hbeez
Anyone here have the deluxe editions of the recent Beastie Boys reissues? Are they worth the $90 price tag?
iamafreeman
I bought the deluxe version of Ill Communication but I found it for $60. It was definitely worth it for the lenticular cover. The pressing sounded pretty good. Better than my original green vinyl pressing.
xxmartinxx
The Hot Topic by me had the "Check Your Head" one for $74.99 I think. I was tempted, but I don't that much.
hbeez
Is there an actual book that goes along with it?
AlexH.
I would have bought one of these for Paul's Boutique, the other albums not so much.

I was looking at that on their website earlier actually. I generally dislike hot topic (more for the people who shop there) but i'll be damned if their vinyl selection isn't pretty damn good. That's half the reason I got the job there.
iamafreeman
Is there an actual book that goes along with it? no book with Ill Communication. i've seen Check Your Head at the shop and it didn't look like there was a book with it either. madtired
old thread but these deluxe versions are all on sale (except for paul's boutique) for $65 http://shop.beastieboys.com/sale/#!/107203
kriss
I've considered getting Check Your Head on deluxe for quite awhile now since it's the only full length in their discography that I don't have. If there weren't a million other things my record fund is promised to at the moment...
burntwolf
what are the deluxe versions? i take it these were different than the reissues they just did? the paul's boutique, check your head, and ill communication 20th anniversary reissues sounded great... manicdogbert
they were the vinyl versions on the 2-CD reissues.

manicdogbert
the deluxe vinyl had the main album plus all of the b-sides/remixes from the original singles. they also had deluxe packaging. most of them in slipcases.
burntwolf
oh, so all that crap you got digitally w/ the 20th anniversary actually on the vinyl... yea, paul's boutique i might've went for that...but wouldn't bother w/ the others... manicdogbert
Paul's Boutique was the only one that was a straight reissue of the original. no extra tracks, just the quadruple gatefold. if these were cheaper, i'd probably pick up Hello Nasty. monsterrod
I may pick up "Check Your Head"
kriss
if these were cheaper, i'd probably pick up Hello Nasty. I'm in the minority on this one, but Hello Nasty has been my favorite record of their's since I first got into them - all of the soul jazz and more eccentric elements really make it stand out from all of their other records.
