numanoid
I'm curious what kind of gear everyone has, or if most people are using the USB option. My gear goes like this: (Stylus) Ortofon OM40 > (Table) Pro-ject RM5 with Speedbox > (preamp) Pro-ject Tube Box > Alesis Masterlink (16/44.1) > CDR > Exact Audio Copy > Lame Frontend (V0 preset) For older records, I'll rip at 24/88.1 and dither down to CD audio, then store the hi-res audio with the record for archival purposes. As long as the records are mastered well and clean, the audio sounds amazing! I'll usually even rip new records rather than grab the audio from bit torrent because of the harsh CD compression, not to mention that the MP3's are usually ripped with shitty settings in itunes. celebdeath
i just use a boring old iMic, with Audacity, and record to the computer in .wav. i then convert the format to 320kb MP3 and copy them into iTunes. still sounds excellent, but i dont use my iPod that much. i listen to the .wav songs on my hardrive through my stereo much more often. momentumlost
I'm lazy...I just buy both...or buy the vinyl and download the mp3. The latter is becoming more popular now that money's tighter...
thomas
I rarely rip stuff anymore, but when I do it's just straight turntable to line-in, then the audio is grabbed with goldwave and saved as wav. Then converted to V2 lame.

Guest vito
if you look hard enough, you should be able to find anything. there's only 3 albums that i've been wanting that i haven't been able to find yet. i'm sure they'll be around soon enough though. derbsauce
After buying Capital - Homefront on vinyl i really need to find a digital copy, and yet, I can't find it friggin' ANYWHERE. Mind you, I don't use the Oink.cd clones so that's probably why.
teganandsara
I convert the vinyl---->CD take the Cd to the computer CD---->MP3 and then when I plug in my ipod it syncs and that means MP3---->Ipod. Therefore Vinyl---->CD------>MP3------->Ipod
mcm1610
When I had my ipod, I would just track down whatever I have on vinyl via the interwebs.
