flood
one of the best reviews i've ever read.
rtw88
I loved this review so much that I put Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs on hold at my library.
saxamaphone
Now hitting on all 16 cylinders, the Beatles bolted back to the woodshed for The Beatles, a blandly designed masterwork that could inspire any reasonable citizen of California to launch a race war. Ha!
jcamps
i've read all his stuff and this article blows it all out of the water, "Rubber Soul allegedly caused half-deaf Brian Wilson to make Pet Sounds. (I assume this is also why EMI released a mono version of the catalogue—it allows consumers to experience this album the same way Wilson did.)" he's such a jerk, it's awesome. rocknroll76
So funny. I had to stop reading at work, I was laughing too much. Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs only worked for me when I was familiar with the subject matter. There were chapters I just had to skim through, because I had no interest or didn't get the references (Billy Joel). When I DO know the subject matter (like this Beatles review) all the little jokes are sublime.
harmless
Justin - didn't know you were a fan of this guy too. Thanks for posting. On a similar note, here's Paul Shirley's recent column about the Beatles on ESPN. As one would expect, all of the sports nerds that own 15 albums and think they are music experts get all pissed off that he dared to admit that the Beatles aren't his favorite thing to listen to. Some of the comments are pretty funny. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/thelife/news/story?id=4474313
mattstrike
Reading the comments section is almost more amusing than Klosterman's "review".

rocknroll76
It is not easy to categorize the Beatles’ music; more than any other group, their sound can be described as “Beatlesque.”
davehoffa
This guy gives metalheads a bad name. Unfunny!
casey
i like chuck, he needs to come out with a new non-fiction book. And never write another work of fiction. Dowtown Owl was the biggest turd of a novel I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

sgoodcore
Chuck is a bit to meta sometimes but he's got a sharp wit and he makes some spot-on observations to put it lightly.
swank
I like Klosterman's writing quite a bit, own most of his books and enjoyed that review, but am I the only one finding his style a bit smug lately? He just comes across as so pleased with himself for being so clever.
