CT012 Reproacher "Nature's Bastard" 12" It snows in Wyoming in May. While the rest of the country enjoys the birth of spring and the start of warmer weather Wyoming sits under the gloom of cold and snow. It makes perfect sense that Reproacher creates gloom and despair with "Nature's Bastard", their newest full length. The darkness breed angular noise and ferocious d-beat hardcore mixed with hoarse screams of annihilation. From the first proper track "Celestial Blackout" the band shreds through with their d-beat meets noise rock brand of musical annihilation. "Poisonous Miasmas" continues this style while "Garrote" starts with distorted bass and almost industrial drum patterns before the band brings it back to their trademark downbeat dissonant nihilistic rage. The title track "Nature's Bastard" definitely opens the band up to something different yet still wholly their own. My band, Spirits ( http://www.spiritsxxx.bandcamp.com ) released our debut LP back in May and I've been meaning to post a collection of pics showing off the packaging we designed to go with the record. If you've got a second to scroll please give it a look as we're pretty happy with how everything turned out! This is how the LP looks when you first see it/pick it up. In the poly bag its actually kind of difficult to tell that it has a vertical wrap and just looks like a standard white cover with the pencil drawing and the bands name on it. As you slide the vertical wrap off of the LP it reveals the record's title: Discontent. Also the next layer below the skin from our sad looking gal on the front cover. Next you pull the LP jacket apart diagonally to reveal below the muscle layer... the skull. It is a printed dust-sleeve that houses the actual LP. We really wanted to make something with multiple layers in the artwork and are super happy with how this turned out. I don't know if I've ever seen packaging with this cut in it. We printed the jackets through Imprint and they were super cool with helping us figure out how to make this cut and with adding the extra tab on the traditional jacket so that all 4 sides of it would be sealed until the cut was made. When you flip over the dust jacket it reveals a wall of lyrics and the credits for the album. This is the back of the LP jacket that pulls apart diagonally. Song titles that are not visible when the wrap is fully on the LP. The two main variants of vinyl are clear with black smoke and clear with red smoke. They turned out really cool and each one is pretty unique. The red LP in the top corner of this picture is the only copy that ended up being a pretty solid clear red throughout so naturally I had to hold onto it. This gives a pretty good representation of the variation of the clear vinyl with color smoke added in. Bonus fact... the center labels are 3 dimensional if you look at them with 3D glasses. Warn The Duke is an Alternative/Punk band that features members of River City Rebels, Big D and The Kids Table, The Toasters. But don't let the past projects confused you. Ghost Be Gone is much a punk record. With comparisons to 80’s/90’s alternative/punk sound of bands like The Replacements and Kid Dynamite, and also recent acts like Beach Slang, Warn The Duke deliver nine catchy blend of 90’s emo and jangly melodic alt rock has a freshness that sets them apart from their peers today. Features one unreleased track "Reclamation" not on the original digital release. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jay Maas of Defeater. The band sounds like that vintage Warped Tour sound from before Warped Tour started to suck. THIS IS HELL “BASTARDS STILL REMAIN” TO BE RELEASED ON 7” VINYL VIA COIN TOSS RECORDS After the surprise release of This is Hell’s new album “Bastards Still Remain” exclusively through their bandcamp, the band has teamed up with Coin Toss Records to release the album on 7” vinyl. The record is scheduled for an early fall release with an exclusive cover for pre-orders. The band has been inactive since June 2013 and remains inactive despite this new album. “The music for these songs were written quickly and then buried. When the 10th anniversary for “Sundowning” was approaching, the idea of them becoming a surprise one-off record was conceived and we quickly ran with it. The songs are a direct nod to first wave American hardcore/punk which is one of, if not my favorite, era of music. We stayed with that vibe the entire process - 90 minutes of practice on a Saturday, recorded/mixed/mastered on a Sunday with almost everything being tracked first take, and it was done. Even the 12 songs on a 7”; it’s all in the vein of early 80’s USHC. The choice to release with Coin Toss was also of the mindset of sticking with a friend as opposed to entertaining a ‘larger label’ or someone we’re not comfortable with.” – guitarist, Rick Jimenez. This is Hell historically has had many lineup changes, so this was a return to form with founding members Travis Reilly (vocals), Rick Jimenez (guitar/vocals) and Dan Bourke (drums) as well as “Misfortunes” (and most of “Sundowning” touring) bassist Johnny Moore. “Bastards Still Remain” will be available through Coin Toss Records only, as This is Hell remains an inactive band. “We did this project solely for fun and an excuse to hangout and fuck around in the shed for an hour and spend a day in the studio.
