piratesbooty
Even though i've always been told to stay away from the laser, i still find myself interested every time i stumble across one: http://www.laserturntable.com/?gclid=CPf4irqHr5ECFReQGgodJAXOdQ I've heard through the grapevine at the quality of the playback is just not worth it. Have any of you guys had any experience with these and would like to give a little insight to us all?
salparadise
for the 16,000 dollars you'd have to spend to get the accommodative unit, and the "de-clicker", you might as well just put a down payment on a really nice turntable.
piratesbooty
of course, i guess i am asking imaginary land, none of us actually have money, we are collectors. ok, here it is revised: anyone seen any of these in action?
brentoage
i don't know how to form an opinion on one of these without seeing it in use. that being said, i never have. definitely an interesting idea, though.
xfedaykinx
doesnt this sort of defeat the purpose? ya know, being digital and all
kyle
doesnt this sort of defeat the purpose? ya know, being digital and all Its a laser but its still an analog playback device. " True Analog Playback The laser beam travels to the wall of the groove and back. The reflection angle is transferred to the audio signal, meaning that the LT maintains analog sound through the entire process, without any digitization. As a result, the LT cannot differentiate between an audio signal or dirt on the record. To keep your records clean, we recommend a record vacuum cleaner (see our Accessories page)." http://www.laserturntable.com/about/index.html
perk900
from what i've read about the laser tables is that they are effective but are only for serious listeners.. the bonus with them is that playback does not degrade the record over time that a normal needle would. dante3000
I'd buy one...Ya know if it didn't involve selling my fucking car...and stealing a car and selling that one as well.
forgeagain
The real benefit is that you can remove the laser and take it with you to the movies, for hilarious laser commentary on the film.
riddle350
The idea of play a record with a lazer kind of turns me off.

brammyg
I think the reason vinyl still exists is the primitive of idea of putting needle to wax.
