Hmmmm what game should i watch, Bulls v Magic or Thunder v Raptors?

Thunder Raptors! Just cause it sounds cool, but seriously. Raptors are gonna surprise people this year, hopefully they surprise OKC tonight and beat their ass! And plus, who is there to watch in that other game? A rose-less bulls team? A howard-less magic that has big baby Davis as their star player?!? Ew!

I'd switch to denver/detroit and see who will win their first game! I totally agree on the "Ew!" factor of magic/bulls, and toronto/okc looks ugly

No Phil but D'Antoni should be a nice upgrade over Brown. Im shocked they didnt go with Phil.

Yeah, way to go with the guy who proved he can't coach Defense. Cause you know, the guy with 11 rings was obviously the wrong choice? ROFL, gotta love Buss.... I really hope they don't expect to do much this season....

Buss is probably the best owner in all of sports. Him and Kupchak know what they are doing.

D'Antoni has a great relationship with Nash and Kobe loves him as well. Obviously Kobe likes Phil a lot too but it sounds like this was a pretty good move. I dont know why you think the Lakers cant do anything this year with D'Antoni instead of Phil. They have one of the greatest starting 5 that any team the NBA has ever had. People just like hating on the Lakers.

Yeah thats exactly it... Not that they did nothing compared to last year besides exchange one mental midget for another (Bynum -> Howard), got older and better at the point position but at the same time lost depth. And Buss being the best owner in all of sports?!?! Really bro?!? Really?! So you don't mind having an owner that has an ego the size of Kobe's and Howard's combined? That has his own reputation in mind over that of his teams?? If he was the best owner in sports he would of hired Phil Jackson today and not D'Antoni. You know why he didn't? Cause he wants to be king shit, and doesn't want anyone else to have an opinion that could ultimately effect his decision. And i stated the reason i don't think they can do anything with D'Antoni. He is an offensive minded coach... He doesn't even run the kind of offense that Howard can take advantage of, or Gasol can take advantage of. It's gonna be a lot of high screen and roles and a lot of running coming from D'Antoni's offense, you think a 38 year old point guard and a 32 year old power foward who has the reputation of being one of the best passing PF in the league is gonna flourish? Howard isn't use to running up and down the floor either, he is used to getting the ball in the low post with his back to the basket and using his power to get what he wants. I mean, go ahead... keep em' running. Fast paced play leads to injuries and i would say thats one thing that roster is... Injury prone. Nash already hurt, Kobe having wrist problem (not that i expect him to miss, cause he's Kobe), Howard and his back problems don't shed any light on the situation either. And honestly, is this starting 5 much better than the starting 5 he had in Phoenix in 2004? (Stoudemire, Quentin Richardson, Marion, Nash, Joe Johnson). That starting 5 is much more suitable to the starting 5 in LA right now for the way D'Antoni runs his offense...

haha Typical Laker hater nonsense. Dr. Buss' ownership record speaks for itself. You're just trash talking Buss cause you just dont like the Lakers, which is fine. His "ego" has never once been an issue for this team. Ive honestly never even heard of anyone mention Buss having an ego. They have 16 titles and 10 of them were won with Buss as the owner. No other NBA team has more than 6 titles in their history except the Celtics. Id say he's doing a pretty good job plus Ive never met a Laker fan who didnt love Buss. He's easily one of the best owners in all of sports without question. Everything Ive heard about D'Antoni's offense sounds like its going to work just fine with the Lakers, running a pick and roll offense with Nash at the point and 2 of the best bigs in the league should equate to quite a few wins. Plus there's this other guy named Kobe who's on the team and he's pretty good too. I dont see him helping their D too much but the Lakers have been a great defensive team for a while now. Even the last few years with Phil. Of course everyone wanted Phil back but this is sounding like a pretty good alternative. Not saying they are going to win it all but goddamn they have the most talented starting 5 in the league and now that they got rid of Brown things should start turning around. All that matters is they make it to the playoffs and then its on!

I'm pretty sure his ego is the reason Phil left in the first place right? Isn't he banging his daughter or something of that sort too? Lol, great relationship those two have :( Anywho, damn right i'm a Laker hater... I'm a Spurs fan, i have respect for one person and one person only on that team Kobe. He's a beast and very rarely cries...

No Phil left cause of health problems, Buss has a good relationship with Phil as far as I know. He has been dating his daughter for years. I think that whole situation would have blown up a long time ago if there were personal issues.

Kobe definitely demands respect but so do Nash, Gasol and Howard. All likely future HOF players.

I dont even respect Metta haha.

jim buss has the ego, not jerry buss (the owner). jim is the one who hired mike brown, not jerry.

and I imagine letting nash figure out what to do on offense will work well. kobe, gasol, and howard are good enough that they can get going on their own. hopefully d'antoni can simplify things enough that the bench players can actually do something. and between kobe, mwp, and howard, I think the defense will be fine. they'll still have trouble with fast guards, but no coach is going to fix that
