I think this is very much a regional thing.

I guess I have to roll with "Pop" on this one, although generally I just call it by whatever flavor or type it is. (ie. "Pass the Sprite").

This "Coke" thing is news to me.

I can understand perhaps calling every Cola "Coke", because it's sort of like Kleenex, Rollerblades or Band-aids (not tissues, inline skates or adhesive bandages). For example, at the bar you don't hear anyone going "Rum n' Pepsi, please".

But do people in Texas call every carbonated drink "Coke"?

Would someone point at your 2 litre of Mountain Dew and say "I'm parched. I'm going to nab some of your coke, guy."

Thats all kinds of wrong!
