mcm1610
They are shot-for-shot the same (or so I've heard). Save yourself some reading and get the remake.
coldsnap
Martyrs seriously. scary movies never get me scared, it's usually more funny than scary but this movie is just too much. I was seriously scared and it felt like I was watching all this in real life, happening right in front of me. this movie is intense and it has to be the most brutal movie i've ever seen, psychologically as much as physically. thesupervillain
Check out Frontier(s) if you don't mind subtitles. Not so much traditionally scary as it is just really disturbing. Also, I'll second the Event Horizon nomination. That movie still freaks me out.

xfedupx
Not scary but distrubing as hell was Girl Next Door, not the one about the porn star, but the one based on Ketchum's book. That left me speechless and just staring at the screen after it ended

leerobert
'Them' was kind of scary Yeah, that's pretty intense, and The Strangers too, I saw it in the Cinema and thought it was cool, bought the DVD for my girlfriend last weekend and we watched it again and for some reason it freaked me out second time round. Hellraiser II freaked the shit out of me back in middle school though. I seriously wanted to throw up for like 2 hours straight after watching Audition. So creepy. Rob Zombie even said it made him really uncomfortable when he watched it. That's saying something.

minty
Scariest moment ever in a movie is in The Ring 2 (Japanense version of course). When they are editing the video and it starts freaking out. Holy shit, a movie has never scared me like that before.
