place is super bizarre.  like 40 pages of people calling this dude out, I make a post, and people jump on the defensive. And yes, people that listen to that type of music are mainstream trend hoppers that collect pieces of plastic that look cool.  What happened to this place when SRC took it over, did they bring all their fans with em?

RSD is getting ridiculous as are the needless major label (and even some indie) re-issues.  Our label for example has to start pressing a full year before the release date since our distributor needs the release over 2 months in advance of the release date, and to anticipate for delays. 4 months is not bad nowadays, if the slightest thing happens (labels don't arrive at the exact right time, or plating get's backed up,or any number of minor things) it can delay it by several more months. For independent labels this sucks. Having tens of thousands of dollars sitting at plants and printing places for almost a year before even thinking about seeing a return on it is rough, the majors of course can afford that. And it really is true that indies is what singlehandedly paid these people's salaries during the 90's and 00's. Indies never stopped pressing vinyl. Vinyl has always been an important part of independent culture. Now that major labels and people like ETR records have stepped in with old dollar bin cds to put on vinyl a lot of plants stopped really caring about indie releases. Rainbo is currently at 6 months on re-orders. That's insane.  I've got records at three separate plants hoping that maybe 1 or 2 of em can meet our deadline.  It's also hard to set a release date until you have the vinyl in your hand ,it's a nightmare to postpone release dates, and usually cost's the label money as distributors will charge you if you delay a release, in turn in makes it hard to promote an album properly when your not really sure when it will be arriving and thus not sure when you can promote a release date. Ideally you'd press about 18 months in advance, hope to get your releases in 6-8 months, and then start promoting after you can safely set a release date.    I'm starting to blabber, but it really is a huge clusterfuck. It sucks hardcore, moreso for new releases that either end up getting delayed or new material that get's passed on because re-presses of crappy 90's soundtracks and Sum 41 type re-issues sell better.  It's not fun, and has turned something that once was an awesome and fun thing to be a part of (as far as being a part of releasing records) into a stressful and constant panic attack.

Would it be redundant to point out that I called this dude out before he put out his first release? Whatever happened to this place having some sort of resemblance of a punk rock culture? Or at least some sort of resemblance of integrity.  Sad that people are still going to support this dude. Dude's gotta be making a killing flipping his own releases. I wonder if all the major labels he licences this crap from are cool with him flipping his releases like that?  He almost can be considered a flipper even without the ebay evidence, people charging 25 bucks for single LP's is ridiculous. This VC culture is why labels feel totally fine pricing their records at rip off prices. If people are still gonna buy em regardless, why not price em at double what they're worth.
This place is a lot different than it was 6-7+ years ago. Dude would have been tarred and feathered at one time. But he puts out Cartel, Korn and Good Charlotte releases... can't expect too much integrity from someone that re-issues crap releases from other labels. This has got to be the easiest "label" in the world to run. Licence release, send wav files to Pirates Press, sell for 25 bucks a pop, flip the lowest pressed variants on ebay. Even with the licencing fees, I can imagine he makes his money back after 50-100 copies counting the ebay flips.

You're speaking very matter-of-factly for someone who "hasn't really posted in a few years" and also putting words in my mouth like I straight up defended ETR. The only thing I questioned was this vinyl-bro mentality you ran up in here with. This isn't exclusive to you and tends to happen in all 'these types' of threads. It's almost like anyone with a Fugazi record in their collection feels it's necessary to point out, at nauseum, that they don't like these labels or the people who buy these records. Got it. If this community and boards are as bad as certain people insist they are then why do even come here? Just to get pissed off? It makes no damn sense.
More importantly I'm not trying to argue with you, but this discussion wasn't started so we can all read about how much people don't like Good Charlotte(sp) and Korn. I for one am more concerned about Ross being able to fix this shit because as mentioned above he's only human and people fuck up. He did some shady things, but seeing people come out of the woodwork just to kick him when he's down is pretty crappy too.
