corbet
I saw Thursday last Winter at a VERY small venue in Detroi with Circle Takes the Square and Portugal. The Man and they were as good as ever. Maybe they're more energetic for smaller shows? All I gotta say is great, another amazing band releasing a box set that will surely hurt my wallet. One of my favorite bands ever. Also.... WATT > Full Collapse

brad
everyone who claims watt is way better just wasn't into thursday at the time of full collapse. if you were a part of thursday back then...i don't know how you can say anything they did was way better. brad
speaking of a city by the light devided why hasent this been pressed?? is it cause it's on island? im not a hugh fan of this album, but wouldnt mind owning it on lp well, island pressed war all the time. i think it's more to the fact that island gave up on a city very early and thursday were dropped a few months after the release
brentoage
i saw them on a really early tour. i can't remember when it was exactly, but the show was: the movielife/thursday/rise against/boysetsfire small venue in toronto. it was awesome. all that being said, i do not understand how anyone is into this band. hahah

monk0nuggets
Why do you think the mixing is terrible? Personally I think they got better with every release and I love each one dearly. The song writing got better, as well as their technique.
brad
i think the mixing on city is terrible and i haven't listened to it in a long time. Live, i really like a couple of the songs...but on disc it just sounds so...muddy and over touched. I don't know the correct terms but it sounds awful. Thursday is going to use Dave again on the next album and I am dissapointed. They sounded better with Sal V. - see full collapse, waiting, watt, and the songs on kill the house lights
monk0nuggets
I'm so stoked they are using Dave again. Plus, his studio is 40 minutes from my house.

The song writing got better, as well as their technique. Everything sounds like it was recorded too hot - like it's on the verge of clipping. Additionally, the vocals seem to get lost in the mix on some songs. I agree that their song writing got better. I can't wait to hear what they've done for this split
monk0nuggets
Yeah, Dave likes to put gain on everything, but I'm ok with that.
brad
the vocals are my biggest concern. i listen to thursday for geoff and his lyrics and vox.

Additionally, the vocals seem to get lost in the mix on some songs. I agree that their song writing got better. I can't wait to hear what they've done for this split A recording can't be too hot unless it is clipping. Being on the verge of clipping does nothing to the sound. There is no distortion or effect in a recording until it clips. Why you think it sounds too hot is because of how much compression they put on it, making it sound louder. The album is just way too over compressed and over produced. Whoever recorded and mixed it treated it like it was a radio pop album. everyone who claims watt is way better just wasn't into thursday at the time of full collapse.if you were a part of thursday back then...i don't know how you can say anything they did was way better. ^this guy knows what he's talking about. kurtz
Full Collapse is by far my favorite. WATT is still very good, as is 5 stories. Waiting gets a big "meh" from me. And A City By The Light Divided is completely unlistenable. I haven't checked out Kill The House Lights yet.
translatingthename
full collapse is definitely what got me into thursday back in middle school, but war all the time is prob my favorite overall

brad
definitly true. it's all about where you were/how old/what the shows were like/the people involved/your friends at the time...all of the outside stuff that immediatly doesn't relate to the actual music but is what music is all about. the new songs on kill the house lights are pretty good (especially live). and make a return to what I like. when it first came out I had my hopes up for a thursday/cursive tour. but the thursday/circle takes the square was awesome because I love CTTS I just want them to tour again. or at least do the holiday show again this year
murakami
i saw thursday with the cancer conspiracy, who were the two openers for piebald. great show. i think war all the time is a very good disc and would be perceived as much better if full collapse wasnt so amazing, or wasnt released first
corbet
I've never listened to Envy, what albums does everyone recommend? Should I just grab their latest full length?
kurtz
I've never listened to Envy, what albums does everyone recommend? Should I just grab their latest full length? Check out A Dead Sinking Story. That's their best album IMO.
