iron666monkey
Hi All, My wife has to go out to Denver the 15-18 so I snagged a plane ticket and will be heading out with her. I've never been and am pretty stoked to finally check out the city. She'll be working most of the time so I'll be left to entertain myself. I got tickets to a Rockies game, so that will take up most of an afternoon. What shops does everyone recommend? I'm mostly into metal/hardcore/rock, do any shops focus on that? I won't have a car and will be relying on the light rail / bike....though I may have access to a zip car, but not sure yet. I don't drink, but am looking for good burn shops. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
3arl
Twist and Shout is really the only shop I ever went to when I lived there. Make sure to grab a breakfast burrito at Santiago's while you're there. Also I'd recommend doing a zip car. The light rail isn't that great unless you're going out to the burbs. smailtronic
Don't forget to find Virgil and inquire about Burrito Collective.
radiatorhums
Twist and Shout is really the only shop I ever went to when I lived there. I can attest to this, Twist & Shout is great. It's been a really long time since I've been to Denver, but my friends and I used to always go here and drink stupid strong margaritas. http://www.riograndemexican.com/

blessedxcursed
Record stores: Twist and Shout Wax Trax Chain Reactions Black and Read can't help you with weed (i guess that's a "burn" shop?) but there's plently around to partake in
iron666monkey
Yes, burn shop = weed. I figure it's all over so that's not of concern. Thanks for the record store and food suggestions everyone. Love going to new towns and checking out good eats.
One Hundred Fifty-Two
Billy's hotdogs is right by the baseball field. I'm friends with the owners daughter. For weed make sure they sell to the public. Despite being legal most shops still only sell for medical purposes. There are a bunch of cool venues in Denver. Just check out pollstar to see who is in town. Do something outside. Climbing. Hiking. Rafting. Biking. And wear sunscreen because the sun is brutal if you aren't used to it. Most of the shit I do in Denver involves drinking
rtw88
I was just in Denver last month. I was only there for a day so I didn't have time to do much but I enjoyed just getting stoned and exploring downtown. I checked out a few dispensaries and of the 3 random ones I went to, all 3 sold to the public. The best selection I saw was probably at one around the block from Illegal Pete's. I think it was called Rocky Mountain High. If I had had more time, I planned on going to the museum of contemporary art as they were advertising that it only cost $5 after 5 pm. For shows, from what I could tell, this company books most of the bands people around here are interested in. http://www.sodajerkpresents.com/

laralaurent
I'll send some suggestions once I get off work. Plenty to keep you occupied. But since I'm here, I'll third that twist and shout is great and wax traxx, which is a bit smaller record store.
Youinreverse
I loved Wax Trax. Records are way cheaper than Twist & Shout. They had a ton of great used stuff as well.
1876records
Denver rules. Looks like you'll be leaving the day before Riot Fest starts though which is a bummer, but you'll still have plenty to do.
