casey
I bought the book for me 3 year-old girl and now she wants to read it every night. I think the movie might be scary for her, though. My wife and I are totally stoked for it, though. You really can't fail with a SPike Jonze-directed script by Dave Eggers.

kirbypuckett
I'm very excited for this. My g/f didn't remember the story, so I bought her the book the other day.
kirbypuckett
Wow. Had no idea about this. Will go and see. Look up the trailer, it's one of the best trailers I've ever watched. "Wake Up" by Arcade Fire is the perfect song for it too. I really want that poster now.

I was at the movies the other day and almost stole the poster for this.

casey
There's not too much story in the actual book. The kid gets in trouble and is sent to his room. In his imagination he travels to the land of the Wild Things. He becomes their king and they have a rumpus. Then he gets lonely and goes back home. There's gonna be a lot of filling in to do, but I'm confident in Eggers' abilities.
kirbypuckett
One of the key points that I read is going to be Max's relationship with his mother.

rtw88
October. There's an old one? I'd assume he's referring to the first cut of the movie which the studio decided was too scary after doing some test screenings, so they reworked the ending. At least I'm pretty sure I'm not making that up.

voodooman595
This was in the "Fall Movie Preview" in my paper and it said that the monsters are not digital, but giant puppet outfits that actors have to wear. Jonze wanted to give it a more realistic effect. I found that surprising.
