sugarballs
And not really want it after you win it? I bought the Mastodon box set that way (I really did want it and I got a great deal I just didn't have extra money for it). The reason I ask is because I just won a Flash Gordon 7" that I really don't want and I don't really know why I even bid on it. Does anyone else do this? By the way I always pay for the items if I win them (I hate people that win and don't pay).
daniel
I have never purchased an album on eBay. I bid on a copy of Manchester Orchestra's debut once, lost, then found it in a store for $12 a couple months later.
geezfools
I've done it a couple times. Or bid on something and immediately come to your sense and regret it. I generally hope I get outbid and usually I do, but yeah. Shitty, but that's life I suppose. The best is when you bid on something, then a week later you find out you won it for super cheap. xlovecolouredx
i ever bid some which i didn't really want. if i saw some record which no one bid, i will bid in low price. but i can't do it now for some economy problem....
enjoyadrian
i've done this. I agree on how i usually hope that someone will outbid me. I wanted to be outbid on a copy of the faint's "danse macabre" with the original cover, but looking back I'm glad I won it for only eight bucks. drinker
I bid over $300 (maybe close to $400, I don't really remember) on a Derek Hess, Afghan Whigs poster once. I was drinking that night. Drunk + Ebay= bad idea. Thankfully, I was outbid with a couple seconds left. Great poster, just not for that price.
servo
oh man, drunken ebayness... got drunk and was on euro ebay... thought i was bidding in euros, but it turns out it was pounds. $150 later i got my most prized 7" and cant really beat myself up for it
andrew13
i do this a lot. usually throw in a lowball price and half hope i win half hope i don't. it sucks when it's a bad week on ebay and i win everything it seems like and spend more than i make that week. adamlikesmusic
I once got into a bidding war with someone in a 7" that was still in print. I drove the price up to $34.75, and found out their max was $34.99, and decided it was too much for me. Interpunk had it for $4. I had no idea it was still in print at the time, though. Sucks for the winner.
thomas
I bid sometimes with the hope of being outbid, but I've never won anything and not wanted it.

sonix
I remember forever ago.. when Minus the Bear's Planet of ice came out, Virgil put the test on ebay for some foundation I think.. I bid 70$ and I was the top bidder for the whole time and I kinda forgot about it and didnt have 70$ to spend.. and it went for like 71.30 or something. I was really worried

mikeian
i impulsively do this sometimes, although the one i really remember was when i did this once with a jane doe print. i was thinking about it for a couple days and then i remembered to bid on it. i bid 300 in the last 5 minutes on my phone and then i got really worried cuz i wanted it but then i also wasn't sure i wanted to spend that much. luckily i was outbid. danthemjfan23
Buy It Now is the enemy of the intoxicated eBayer. oh my god totally. although i did come away pretty nicely on a few things (namely a Brand New record for like $10 when it first came out that now goes for $70 regularly). normally, though, it's just bad bad bad.
