One listen thru, it's brilliant and the sq and production is phenomenal. 45rpm, quiet press, cascading female harmonies and ominous drones. At first blush, it's a perfect Mt Eerie album. Any way to expand on what blew you away without spoiling? I'm interested. After my one listen, I'd say that the first half is very reserved. More or less the minimalistic, soothing sound you've come to establish with Phil and the softer side of Mount Eerie. But the record - to my ears - really changes gears and rocks your socks about midway through. It's not often that Mount Eerie tracks jump out and impress me on the first listen, but there are a handful on the C/D sides that did just that.
