  1. Went to Atlanta (again) today with a few friends, picked up: School of Seven Bells - Face to Face on High Places 12" Toro Y Moi - Underneath the Pine Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty 2xLP Airbird - City vs. Mountain 12" (/500) Quilt - S/T (/750) a free poster of the album artwork for Tyler, The Creator's new album "Wolf". (Included in the picture above is my MerchNow order from a few days ago. The Cinematic Sunrise sleeve is completely intact!) Also, I just ordered La Dispute - Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair on brown/brown from No Sleep's webstore. Lucky find in my book; that was always my favorite variant from the pictures I had seen.
  2. It's amazing how many copies of both of these La Dispute albums No Sleep has been able to move in the past few years. Like, with Wildlife, they did a massive first pressing (5000), then a second pressing (1800) and now a third pressing. And With Somewhere..., there are well over 4000 copies pressed and they're probably planning on making more. Honestly, it's really cool. Also, it appears as though I picked up the last of the brown/brown copies they had listed on their webstore. Thanks for the heads-up, Blanchard Oswald!
  3. From all the stuff I've heard about pic discs on this forum, I feel like surface noise should be sort of expected. It might just be that your copy is particularly bad about it. I'm not near my turntable (I've been home on Spring Break this week), but when I go back to school, I'll give my copy a spin and see how bad it is. Aside from the limited edition of Bloc Party's album last year (which I haven't spun yet), this is my only pic disc, so I don't really know exactly what to expect.
  4. Magic Touch / Sapphire Slows - Just Wanna Feel EP It was released last year on 100% Silk (one of my favorite small electronic labels), but it sounds like good old-fashioned house music straight out of the early 1990's club scene. Great stuff.
  5. I flew solo for (my very first) RSD last year. It was sort of lonely, but I met a few guys in the line out front of Wuxtry, and being a party of one made fighting my way through the crowds much easier. As for my RSD list, so far it's four items long, ballpark estimate of about $55 or so. Not too shabby, considering that's usually about how much I spend going record shopping anyways.
  6. The best thing you could do at this point is stop trying to justify your purchase to people who clearly won't validate your justification. If you want it, buy it (though a turntable would be way better to spend that money on). If you buy it, expect most of us to tell you that you just dropped $200 on a three-EP set that's probably not worth much more than $50 or $60. It's not our money you're losing.
  7. It probably would have been better to make this thread had this record still been in stock. Now, it's just sort of like "Hey guys, here's a record that exists! But you can't actually buy it where I found it." (It's still a really good soundtrack, though)
  8. I can see this thread going downhill very quickly. Here are some threads you can look through to get a better idea of what you want, considering all you really said is "I'm getting a turntable." Also, the search function is indeed your best friend sometimes! http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/75376-official-help-me-choose-a-turntable-v20-thread/ http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/84534-new-to-the-turntable-game-needing-good-advice-for-my-first-setup/?hl=turntable Enjoy.
  9. I... I can't tell whether or not you're joking. I'm stumped.
  10. I loved Red, Yellow and Blue. It was my go-to album to fall asleep to for a while. Never really got into Say It, but these new singles intrigue me. I think I'm gonna wait it out and see if I can't get it at my local shop in a few weeks.
  11. I don't know the exact track listing (I'm not near my records right now), but I do remember that it's five tracks that didn't make it onto Whatever People Say I Am on the A-side, then five demo versions/live cuts on the B-side. Also, this might sound stupid, but I'm thinking it might be a promo of said bootleg, seeing as how it's completely different from most other copies, which look like this:
  12. Who the hell actually uses this thing?

  13. I actually like it a lot. I mean, it isn't a "Weeknd" album cover (a.k.a. a mixtape duplicate), but I really dig simple, minimal artwork like that. Plus, as all good hipsters know, you can't go wrong with black and white.
  14. (posted most of the female fronted bands) Back on topic. Hows about some really gay rap? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-msvAkwi68E
  15. I actually just want the thing they came in. I really want to take the "box" out of someone's "box set".
  16. Omg you guise I heard of this cool band called Creed and their edgy but like not too bad sounding, their a Christian band but they rock pretty hard !! *le toll facee*
  17. Recently, I started getting into really cheesy-sounding, stereotypical late 80's, early 90's sounding stuff. Not the actual stuff from then, but modern music that sounds like it's from that period. One of my personal favorites is Napolian.
  18. I play The Sims to build houses. I rarely ever play the actual game.
  19. My boxset came in last week, and one side of the box had come completely off. Fortunately, it's still one piece, and it's nothing a little wood glue can't fix, so I'm not upset about it at all. Besides, the records sound great, and that's what I bought it for! (The tote bag/photo book/box are still up for grabs, by the way.)
  20. So, a few months ago I found this LP at my local record store: I bought it for $14, thinking it was pretty sparse for an Arctic Monkeys release. I did a bit of digging online, and the only things I could figure out were: 1) it's a bootleg, and 2) almost every other copy of this exact bootleg are on white vinyl and came in a PVC sleeve. Does anyone know anything else about it? I'm really curious. There isn't even a Discogs entry on it.
  21. Great song, okay video. I love how awkwardly out of place Lucas is in basically every OF thing he's in.
  22. I've been extraordinarily active on VC this evening. I wonder why.
  23. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WALT-DISNEYS-THE-ARISTOCATS-EXTENDED-PLAY-SEALED-VINYL-/120764718024 Also, I didn't really enjoy the Tarzan soundtrack all that much. I'm not that big of a Phil Collins fan.
