  1. Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared, and Spaced, they only got one season each though. Veronica Mars, season 1 was great, but I never bothered to finish season 2. I'll agree w/ Flight of the Concords, season 2 was a snoozefest. Heroes season 1 was amazing, that show actually got me into TV again I think. I disagree w/ Eastbound & Down and Arrested Development. Season 2 of E&D was solid, not great, but def. worth watching. And all of AD is amazing, all of it.
  2. What about that grenade that they made a big deal about?
  3. haha well, i figure since the source material has been out beginning in 2003, there are no such thing as spoilers! Jeff might sign back up to call you on your shit! Be-careful!
  4. Working, getting a haircut on my break, going home and laying down in front of the TV (Boardwalk Empire, Bored to Death, Eastbound) and then hopefully reading some Walking Dead comics.
  5. I'd like that Cee-Lo record, but I'm not leaving the house on Black Friday.
  6. You can either see Foursquare as useful or as useless -- just like Twitter, or anything else in life really. Foursquare isn't for everyone, I'll be the first to admit that. Here are some reasons that I like... Say I'm in a new city and I want to eat something or go somewhere, but I don't know where anything is. I can pull up Foursquare and see places nearby. I can see where my friends are or what they're doing. You can leave tips at places and you can also see tips left by others. So, if I'm at so and so restaurant and someone says "try the panini it's amazing!" I might try the panini. It's a good way to keep track of where you've been. I have a pretty bad memory, haha. There are deals on Foursquare too. Not a lot, but some places will offer a free beer for your 3rd checkin, maybe a 20% discount for the mayor, etc...
  7. This is going to be a repost from my blog, but not everyone on here reads my blog, so I figured I'd post it still. Plus we all love deals at VC! http://kirbypuckett.tumblr.com/post/1488395072/facebook-places-deals-the-gap It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of location based social networking — specifically, Foursquare. When Facebook announced that they would be stepping into the court with Places I reacted with a “meh.” Foursquare is enough to keep me busy and I don’t really want Facebook knowing everywhere that I’ve been (they know enough as is). However, that “meh” went to a very loud “AWESOME!” this week as Facebook announced Deals. You can read all about Deals and see a few of the deals here: http://www.facebook.com/blog.php?post=446183422130 The one that really caught my eye was the free jeans offer from the Gap. Today (Friday, November 5th) Facebook and the Gap teamed up to give away free jeans to the first 10,000 people to check into the Gap via Facebook Place today. I just returned from the Gap where I picked up my free denim and it couldn’t have been easier. I took an early lunch break and got there as the store opened. I expected there to be a large line, but there were only 5 other people there with me. I pulled out my phone, loaded up Facebook and checked in, a beige box was shown on the check-in screen requesting a touch to unlock the coupon. I pressed the box and there it was — free jeans! The manager opened the gate and informed us that a lady would be at the front of the store, show her your screen and she’ll hand you a physical coupon. Everything went quite smoothly except for one guy - he was an older gentlemen, probably in his 50s. He cut a lady off who was pushing her baby in a stroller and shoved me aside to shove his HTC Evo in the face of the lady handing out the coupons. He then started screaming… “I DON’T HAVE A COUPON ON MY SCREEN! YOU’RE STILL GIVING ME MY JEANS! I WANT MY JEANS! I WAS HEAR FIRST! I’VE BEEN HERE FOR 45 MINUTES! THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ANDROID PHONES AND THE APP! YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY! I WANT MY JEANS!!!” This was all before the poor lady could even get a word out of her mouth. I started laughing at the guy and said “Really?” in a demeaning manner. Another woman came over and handed him a coupon w/ no question and he stormed off to the jean rack. I was handed my coupon next and followed the surly man to the jeans. As I arrived he started yelling at the wall of jeans… “I HATE THESE PROMOTIONS! THEY NEVER WORK RIGHT! THEY’RE ALWAYS TRYING TO SCREW PEOPLE OVER.” I responded with “Maybe you should just relax, this is the first time for us and the employees” He scoffed at me and took his jeans to the register. Some people… Maybe it’s because I was raised well or because I worked in retail, but I could NEVER imagine going off on someone like that for no reason — especially over a pair of jeans. It was a pretty amusing scenario to look back on and laugh at, but I did feel bad for the lady initially as no one deserves a person screaming in their face at 10am. I wonder if this promotion came about in order to get rid of some of the bad publicity the Gap received over that new logo fiasco? Back to the initial point… Facebook’s Deals program is off to a GREAT start! I picked up a free pair of $60 jeans and all I had to do was press a few buttons on my cellphone! I will still primarily use Foursquare, but when there are great deals available I will check-in with Places. From the link above, here is the most unique Deal so far: University of California at Berkeley: Letting football fans who check in form the human tunnel through which the players run.
  8. I read the first issue of the comic. Pretty much identical to parts of the show. I didn't have enough time to read more yet though.
  9. Poor Staal. I hope he is healthy and in full swing for the playoffs though.
  10. I'd really like to see... Wavves Arcade Fire Best Coast Free Energy (hopefully seeing them this month though) Hot Chip
  11. Your face is going to get stuck that way!
  12. You're best bet is to go for the hardcover volumes which has 12 issues in each there are currently 6 hardcovers, the trade paperbacks are cheaper(amazon has these for around $11), but only have 6 issues per paperback, there are currently 13 of those so you get way more in the hardcover plus they look cool (amazon has them for around $23). And if you're feeling really intense you could go for the compendium vol.1 which is huge it has 48 issues in it, but not terrible expensive, about $35 from amazon, considering how many issues you get in it. I'll more than likely buy them for my iPad via the Walking Dead app. It's $2 an issue, which is fair. Reading comics via Comixology's apps are great!
  13. I'm a Fleury guy, but Brent Johnson has to start for the Penguins right now while he's hot.
  14. Should I read the comics or just wait to be surprised by the show? My girlfriend asked me to track down a few because she wants to read them, so they'll be available to me. I'm leaning towards yes. I enjoyed the pilot a lot. If you didn't watch it in HD you really missed out. It's filmed on 16mm and it looks fantastic. The way the show "looks" was almost as good as the show itself. This will probably be the last zombie thing I can get into. Zombies are becoming over-saturated in our media these days. Also, I just realized the main dude was in Love Actually, now I'm not sure if I can take him serious anymore, haha jk.
  15. That Native American Museum is amazing, probably the best looking museum in DC. I bet the rally was incredible if you were there, but it was pretty boring on TV. I almost fell asleep during it and decided to play Rock Band instead.
  16. The Pens announced their new Winter Classic Jerseys today. They suck! http://twitpic.com/31muqu
  17. The difference between a social network and social media is purpose. A social network is simply for exchange of information and inter-connectivity. Social media is when actual artifacts are procuced from this network that are of benefit to the group itself; like a wikispace that cultivates new ideas and ways of thought from collaborative discussion; like a mesh network. Think "OURspace" instead of "MYspace". Oh ok, I thought you meant something like that. I like both. I don't think I could live w/ out Wikipedia these days and I'm an avid Foursquare user. I know a lot of people don't like or don't get Foursquare, but I find it very useful and fun. I'm usually the first of my friends to sign up for any social networking website. I was recently let down by Digg's changes, but I've now moved on to Reddit which I find superior anyways -- win win.
  18. Poor Gonch. Love the dude, but glad he's not in black and gold anymore.
