clydeftones
yeah that was all about team performance, although there still are members of the BBWAA that are dumb enough to care about average Well they still care about wins for pitchers and I think BA is a much more telling stat for a batter than wins are for a pitcher. They have not leaned heavily on Wins in the last few years. Felix Hernandez won last year with a 13-12 record while CC Sabathia won 21 games and finished 3rd in AL Voting. Zach Grienke won the year prior with a 16 win season. Tim Lincecum won in the NL that year with 15 wins. The BBWAA have done an improved job of understanding pitching metrics. I can't imagine being that kid. Simply awful for everyone. Yeah, sad. I don't want to see a video of the guy falling, but I would like to see the location that it happened at. It has been described by the newscasters but I am still wondering how safe/unsafe it was.
thebiglebowski
Travis, Your boy Mike Trout just got called up. Grabbed him in my keeper baseball league as soon as I could race to my computer. Definitely hoping he rips shit up...

I've seen the video. You can find it on Youtube but it's never shown in real time, but on slo mo replay. I honestly looks like a blooper but its not obviously because he died. It's crazy that the guy was conscious and talking when he was taken away. That image is going to haunt his kid forever....

Snaggle Von Swift
not the best picture, but from the LA Times there's the gap.

Guest
its a damn shame papi missed with that big uppercut tonight. although, that probably would have resulted in the second death mentioned in this thread. but that really is an awful story out of texas. hamilton, obviously, feels absolutely terrible. but what about the announcers? their first reaction to the incident was to make fun of the guy. must be awful to have their naive jokes soundtracking the replay that everyones been watching. thebiglebowski
Wonder what Jeter's 3000th hit ball would have been worth had the guy decided to auction it? I'd guess around $50k.
clydeftones
$5-$10k, imo

Snaggle Von Swift
the ballpark out in Phoenix looks gorgeous, though that back wall looks like it could be horribly distracting for a batter.
travis
Stoked Weaver gets to start today, he totally deserves it. Even with the pitchers in the AL who arent able to play tonite, I still think Weaver deserves the start.
thebiglebowski
Verlander has been the best pitcher in baseball. Weaver is #2.
travis
Verlander has been the best pitcher in baseball. Weaver is #2. They are pretty even, Id still say Weaver has been better tho. Weaver has the lower ERA, less BB/9 and more K/9. Verlander has given up 12 HRs to Weavers 5.

travis
I cant believe how far a second baseman can hit a baseball. Cano is fucking unreal.
flood
Cano is a beast. if he could get his head out of his ass and pay attention... he'd be putting up SCARY numbers. Dude is just too non selective at what he swings at
travis
So the Brew Crew got KRod and the Dodgers got Juan Rivera yesterday. Nice pick up for the Brewers. ASG kinda sucked. Game wasnt really very fair with the AL not having King Felix, Verlander, CC, Mariano in the rotation and the NL having everyone. Oh well, Weaver pitched well for his 1 inning and the Halos AL West rival CJ Wilson got the loss.
GradedOnACurve
So happy the Mets got rid of K-Rod and this:
travis
He will be good for the Brewers. That option he had with the Mets was fucking massive tho, they are lucky they arent going to have to pay that now.
311thrice
I had such a bad feeling with CJ...he wasn't ready for an all star game. Something told me he wasn't gonna have a good outing.
travis
The AL pitching was a complete joke comapred to what the NL brought and it showed. Not that Wilson is a joke, he's really good but for an All Star game the AL staff in general was fucking weak. They should have left Weaver in for more than 1.
