I think Kannon is a solid effort, Attila's vocal performance is phenomenal, but it falls flat in comparison to Black One and M&D. With the former being pure evil, to the point of actually being terrifying, and the latter being their most adventurous, ingeniously composed and triumphant record. Kannon at no point grabs my attention the way any of the two do.

Well, if you keep in mind that Kannon surrounds what they did in their first three albums, it kinda contextualizes everything. It's Sunn O))) sounding as it originally did and for me, that's the whole merit of it. They somehow put things back in the original perspective and to be honest, it's a very focused album with Attila sounding stronger than ever. But I can understand that someone who got hooked up by the intrincated M&D or their further, more eclectic collaborations would take Kannon as a shallow effort.
